UPDATED: Mick Hazen Nominated for Young Actor Award!!
Update March 31, 2008
The Young Artist Awards were presented March 29, 2008. Unfortunately As The World Turns’ Mick Hazen didn’t come home with the “Best Performance in a TV Series/Recurring Actor” award. Connor Price of “The Dead Zone” won.
But, Mick, we still think you’re tops here at Soaps.com and wish you the best of luck throughout 2008! With a hot storyline like the one you just wrapped up – Parker’s Trial – there are sure to be more acting challenges in your future! We look forward to seeing more of you in the coming year. Best of luck and congratulations on the nomination!
Congratulations go out today to Mick Hazen, Parker, on As The World Turns, who has been nominated for a Young Actor Award!!! The nominations for the 29th Annual Young Artist Awards were announced this week.
Mick is competing against young actors in the “Best Performance In A TV Series – Recurring” category. He is up against some tough competition including Jake Cherry from “Desperate Housewives”, Marc Donato from “Degrassi: The Next Generation, Caden Michael Gray from “Out of Jimmy’s Head”, Ty Panitz from “Bones”, Connor Price from “The Dead Zone”, K’Sun Ray from “Smith”, Will Shadley from “Dirty Sexy Money, Cainan Wiebe from “Sanctuary”, Calum Worthy from “Psych” and Dominic Janes from “ER”. What a tough group, eh?
2007 and the beginning of 2008 have been a roller coaster ride for Mick's character Parker. When his mom, Carly, returned to town in 2007 Parker kind of went off the deep end. He couldn't stand to be around her and was afraid she would leave him again. So he ran away to Chicago. No sooner did he return home, though, than step-father Jack became engaged to Carly's rival Katie. Then Carly received a terminal diagnosis (that turned out to be a misdiagnosis) and Parker went tumbling over the edge again. Parker just hasn't been able to catch a break and all of that emotional angst has made for great daytime television - and is the most likely reason that he is the only young boy nominated from a daytime television show!
Will Parker overcome his difficulties and grow into a functioning adult? We'll have to watch and see. One thing is certain, though: Mick has certainly grown to be a fine actor over the past 18 months or so. And we look forward to seeing him grow even more in the coming years!
The Young Artist Awards were created to recognize the outstanding work that young actors do year in and year out. In many cases these youngsters are ignored by the big awards shows, whether that be the Emmy's, the Oscar's or the People's Choice Awards. In addition to the awards show, the group has a foundation which funds a scholarship program.
The scholarships are presented during the awards each year as a gift to young actors or actresses who may be physically or financially challenged. The scholarship helps these kids pursue their dream of building an acting career.
Soaps.com will keep you fans updated on how Mick does with the awards. Congratulations, Mick! We are very proud of you and your work on ATWT.
