AMC's J.R. Martinez (Brot) will be the spokesperson for Rehabbing with the Troops, a virtual rehabilitation program that helps wounded soldiers work out with professional athletes.
Season one of the 10 week program began on June 10, as the soldiers went to Wounded Warrior Project's TRACK facility in Jacksonville, FL to interactively work out with the New Orleans Saints via webcam. Both groups exercised in front of flat screen TVs using Nintendo Wii. Pro vs. G.I. Joe and Wounded Warrior Project developed the workouts using exercises within the EA Sports Active title.
Those participating in Season One have also worked out at home, documenting their experiences on the Wounded Warrior Arena website, Twitter and Facebook. Two Iraq military journalists have been filming Season One for a documentary series to also be uploaded on the Wounded Warrior Arena site.
J.R. will work out with the wounded warriors and speak at the luncheon at Season One's finale event in New Orleans on August 21, where the troops will be awarded and watch the Saints' pre-season home opener at the Louisiana Superdome.
Rehabbing with the Troops was developed by Pro vs. G.I. Joe in partnership with the United Services Organizations and Wounded Warrior Project and is sponsored by Armed Forces Insurance.
Find out about another project J.R. is involved in through J.R. Martinez Featured in The War Project.
Continued Support.
