Soaps.com Interview With Alison Sweeney: Days Has a Storyline That Sami Needed to Be Home For

An anticipated return.
Fan favorite Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady) has certainly been missed since she left Salem, but she’s all set to return for the show’s upcoming 50th Anniversary, giving fans a bit of what they love. And despite recent news that trainer Bob Harper was taking the reins after it was announced Sweeney left The Biggest Loser she still doesn’t have a minute to spare.
But she did find time to answer a few questions for Soaps.com about her upcoming return to “Days of our Lives,” what she misses about filming, and what is coming up next.
Soaps.com: What has been some of the hardest things about the time away from “Days?” What have you been able to do because you left?
Sweeney: I’ve definitely missed my ‘Days’ family and seeing them every morning. Little things like not pulling into my parking spot that I’ve had since I was 16 took getting used to. Since I’ve been gone, I’ve been able to finish my third novel, produce and act in TV movies, explore new projects and spend quality time with my families. I’m really proud of my upcoming TV movie for Hallmark Channel, ‘Love On The Air,’ because it’s the first project I’ve sold to the network and that I’ve executive produced and starred in. Check it out on September 26.
Soaps.com: What can we expect from Sami during the 50th Anniversary of “Days?”
Sweeney: ‘Days’ has a storyline that Sami needed to be home for. I’m excited to be back and to celebrate the milestone with everyone.
Soaps.com: What would it take to return to “Days” full time? More directing? James Scott (EJ) returning too?
Sweeney: I loved my 22 year career at ‘Days of our Lives’ but now my focus is on all the great new projects that I have time to pursue.
Soaps.com: After The Star Attraction and Scared Scriptless, can we expect more novels and when?
Sweeney: Yes! Opportunity Knocks will be out in Spring 2016 and I can’t wait for you to read it!
Soaps.com: What project do you want to tackle next?
Sweeney: Throughout my career I’ve loved exploring new opportunities. With my love for reading and writing books, I hope to find more properties to bring to networks for which I can produce and possibly star if there is a fitting role for me.
