All My Children: Vincent Irizarry Addresses Sony Rumor
The latest rumor giving soap opera fans hope that “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” will live on past their September and January deadlines respectively is that Sony will buy the ABC soaps and distribute them internationally. However, there doesn’t seem to be much traction behind this theory at the moment and one actor took to Facebook to weigh in on the matter.
Vincent Irizarry (David) recently posted, “I’m getting a lot of messages from many of you asking about some rumors that Sony is poised to pick up the shows. All I can say is I’ve checked with several actors on my show and at this point they appear to be nothing but rumors. Wish I had more positive news to share, but that’s all I know about this.”
In addition to the Sony rumor seemingly being just that, Oprah Winfrey also squashed any hope of the long running soap operas going to her network OWN when she posted a video explaining why that would not be happening. Hear what she had to say at Oprah Says No To All My Children and One Life to Live.
While these soaps may not end up on another network, the characters from “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” might not end up in other fictional towns either, as President of ABC Daytime Brian Frons told Deadline he couldn’t see the likes of Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) anywhere but Pine Valley. However, fans could see some of their favorite actors taking on new roles elsewhere on the Daytime landscape, as Deadline has also reported that Sony is looking to bring ABC talent over to “Days of our Lives” and “The Young and the Restless.”
What do you think? Would you like to see your favorite characters live on outside of Pine Valley or Llanview? Vote in our poll below.
