Saving the day. (Soaps.com)
Lori’s AMC Weekly Wrap Up For August 16 – 20.
The best line of last week goes to little Emma who told her mother Annie she gets married a lot. So true Emma, so true. But other good, and bad, things happened as well, so let’s get to it.
A Welcome Sight.
Seeing Zach back last week was truly a breath of fresh air. I don’t know what it is about him, but his presence makes any frustration I have with the show a little bit better. Unfortunately he’s not sticking around, as he has already told Kendall he’s taking off for business, but he’ll be back for a longer stint this fall. After that though, I’m not sure what they’re going to do with him since Thorsten Kaye hasn’t committed to a permanent stay. My hope is that they can work something out and he’ll at the very least show up once in awhile and be a bright spot à la David Vickers on One Life To Live. On a side note, I am glad that they’ve established that Zach and Kendall are happy and not on the verge of breaking up.
A New Twist?
I’m glad to have been wrong about the Brot storyline. I thought he would have been off camera for quite a bit longer when he went in for surgery, so I was happily surprised to see him back onscreen so soon. I found it interesting that he opened up to Randi about his surgery, which made me wonder if she will turn to him for support while her husband Frankie continues to be there for Madison.
Oops!
Angie is trying to be strong in the face of her impending blindness, which I am enjoying. Aside from my issue below, it’s nice to see them write her that way instead having her fall apart due to her condition. Now Jesse just needs to allow her to remain strong and continue to support her in whatever manner she sees (no pun intended) fit. I thought Friday’s episode ended well with David realizing there’s something very wrong with Angie’s eyesight, considering she thought he was Jesse. I’m looking forward to seeing how he reacts to learning the truth and I would love it if he surprises everyone and supports her instead of uses it against her. It would make him a bit more human and would be a good contrast to what he’s doing to Greenlee and what he’s already done to Erica.
Hero Complex.
I had a small issue with Thursday's episode as it seemed like it was all about the men coming to their women's aid. I know that's a soap staple, but it was really hammered home for me during the episode I felt I appropriately titled To The Rescue. Ryan came through for Greenlee regarding David's mechanic; Frankie gave Madison a shoulder to cry on regarding Ryan helping Greenlee; and Jesse had to protect a visually impaired Angie from David after he ganged up on her. I'd just like to see these women fight and win their battles all on their own. Well, maybe with a girlfriend's help.
Odds and Ends.
What's hero Ryan going to do when he finds out Greenlee isn't as innocent in David's schemes as he thinks she is?
I would have liked to have seen more of Caleb interacting with Zach and Kendall, as Caleb and Zach seem to be cut from a similar cloth.
When Krystal told Jesse and Angie that Caleb saved Erica's life on the mountain, she conveniently left out the part about him not letting her use her phone to call for help or how he didn't take her to a doctor himself.
The Scott/Annie/JR/Marissa storyline was just more of the same angst, but this week it will all come to a head. It should be pretty entertaining with the wedding approaching, at least I hope it is.
That's all I got this time around. What did you think about last week's AMC? Feel free to share your thoughts below and don't forget to vote in our poll about potential couples.
