The Newman family gathers for Christmas without Victor, and Victor is visited by three spirits.

At Victoria and Billy's house, Nikki tells Reed she is staying overnight. Billy takes Reed upstairs, leaving Nikki and Victoria to discuss the lack of family this Christmas. The doorbell rings - it's Nick. He tells Nikki that for her and the kids, he'll put aside his issues with Billy. Nikki wishes his father could see things the same way.

At work, Victor thinks about his conversations with Nick, Vikki, and Abby earlier. Nikki comes in and asks him to reconsider joining them for Christmas. He doesn't give a damn, and tells her to let him be.

Back at the Ranch, Victor is fixing himself a drink when the lights go out. Doors bang, the fire in the fireplace flares, and his father appears on the television screen. Victor becomes emotional and asks him what he wants. Miller says he's been doomed to wander the earth. Victor tells him he deserves it for all the pain he caused people. His father points out that Victor hated him because he abandoned him, but now he's doing the same thing to his own children. Victor rages that his children have turned their backs on him. His father says perhaps he'll listen to the others, explaining that he'll be visited by three spirits. Victor shouts that he listens to no one and goes to bed.

At one in the morning, Victor awakens to a light beaming in his bedroom door. Hope appears and asks him to take her hand. They go back in time to the night Victor's mother left him at the orphanage after his father deserted them. Victor watches his young self, and recalls how he cried himself to sleep each night. He tells Hope at some point he got angry and decided to get out. Hope states that he made a new life for himself and gave himself a new name - he also found the love of his life. Victor protests that Nikki is not the love of his life, but Hope points out that she's given him a home, family, and love, and wanted him to have balance in his life. Hope takes him back to the Christmas he spent with his mother after Nikki found her. He remembers how bittersweet it was, and cries.

Back in his bed, Victor awakens again, this time to see Sabrina standing in his room. They say they miss one another. He realizes she's there to show him the present. They look at Adam in jail. Sabrina reminds Victor he framed him for a murder he didn't commit. Victor thinks he's better off behind bars, but Sabrina feels he'll regret this. Next, they visit the Abbott Mansion, where Ashley is making wedding plans with Tucker. Diane arrives, and says Victor is making her work through the holiday. Victor guesses he's a scrooge. They go to Victoria's house, where Noah has arrived, saying he felt he wanted to be with family. They discuss Victor's absence. Nikki doesn't want them to speak ill of him - she has everything being there, and he has nothing. Nikki proposes a toast to Victor. Sabrina tells him they miss him. She adds that he's a brilliant man, but sometimes he refuses to see things outside his own narrow point of view. She warns if he does nothing about it, he's doomed.

The ghost of Christmas Yet To Come has arrived in Victor's room. Victor's sick of this nonsense. He is transported to the Abbott Mansion, where he listens to Jack on the phone and learns Victoria took over Beauty of Nature. He also finds out that Jack remarried Nikki. At Victoria and Billy's house, he sees that they had another child, and Victoria tells her husband that their daughter is blissfully is unaware Victor Newman ever existed. Abby is on television talking about all her success. Nick is running Newman Enterprises. Noah comes into his office and Nick acts like a jerk toward him. Victor wonders what happened to Nick - he loved his family more than anything. At a cemetery, Sharon is placing flowers on Adam's grave, recalling how they last spoke when he was in prison. She cries over his murder years before. Victor orders the ghost to take him home right now.

Victor enters his bedroom and sees himself dead in the bed. He realizes he must have died some time ago, and wonders why no one found him. He then sees his family standing at his grave talking about how he was dead for a week when they found him. They all leave after a very brief time. Victor turns to the ghost and tearfully asks why she's doing this to him. He realizes she is Colleen, and she thinks he's done wrong with her heart. He promises her he hasn't, and that the story won't end this way.

Victor awakens back in his bedroom. He sits up and says, "It's Christmas morning." He dresses and goes downstairs, where he gives a maid a Christmas bonus. He instructs her to give bonuses out to the rest of the staff and tell them to take the day off.

Victor visits the Abbott Mansion. He looks at Ashley's ring, congratulates Tucker, hugs Traci, and gives Diane the day off work.

Billy opens the door to Victor, who is armed with flowers and gifts. Victoria is stunned. He enters, and Nikki heaves a happy sigh. Victor gives the children their toys, shakes Nick's hand, hugs Abby, and even smiles at Billy, before stepping out the door. Out on the stoop, he thanks Nikki and wishes her a Merry Christmas.

Back at home, Victor sits by the fire petting his dog. He gives him a big Christmas bone.
