Traveling in and out of Salem has been Sami’s MO for quite some time and now she’s heading back briefly during the holidays — sorta. Alison Sweeney will be returning to Days of Our Lives on Thursday, December 24 when Sami has a very important discussion with her daughter Allie via Zoom.

On Wednesday, December 16, the actress posted an Instagram story, dressed for the holidays, captioned, “It’s wearing-a-Christmas-sweater-to-work Wednesday,” to let fans know she was at the Burbank Studios taping scenes for Sami, followed by headwriter Ron Carlivati confirming the virtual return on Saturday, December 19 by RTing a fan’s Twitter post with his caption, “Next week on @nbcdays… #days #sami @Ali_Sweeney @lindsayarnoldd.”

Back in August, we reported that Sweeney would be returning to the NBC soap on a long-term basis in 2021. But for now, it seems as though she’ll be getting the scoop about the current goings-on in Allie’s life, straight from her daughter, virtually, so it’s a good thing — especially for Tripp’s sake — that she’s not in Salem just yet.
