Days of Our Lives’ [Spoiler] Makes One Hell of a Comeback Just as Bo Is Losing Hope

Nope, Satan hasn’t made his way back to Salem. But in the third episode of Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem, Chapter 2, a devilish character from the NBC soap’s past pops up to make the present extra tense for poor Bo.
Who? None other than Larry Welch, played off and on by Andrew Masset since 1983. This otherworldly incarnation of the baddie is pretty bad, we’ll grant you, but it isn’t actually the devil. “Judge Welch” is, in essence, purgatory — he’ll decide whether Bo is allowed to intervene in the goings-on below that find his Fancy Face Hope locking lips with Harris even as he does the bidding of Stefano’s daughter, Megan.

No one can say that Larry isn’t well-red.

Oh, didn’t you hear? She’s alive, it turns out, even though back in the day, Larry accidentally killed her and left her body in the booby-trapped hot tub in which she’d intended to electrocute Hope. Good times! (Get all the details here.)
Longtime fans will recall that in the 1980s, ambitious Larry set his cap for well-to-do Hope — and there was no extreme too extreme for him to go to it in order to make her his bride. On their wedding day, she was left holding out for a hero and got one when Bo rode to her rescue.

Decades later, Larry returned to Salem seeking revenge on “the one who got away” and, in his free time, lent a hand to Nicole as she plotted to kill Victor. And though the rat was first thought to have died in a prison break, he lived just long enough to wind up in a car accident that left him modeling a toe tag.
