After nineteen nominations, Susan Lucci famously won her first Daytime Emmy award in 1999. Thirteen years later on February 25, Village Voice columnist Michael Musto recreated the moment at “You Like Me: An Evening of Classic Acceptance Speeches.”
Held at Ars Nova in New York City, the evening also recalled acceptance speeches from Melissa Leo (Oscar Award for “The Fighter”), Fiona Apple (MTV Video Music Award), Mariah Carey (Palm Springs International Film Festival Award for “Precious”) and others. Watch Musto reenact Lucci’s memorable moment below and then watch the actual speech to see how he did.
