Jana speaks, Amber prepares to leave, and Adam gets the last laugh.
At Crimson Lights, Victoria gets a Mother's Day card from Reed. When the boy moves away, Vikki tells JT this visitation schedule is sick! JT warns her not to talk to Reed about the murder investigation while she has him. Vikki sneers that Nick has been released and Victor soon will be.
In the interrogation room, Victor warns Chance about re-arresting Nick, saying they have no proof that was even Adam on the message. Chance says they checked it against other audio they had of his voice. Victor sighs. He calls Sharon and tells her about Nick, and the recording of Adam. Nick assures Phyllis that he didn't do this. Phyllis tells Nick that Adam set him up.
A black body bag is wheeled past the camera. Adam's voice intones, "Here lies the body of Adam Newman. He received his comeuppance the night of the Police Masquerade Ball. No one gave a rat's tail about him in life, least of all his family, but in death, he made sure they'd never be free of him. How do I know? I'm Adam Newman."
Sharon hangs up from Victor and calls the nanny. Adam's voice says, "My wife. The love of my tragically short life. She always saw the good in me, I was counting on that when I begged her to run away with me. If she'd said yes, things could have been better for everyone, but that's not how things worked out."
Sharon arrives in the interrogation room and hugs Nick. Adam's voice says he didn't want it to be this way, it's just how it turned out. Victoria arrives and gets dialed in. Victor feels that Adam tried to set Nick up before he left town, but someone got to him first.
In the corridor of the hospital, Amber questions Daniel about why he won't come with her. He says his friends need him, and Genoa City is his home. Amber realizes he thinks their marriage is over. Daniel denies it, saying they can weather this rough patch. Amber sadly says her son isn't a rough spot. Kay, Chloe, and Murphy come in with Eric. Daniel goes to check on Kevin. Murphy takes Eric to the gift shop, and Amber tearfully admits to Kay that she and Eric are leaving town tonight, and Daniel's not coming with them!
At the hospital, Jana is improving. Kevin and Gloria watch as the doctor gets her to follow a light with her eyes. Chloe, Daniel, Amber, and Katherine all come into the room. Amber asks if she can have a moment with Jana alone. Everyone but Kevin awkwardly leaves as they realize Daniel isn't going with Amber. Kevin is amazed that Daniel is doing this. Amber cries and says he and Jana are lucky to have one another. It's a heartfelt goodbye as Kevin says he wouldn't be alive if not for her. He leaves, and Amber tells the sleeping Jana what a great friend she's been. Jana opens her eyes.
Kevin confronts Daniel in the hallway. He says he would follow Jana and be a father to some kid if that's what she wanted. Daniel supposes that he and Amber don't have what Jana and Kevin do then. Kevin feels Daniel is leaving Amber too. Daniel gets in the elevator and goes. Amber comes out of Jana's room and joins Chloe, Kay, and Murphy for a goodbye. Eric hugs Amber, then goes with Murphy. Chloe and Amber cry, laugh, and hug. Kay and Amber are then alone. Amber sobs that she can't say goodbye to her. Kay asks if she has to do this. Amber nods, saying she has to keep Eric safe. Katherine tells her to follow her instincts then, just like her. Amber tells Kay about Tawny, and says she's been more of a mom to her than Tawny could have been in ten lifetimes. They hug and Amber leaves.
JT comes to the police station after a cop friend called his attorney to tell him Reed was there. JT says he was surprised to hear that Victoria had brought him there after their conversation. He takes his son and leaves.
Down in the interrogation room, Sharon, Nick, Phyllis, and Victor theorize about how to prove Nick didn't kill Adam. Adam's voice says that he did set Nick up, they've got that right. He says that Victor treated him like dirt even in death, and now he can watch his other son rot in jail - that works for him! Nick tells Phyllis that he and Summer were going to make her breakfast for Mother's Day, and he hopes Adam is in hell. He asks Phyllis to move into the main house since Daisy and Ryder are on the loose still. She reluctantly agrees.
Victoria and the others go upstairs to the police station where she finds Reed gone. JT's attorney is there to explain what happened. Victor watches as Victoria becomes livid and says she has had enough of JT calling the shots - it's over! Nick tells Victor to let Nikki know he's okay. Victor promises to find out who killed Adam. Nick asks Sharon to give Noah a heads up. He kisses Phyllis and wishes her a happy anniversary. Chance takes Nick downstairs. Phyllis tells Victor that Summer believes Nick is gone on a business trip. Victor laments what the family has been through, and says they will prevail over his ill-begotten son. Adam's voice says he was beaten the minute they toe-tagged him.
Daniel is at home and recalls how he proposed to Amber, and how they were married by Katherine on the roof. He grabs his keys and leaves.
Amber comes into the empty apartment and calls Loveline. She says it's Marina, and she wants to speak to Stryker. She tells him she and Herve didn't make it. She cries as she says if she loves someone you set them free. Stryker is amazed to hear that they got married, but now want different things.
Daniel is at Crimson Lights, listening to Amber on the radio with Stryker. He calls in, and says it's Herve - he needs to speak with his wife. They are connected and Daniel says he can't live without his best friend.
Still on the phone, Daniel walks into their apartment, saying he can't live without his best friend. He tells her he wants her to have everything she wants, he'll always think of her no matter where she is, and he loves her. They hang up. Hold each other for a moment, then Amber takes her suitcase and leaves.
Victoria stalks into Crimson Lights and confronts JT, asking him what the hell he thinks he was doing taking Reed without her permission! JT scoffs about her taking him to the police station.
Phyllis comes into the Ranch with her bags and Sharon greets her, saying her room is ready. They discuss the men Victor has working on the case, and agree that they aren't about to let a bunch of strangers solve this mystery. They figure they can work together to clear Nick. Sharon wonders if Adam actually went so far as to die purposely to send Nick to prison.
As Nick stands behind bars, Adam's voice asks, " How far would a person go to set his own brother up for murder? You have no idea. Nick will go down, and I'll have gotten away with the perfect crime. You might think a dead man might not care to much about revenge, but you'd be wrong."
Still at the hospital, Katherine goes to join Kevin and Gloria in Jana's room. Jana asks for water and they all smile! Everyone goes running off to let others know. Jana looks at Kevin, and asks, "Do I know you?"

Mac says to Billy, "Victoria's the married woman you've been sleeping with."
Heather tells Paul they have to face the truth. Paul nods, "She's dangerous."
The coroner says to Emily, "Okay, Jane, let's open you up and see how you died." He starts up his cutting tool!
