Soap fans are some of the most generous and supportive fans in show business and that was made clear when several of As The World Turns’ Van Hansis (Luke Snyder) fans banded together to raise money for a scholarship fund.

The fans – 170 of them in all! – worked together to raise more than $7,000 to support the Student Sponsorship Program at Walnut Hill Arts Academy. Van is an alumnus of the school. The sponsorship program is very much like a scholarship program; it allows students who wouldn’t otherwise to able to afford the costs of the school to attend.

“Having spent four years at Walnut Hill, I know what this student will gain from his education,” said Van to the fans who supported the program. “Walnut Hill was, and will always be, an incredibly important part of my life.”

Walnut Hill was founded in 1983 and in an internationall recognized secondary school which focuses on the arts. Students are offered intensive arts training as well as a tough academic schedule. You can learn more about the school here.

Soaps.com thanks the fans and Van for their efforts to help underprivileged students follow their dreams!
