    On the run. (CBS)
Genoa City for the week of June 9 - 13:

Considering any changes made behind-the-scenes at "Y&R" could take months to translate onscreen, something needs to happen over there ASAP. Thoughts:

The confessions of Avery Bailey Clark.
The one saving grace of this storyline is that someone we actually care about - Paul - was the one to get shot, so we could at least feel something about that. To think viewers sat through months of Avery's cooking show for it all to climax with some newbie holding her at gunpoint to make a confession about something that was already a matter of public record...no words. As for the scene that unfolded in Austin's apartment, well the GCPD have never looked more inept. I'm not even going to expand on that because we all saw how implausible it was for Austin to have gotten away and how utterly unbelievable Courtney seems as a cop. Bottom line - as discussed in last week's rant, few viewers are invested enough in Avery as a damsel in distress or the 'Super Dylan' routine for this to have worked.

    On the run.
Apparently the teen summer storyline this year is Summer going on the run with a newbie we barely know and don't care about, who got Paul shot. Curiously, Fen, who is regularly in Summer's business, has gone completely missing in action. What can you even say? They should have kept Jamie around and developed the teen scene properly. Read Soaps.com's interview with Daniel Polo, in which he discusses his Daytime Emmy nomination and the role of Jamie.

    My two dads.
There was plenty of foreshadowing this week about Summer's paternity, so let's hope that reveal isn't too far down the pike. Meanwhile, Sharon continued to push Mariah on everyone. Noah spent a good two or three scenes being completely outraged over Mariah's presence at the bar and then suddenly agreed to work with her at the end of the episode. Huh?

    Double cheeseburger.
The scene with Noah and Courtney looking at constellations in the park was breathtakingly inane. Dreadful.

    Sleeping with the nanny. (CBS)
    Down under.
Billy has seemed like a different character entirely in recent weeks - perhaps due to an effort to take the recast in a new direction, who knows? In any case, the guy is so obsessed with uncovering a secret he isn't even sure exists that he can't see straight. Chelsea, for all her talk of wanting him back with Victoria, is clearly lapping up his attention despite her protests to her blunt-as-ever mother, Anita. In Australia, it took Chelsea and Billy mere minutes to convince Jenna to let them into her home, even though Stitch had called to warn her someone might show up. Yeeps. Back at home, Stitch and Kelly held more cryptic conversations about 'what he did' and he worked up to coming clean with Victoria but kept getting interrupted. Hopefully this secret is worthy of all the buildup. Where do you stand on the goings-on Down Under? Vote in Soaps.com's Y&R Poll: Should Chelsea and Billy hook-up?

    Transplant.
Well, we all figured that Paul getting shot would pave the way to revealing Dylan as his son, and that theory appears to be right on track. As hunky as he is, Detective Harding hanging around the hospital to point the finger at Dylan for being responsible was a tad annoying. Why wasn't he out looking for Austin? Speaking of hotties, Leslie's hubby, Barton, turned out to be Paul's surgeon and made a notable first impression on female viewers. Suddenly Leslie's actions made perfect sense. Rawr! Christine kicking Nikki out of the hospital was also an interesting diversion. If she was that ticked off about Nikki's presence in the corridor, she's bound to go completely nuts when she learns Nikki and Paul share a child. Yike!

    Father's Day.
The writing is clearly on the wall for Neil and Hilary, who described him in the groan-worthy bonding scene with Sharon as 'stable'. Ouch. The Father's Day shenanigans at the Club were amusing, especially Colin sharing prison/circus stories with the grandkids, and the bit about Moses thinking his father is sleeping with the nanny. What transpired after that, however, was the proverbial train wreck in slow motion - you know it's going to happen and can only watch in horror. Neil proposed. Honestly this man just cannot wait to be married to someone - anyone! As far as I'm concerned, whatever happens now, he deserves it.

