Ex-All My Children’s Nick Santino Commits Suicide
Soaps.com is sad to report that former soap actor Nick Santino committed suicide last week. He took his own life after euthanizing his dog upon feeling pressure from his condo association. Per The New York Post, Santino’s suicide note read, “Today I betrayed my best friend and put down my best friend. Rocco trusted me and I failed him. He didn’t deserve this.”
The actor, who sporadically played Officer Anton on “All My Children” from 1998 – 2001 and Father Soto on “Guiding Light” in 2002, began having issues with his neighbors in 2010 over his pit bull. While there was a new ban put in place in his building on owning them, it didn’t pertain to Santino since he had possession of Rocco before the new rule. However, Santino still faced complaints and strict building regulations pertaining to his dog.
Santino, who had just turned 47, reportedly called his former girlfriend at 2.00 AM on the morning of January 25 and then overdosed on pills. The actor, raised in orphanages and foster homes, rescued Rocco years ago.
