Of all the prisons in all the world… What are the odds, huh? Wrongly convicted of Sami’s abduction, Days of Our Lives’ EJ gets locked up with a familiar face. “When he arrives in his cell, his cellmate kind of rolls over on his bunk,” headwriter Ron Carlivati tells Soap Opera Digest, “and we see that it’s Clyde Weston” — Ben’s no-goodnik father, played off and on since 2014 by James Read.

“The significance of this, as a lot of fans are aware, is that Clyde was responsible for EJ’s ‘death’ several years ago,” the scribe continues. “So when when EJ comes face to face with him, we finally get to play it out.”

Something tells us bro hugs are not in store.

Clyde gives Ben a tip on Days of Our Lives

Nearly eight years have passed since Clyde didn’t so much upend EJ’s life as end it. (You can relive that horrific turn of events here.) In that time, the bad blood between them can only have gotten worse.

Seriously — can anyone imagine EJ saying, “Bygones”?

Veteran actor Read has appeared on everything from Columbo to Cheers to General Hospital (where he originated the role of Finn and Chase’s father, Gregory). But he’s probably best known for the ’80s miniseries North and South and his five years recurring on the original Charmed.
