Competing with a dead man.

Despite my affinity for Zach, I couldn’t help but root for a Kendall and Griffin pairing after he was supposedly dead and gone. And we were so close! But when Zach and his beard came back, that was all she wrote for the Kendall and the Latin doctor. But what if they had a chance to make a connection before that happened? We want to give our beloved characters new life, and writing fan fiction is our way of doing that. I would have a hard time deciding which couple to pull for. But with the chemistry between Griffin and Kendall, I wouldn’t be mad with the two of them making a go of it.

As they hauled Rev. Ricky away, Griffin and Kendall locked eyes and, without any thought at all, ran to each other and held on tight. Griffin couldn’t believe how close he just came to losing Kendall. She was so stubborn and wasn’t going to let anything get in the way of her plans to trap the devious phony. Not even her life. That scared Griffin, but it also excited him. She had so much passion for those she loved, and he wanted to be one of those people.

He could feel her shaking and pulled back slightly so he could look at her face. She seemed scared, but excited. He realized he was feeling the same way. Slowly, he leaned his head down and kissed her softly on the lips. There was maybe a moment’s hesitation before she began to return the kiss in earnest. But then she pulled away. “I can’t,” she said. “I can’t do this to Zach.”

Griffin was getting frustrated. He had to battle men for the affections of women before, just never one who was dead. He knew Zach’s memory was important to he and she wanted to honor him, but how long would he have to wait?

“Zach is dead,” Griffin said. “And you just sent his killer to jail. You did that for him. How much more are you willing to go through for someone who isn’t even here anymore? He can’t hold you in his arms anymore. He can’t touch your face or console you when you are in pain. He can’t love you anymore. But I can.” He expected her to slap him across the face and he waited for the blow. But it didn’t come. She looked at him in the eyes again and this time he knew she got it. She wouldn’t turn him down again.

Griffin leaned in and kissed Kendall again, and this time there was no hesitation. She kissed him back with all of the passion he had been yearning from her just minutes before. Any doubt he had that she was still yearning for a dead man was shed with their clothes. Kendall was his, not Zach’s, and this was just the beginning.