This show is definitely a train wreck, there is not a strong enough word in the English language to say how boring it is.
Great cast, being so wrongly used. Avery and Dylan could be dynamic like a Luke and Laura of GH days gone by or anyone but instead talk about boring...again not a strong enough word.
Summer? You want everyone to think your all grown up, grow up. OMG, painful.
I hope Sharon remembers soon and I hope Dylan is Paul's. WE need new writers ASAP, seriously off to GH I go if rumours are true and Billy Miller is heading that way. Phyllis and now Billy. Perhaps Steve Burton should go on back because Y&R is heading to the basement. Crap, Boring, horrible horrible show.

saw the paul/nikki/dylan thing coming days ago . . . please, please take the summer character and make her go far, far away . . . take sharon and her secrets and bury them really, really, deep . . . and ya wanna write a good 'soap'? start watching seasons' worth of dallas, hill street blues, scandal, . . . too little crap being drag out too, too long

Your comments are right on once again Candace.

I am hoping for a Billy/Chelsea hook-up for two reasons. One - to totally tick off Victoria and two - to bring Adam out of hiding. This would bring some excitement back to the show!

I have no words for Summer's behaviour - let's hope this story winds up very quickly along with numerous other storylines that have been dragging on far too long.

steve burton is one the reasons the show is boring .|!they need to recast the 3 dumb blonds .summer coutney and abby.i had hopes when jean came on as writer but shes been a major fail.THEY NEED TO FIRE JIL AND BRING BACK MICHAEL MUHNEY ,NO ONE BUT MM CAN PLAY ADAM.I have a feeling Mariah will figure out Sharon's secrete, but keep it a secrete.

As was said about the president yesterday, What's he doing? He's taking a nap. Ditto these writers! Kudos to Christine for kicking Nikki off Paul's bedside, she has no business there. She left Paul for Victor. Victoria was wrong to tell her mother that she belonged by Paul's side. Nikki thinks she should have anything she wants, well not someone elses husband. She'll be right back holding Paul's hand and I hope Christine bawls her out again and Victor does too.

Victoria is so childish. Why do they have her acting that way?

Are the writers/producers trying to make Summer ridiculous?Well, officially succeeded! The actress can barely act and has barely improved but giving her story lines like this make her impossible to watch. And please, please tell me this is not going to be a long drawn out story line! What a waste! Paul getting shot does have rooting value, for sure, but where were all his friends and family? Now, I adore Chris McKenna(Det. Mark Harding)but yes, he could have been better utilized. How about having him chase Austin the weasel down? Ah, my heart is beating faster already! He's someone I'd like to see have a contract/love life/family/ ties to other families in Genoa City. And yes, totally agree, Neil gets what he deserves. No one goes from what Hilary was to all suffering, all forgiving like they are trying to portray Hilary. Ugh, I wouldn't care if I never saw that character ever again. And hey, they are just making Lily look shrill! That's a smart, talented woman. Let that part of her personality show!

One of the worst things for me about this dreadful Austin/Summer storyline is that we now have yet another character on canvas that we will have to sit through episode after episode and listen to one or more characters talk about how awful they are and another one talking about "they're really a good person who did something bad." It's bad enough this happens with Hilary and a bit with Mariah. It's just inane and completely ridiculous.

Speaking of Hilary though...I can't stand her but someone seriously needs to have a come to Jesus meeting with the girl about Neil. How can she not see that Neil is basically looking to hire someone to be his wife. Why on earth isn't Lily, Devon or anyone else bringing up Neil's less than stellar past with relationships and that he has rushed more than one relationship to the altar( Karen, Sofia) only to lose interest once married?

Everyone posting is right on. This show is soo boring it is painful. Why on earth do Sony and CBS let this continue. So aggravating. They took a good show, chased away all the talent and turned it all into garbage.

Laughed at Moses thinking Hilary was a nanny/sitter; however, I EXPECTED MORE. I'd hoped Hilary would get upset having a small child around for the summer...thus draw her and Devon closer. If Moses doesn't cramp their sex, I for one will be really disappointed in his visit!
