ATWT Inks 1-year Deal
Several other publications have reported that the show has completed negotiations and signed a new one-year deal with CBS that would leave the show on through 2009. Word is that contract talks are on-going to keep the show on the air even longer than that.
However, at the point this is just a rumor. Soaps.com contacted a spokesperson with Procter & Gamble Productions who sent us on to CBS for the confirmation. However, that CBS spokesperson would only say, "CBS cannot comment on this."
Though we haven't been able to confirm ATWT's official status, Soaps.com will keep digging into the situation and will let you know as soon as we hear anything official.

With all the talk of shrinking budgets, seeing fewer “old” sets and the news that many veteran actors are checking out of daytime it is understandable that soap fans are getting a little nervous about their favorite show going off the air soon.
In 2007 soap fans learned that Passions had been cancelled; it was later picked up by DirecTV but didn’t last long on satellite. The show completed taping in March and will go off the air – apparently forever this time – later this summer. The show has even begun selling off memorabilia from the sets. You can read about that here.
Well, As The World Turns fans may be able to rest a little easier.
