Melanie Jonas was recently confronted in Salem for card-counting at a casino. Back then, Neil Curtis was a new doctor on the staff at the hospital who was a compulsive gambler. Neil asked Dr. Greg Peters to join his practice, but still his gambling debts mounted and Neil wound up proposing to the wealthy Amanda Howard as a result. They became engaged, but Amanda discovered Neil in bed with a prostitute on the night their wedding was set to take place. She unsuccessfully attempted to commit suicide, and Neil tried attending Gamblers Anonymous, but he didn’t really apply himself to the program.
