Cameron Mathison Gets Busy
Cameron and Edyta are still dancing! (Soaps.com)
The entire soap world is abuzz with news of a first-time event: a vacation cruise that will allow fans never before seen access to their favorite soap stars. The Soap Cruise will sail November 15th and return to the Port of Miami November 19th, with stops in Mexico and Key West. Soap stars from all of your favorite soaps will be there – including Cameron Mathison and Alicia Minshew from All My Children.
I recently had the chance to talk with Cameron Mathison, who will be hosting the event, about what he is most looking forward to on the cruise.
Kristi: “What can fans expect on the cruise?”
Cameron: “There is going to be a lot of interaction, beyond autographs and typical appearances. You can act with your favorite stars and have different opportunities to play games and have fun, you can have your meals with the stars.”
Kristi: “You’ve done long-form fan appearances like the Soap Cruise before. How does this kind of appearance differ from the 1-day meet & greets?
Cameron: “I love all of them (fan appearances). It’s nice to get up close with the fans. Their enthusiasm and feedback is so much fun. It’s just awesome.”
Kristi: “You’re playing the host, what are you most looking forward to on the cruise?”
Cameron: (chuckles)”I’m looking forward to hanging out and not juggling three jobs!”
I asked Cameron about his busy schedule, which includes not only his regular gig on AMC but also hosting duties on “I Wanna Be A Soap Star” and his weekly dancing appearance on “Dancing with the Stars”. Did you know that he’ll go from the “DWTS” show next Tuesday, October 16th and directly to the live finale of “Soap Star”? That is a crazy busy schedule!
Kristi: “Do you ever sleep?”
Cameron: (gives a full-out belly laugh) "Sleep is very over-rated! (chuckles) It's really challenging but it's really fun. It's a very exciting time for me. I wouldn't want to pass up on any one of them, and it's really very energizing. . .I consider myself so lucky. I didn't know I had this much energy, now I know I can handle anything.
Kristi: "Tell us a little about Dancing With The Stars - is it as hard as you thought?"
Cameron: "It is as hard. I'm proud of myself to come out and do what I've done. I didn't expect that everybody (on the show) is doing so well. There are just a lot of different people doing really, really well. All I'm concerning myself with is having fun."
Cameron said the dances have been harder for him that he thought and credits dance partner Edyta Sliwenska for his performances each week. And speaking of "DWTS", Cameron and Edyta have made it into Week 4 of the competition! You can follow Cameron's progress here.
My thanks to Cameron for taking a few minutes out of his very busy schedule to speak with Soaps.com and to wish him luck on "Dance"!
And, while Cameron and many of your fellow soap fans are getting ready to cruise into the sunset don't worry, you won't be left out if you can't come along! Soaps.com will be on-board the ship to bring you the latest news! And if you've been thinking of coming along but haven't gotten your reservation, you have a few more days. I found out today that registration for the cruise has been extended until October 19th!
