Ghost gone?

Same day update:

Jerry Douglas saw Soaps.com's article on Twitter and tweeted us to confirm that he is definitely not with "Y&R" any longer. He posted:

Original article March 3:

It appears as though Jerry Douglas' days as Genoa City's John Abbott may have finally come to an end. Inside information indicates that Douglas is no longer with "Y&R," where he had still been making appearances as John's ghost once or twice a month until as recently as December 2013. As for the reason, a post on Douglas' official fan page on Facebook suggests that the writers have decided not to include the John Abbott character in future scripts. Pam Rogers, who does social media on Douglas' behalf, posted the following on January 30, "Some very sad news for fans of Jerry Douglas, 'John Abbott,' on 'The Y&R'! The writers do not want to write for the character of 'John' anymore. Jerry agreed to do a show at least once a month, and that has not been happening."
