An exciting return of a member of Salem’s Brady family.

Greg Vaughan left “Days of our Lives” Thursday April 13 when Eric Brady was sent to prison for 5 years for a DUI after he got into a car accident which killed his best friend Daniel (Shawn Christian) and almost killed another close friend, Brady (Eric Martsolf) in December 2015.

Since leaving, Vaughan has already taken part in Hallmark made for TV movie, The Christmas Note, which also starred Gretchen Daniels (Jamie-Lynn Sigler “The Sopranos”). The actor also booked a role in sunny, warm New Orleans, taping OWN TV’s Queen Sugar, along with Days alum, True O’Brien (Paige).

It looks as though Eric, much like most characters sent to prison in soaps, is getting an early release, perhaps for good behavior. Vaughan will first be seen in Salem January 17, 2017, and in a statement to EW, said: “After coming toward the completion of Queen Sugar, I had the opportunity to speak with the executives and head writers at ‘Days of our Lives’. I’ve always been proud of my time and the work I contributed to ‘Days’, and I was excited at the opportunity to reunite with the cast and crew. I feel my job as an actor is about more than just stepping on stage and taking a role. I’m trying to create a presence that resonates for myself and the core of Eric Brady. I feel Eric’s journey will have a huge and impactful return!”
