Past History
Mike Kasnoff was an auto mechanic whose dream was to be a stock car racer. He met Rosanna Cabot, who was from a wealthy family. Mike asked Rosanna to marry him, but her father, Alex, tried to keep them apart. Mike and Alex had an argument about this, and Alex suffered a fatal heart attack. Rosanna blamed Mike for her father's death and didn't want anything to do with him. He went to a bar and was seduced by Carly Tenney, who became pregnant. Out of spite, Carly told Rosanna about the infidelity on their wedding day. Rosanna left Mike and Carly miscarried the baby.
Mike then met a stock car racer by the name of Pilar. They went to Spain to race cars, and after several years, Mike returned to Oakdale alone. Mike then met Katie Peretti, who was married to Simon. Simon left Katie because he killed a man by the name of Bartleby, and was on the run from the law. After an on again, off again relationship, Mike decided Katie would always love Simon so they separated.
Mike met Jennifer while working with her at BRO. They fell in love. In the meantime, Katie came back to Oakdale. Jennifer felt her relationship with Mike was threatened. She impulsively slept with Craig Montgomery, who was the new manager at Worldwide. She became pregnant and when she told Mike about the incident, he wanted to raise the baby as his own. Mike and Jennifer got married, but he left her soon after because she had conspired to frame Craig for drug possession. She feared he would be in her baby's life and wouldn't be a good father.
Mike returned to Katie, but trouble began several months later. Katie published a book titled "Oakdale Confidential." She wrote about many secrets of Oakdale's citizens. Mike had told her about a woman who had given him some rubies, soon after his release from prison. He had buried them in the basement of Carly's house. When they went to dig them up, they found the skeleton of Maya God, the woman who had given him the rubies. Mike and Katie had just gotten married when the police arrested him for murder. Detective Nick Kasnoff, Mike's cousin, tried to cover evidence to help free Mike. Katie realized he was just covering up the evidence to protect himself. Katie was trying to protect Mike so when she saw the gun on the ground, from the struggle Mike and Nick had, she fired it, killing Nick. At first, Mike found it hard to forgive Katie, but eventually he did.
Later, their marriage fell apart when Katie had a one-night stand with her old flame, Simon Frasier. Mike couldn't stay with Katie any longer, knowing her betrayal. He left as she begged him to come back. A few weeks later, Mike was overcome with Katie's compassion and caring while Tom was in the hospital and they made love. The next day, Katie had false hopes and told Mike about their future, but Mike put a stop to it right then and there.
Mike is a strong caring man who wants nothing more out of life than to be loved by someone as caring. He wants a simple life and won't settle for anything less. Mike is always there to help anyone in need, but he seems to have the worst luck when it comes to his own life.
In 2008, Mike returned to Oakdale with a mission: to buy part of Emma's farm for development! He became friends with Sofie and when she accused Paul of raping her, stood by her in an effort to win Meg Snyder from Paul. It didn't work so Mike focused on work. He began an affair with Lily but when Ethan fell down the hole, their romance was put on hold so that Lily and Holden could try again. Mike decided to leave town.
