Days’ teen scene set to sizzle
Rapidly-aged characters ready to shake up Salem.
Hope Brady and Aiden Jennings better hope they handle their business with Clyde Weston quick, because they are suddenly about to be dealing with something much scarier – teenagers.
According to TV Insider, the show’s new teen scene has taken shape, and it all kicks off on August 28 when James Lastovic will first appear as Joey Johnson, son of Patch (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans).

At that point, Hope and Aiden's children will go from grade-school to high school as Vivian Jovanni replaces Lauren Boles as Ciara and Jonathon McClendon takes over for Connor Kalopsis as Chase in October - timed just right for the return of Peter Reckell as Bo Brady after two years.
The following month, Kyler Pettis replaces Theo on Days. Then right in time for Thanksgiving, Shawn (Jason Cook) and Belle Brady (Martha Madison) come back to Salem with their own aged daughter Claire (Olivia Keegan).
"By aging these children into young adults, we’re making them more relatable to our audience and more dramatically exciting," executive produce Ken Corday told TV Insider. And he emphasized how important it was to reinvigorate the families, with these children representing the fifth generation of the soap.
"My late mom [Days’ executive producer Betty Corday] used to say, ‘You have to water the roots of the Days of Our Lives tree with a new generation every 10 years or so,’ and that’s what we’ve done," Corday said. "These are the children of the children of the children of the children, and they are vital to our future."
