Neil speaks out, Cane makes a decision, and Jill continues her downhill slide.
Ashley and Jack sit in the Club dining room. They discuss the article in RS and wonder whether Jill has read it. Suddenly they see her walk in.
Jill approaches Cane at the Club bar. They discuss how Katherine offered him a high-level job at Chancellor, and that he turned her down. Jill says it was foolish, but he's sure of himself. He tells her that there is too much backstabbing in business - he doesn't want that in his life, or Cordelia's. Cane asks Jill to come to the hearing with him, but she declines, saying it wouldn't help for him to be seen with the Wicked Witch of Genoa City! Jill spies Ashley across the room and remembers threatening to tell her the truth about the shares!
At Crimson Lights, Billy confronts Chloe about taking out her custody suit nervousness on Mac. Mac informs Chloe that she's not leaving town or going into hiding anytime soon and goes to sit alone. Billy and Chloe sit down at a table and she sees that he is worried about the custody suit as well. She tells him it helps her to know how much he cares. Mac watches from the other side of the room as he holds Chloe's hand and tells her that nothing is going to happen to his girls!
In court, Neil stands up and pleads with the judge to hear him out! He says he's adopted before - Ana's older brother, Devon - and he considers him to be not like a son, but to be his son. He explains that he feels the same way about Ana, and wants to do right by her - that's why he is asking her to place Ana with Tyra Hamilton - the woman who has made her what she is today! Karen gasps in shock, and Tyra's jaw drops! The judge is puzzled over his sudden change of heart - Neil admits there are problems in his marriage. Lily, stunned, watches as Karen asks Neil, "What have you done?"
Outside the courtroom, Devon tries to reassure Ana, who is worried she upset Karen and Neil by hugging Tyra. Cane arrives and Ana greets him, as Devon fills Cane in on Tyra filing a petition. Lily comes out of the courtroom and when she sees Cane, asks to speak to him alone.
Jill approaches Ashley and Jack in the Club dining room. Ashley teases her about begging Victor for a job. A furious Jill tells her that Victor left out part of the conversation - she'd be happy to fill her in! Ashley suddenly doesn't feel well. Jill and Jack get into it about her lack of support for Billy - Jill warns him about kicking her when she's down. As Ashley grimaces again, Jill asks, "What's wrong, Ashley? Satan's spawn giving you indigestion?" Jack takes Ashley out of there over Jill's protests that she has something to tell them! In the foyer, Ashley tells Jack that she needs to see her doctor! Jill returns to the bar and keeps drinking. When a reporter from the Inquisitor approaches, she tells him she'll give him an exclusive - Katherine Chancellor is a fraud! Nearby, Mackenzie has just arrived and overhears!
In court, Neil tells Karen he's sorry he had to do that - she responds that of course he is - he thought hiring a lawyer for Tyra would be enough! The judge rules - permanent guardianship is awarded to Tyra, who rushes out of the courtroom to tell Ana! Devon approaches Neil, who tells him that Tyra won with his help - and that Karen's 'not good'. Neil looks over to where Karen was sitting and sees her wedding ring on the table! Nearby, Cane and Lily are talking - she tells him that Neil did the right thing. She says Ana should never have had to go through all of this - and she doesn't want to see Cordelia doing it someday!
Neil follows Karen home, and arrives to find her packing her suitcase and saying she's going as far away from there as she can get! She accuses him of having wanted it to end this way all along. She says he's always the good guy - can't let anyone down - even his mistress! They argue over whether their relationship has been real or lies - she says he used her to get over his dead wife! Karen says she always knew 'they' were wrong, but he kept coming after her with promises - and she believed him! When Neil grabs her arm and won't let go, telling her he loves her, she hits him! As she sobs, the door opens and Tyra, Ana, and Devon stand there, stunned. After reassuring Ana it's not her fault, Karen takes her bag and goes out to the elevator. She stands crying as the door closes. Inside the apartment, Ana asks Tyra, "Where do we go now?" A stupefied Neil stands holding Karen's wedding ring in the palm of his hands.
Billy and Chloe arrive at the courthouse and greet Rafe. Cane asks to speak with Chloe for a moment alone. She agrees, and they go into the empty courtroom. Chloe is surprised when Cane agrees with her rant about Cordelia needing her mom. He says he doesn't know what he'd tell Delia about why he took her away from her mom - he grew up without a mom. Chloe embraces him and thanks him. She tells him that he will be there - he is a part of the family. Out in the hall, Lily tells Billy what's going on, and he thanks her. They discuss the end of their relationship briefly. Lily tells him no one else could have helped her get through that difficult time. Cane and Chloe come out of the courtroom, and Chloe and Billy embrace in joy, as do a grinning Cane and Lily.
Ashley and Jack arrive at the Ranch, where Jack tells Estella that the doctor's orders are lots of rest. Estella and Ashley butt heads briefly before Ash goes to her room. As Jack stands alone in the living room, Adam comes in. Jack smirks. They discuss Adam's eyesight, or lack thereof, and Adam says he can see other things - like Jack's certain downfall! Jack teases Adam about the blindness not changing his character - it just gives him another angle to work! Ashley comes back into the room as Jack is telling Adam that maybe he can teach Zapato to be a seeing-eye dog! Ashley kicks her brother out, then apologizes to Adam. Adam sighs and says Jack was right about one thing, "I"m not worth much these days."
