Joseph Mascolo’s Stefano killed off Days of our Lives
The Phoenix will never rise again!
Iconic Joseph Mascolo, who has played Stefano DiMera since 1982, with some breaks over the years, has exited “Days of our Lives” Friday January 8, 2016, when Stefano DiMera was shot by Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso), who snapped after a confrontation with the villain. DiMera, who is likely the biggest soap villain in the genre, has “died” several deaths over the years. His deaths are always as exciting as when he rises from the dead. In fact, Stefano is known to fans and Salemites as “The Phoenix.” Unfortunately, this time he won’t rise again since Ken Corday stated in an interview that as of September 2015, all characters who die will not rise again.
The actor, who has been seen on canvas several times a week in the past, had stated in an interview in 2015 that he was only working two days a week and was happy with this schedule.
Mascolo is no stranger to soaps. The actor has also played “Bold and the Beautiful’s” Massimo Marone IV during his time away from “Days,” from 2001 to 2006. He was missing his trademark accent, but still kept viewers glued to their screens. Before that in 1989 he was Nicholas Van Buren on “General Hospital” and in 1985 he portrayed Carlo Alvarez in “Santa Barbara.”
Watch this week’s spoiler preview of what’s to come for Stefano on Days and let us know your thoughts on Mascolo’s exit.

Dare we hope for a ghostly apparition that guides Andre (Thaao Penghlis) in the future?
