    I'm no one! (CBS)
    Restless Rant
    Week of July 8 – 12:

There was some very big drama this week on "Y&R" that clearly illustrated how amazing acting and core characters that viewers really care about can draw out emotions. Thoughts:

    My little girl.
Not everyone was thrilled with Cassie appearing to Sharon, but it fit in the storyline. Obviously Sharon’s become somewhat unhinged again – no telling whether she’s off her meds or what, but seeing a vision of Cassie, or Cassie acting as her conscience, worked in this instance. Who else could she talk to about her plan to win Nick back? It certainly bolstered suspicions that she monkeyed with that paternity test. Anyway, it was interesting that Cassie warned her that it may not turn out as she hopes.

    Nick’s lie.
The big reveals to Jack and Summer packed an emotional wallop thanks to the actors involved. The jumping back and forth from Chicago to Jack’s living room was distracting; could have done without that, but the reactions were on the money. The ball was dropped, though, when Summer finally realized what it meant for her and Kyle. When a girl that age is madly in love it’s everything. There should have been hysterics once that realization kicked in. Without a doubt the change in 'Kyles' has made for a weak link in this storyline. When Summer broke the paternity news to Kyle at Boulevard it was no exception. This should have been a huge moment, but fell totally flat. Another miss: that Nick didn’t question Sharon’s calm acceptance when he told her what he had done. This changed the course of their lives back then. Even though Sharon has secretly known for a while, she should have at least pretended to be shocked.

    I deserve a drink.
Jack’s not going to be much help for Billy for long. He’s ogled/fondled that bottle of scotch in his living room three times this week! Why would it even be there?

    911.
So, Fen overdosed and nearly killed himself on purpose just to frame Carmine? Really? This kid is a disaster waiting to happen. Now he’s got Michael going all 'hothead' and gunning for Carmine. Something tells me this is going to spin out of control...

    Evanston 2007.
Are they suggesting there's a connection between Neil and Rose? What are the odds that Neil would end up involved with Leslie, a woman whose incarcerated father had a relationship with a woman in another city who Neil crossed paths with back in his drinking days? Bit of a stretch... Enjoyed the Jill/Neil scenes – people we know, who know each other - yay!

    Finky Fen. (CBS)
His mind wasn’t on work anyway.
Judging by her remarks, her manipulative spin about Jill, and her eyeballs on Cane and Lily at dinner, it seems Hilary definitely has an agenda.

    Bachelor pad.
Courtney's crush on Noah is cute. The party at Noah and Tyler’s place seemed like a good idea – the show certainly needs a little fun and sexy energy, but it then seemed to be solely about setting the scene for Abby and Tyler to kiss. Despite the definite heat between them, the lasting impression was that Abby was acting out-of-character. In no universe would she have asked Tyler why he was flirting with her instead of the brunettes. Our Abby would have known exactly why he was flirting with her and played him all night until he was wrapped around her little finger. Then, and only then, would she have exited and left him wanting more.

    Outclassed.
Melanie was outplayed, outclassed, fired, and dumped by the Newman men. Yet, she stayed in town. Sigh…

    Ambushed.
No question viewers felt the intensity of Dylan's emotions when he told Chelsea about Afghanistan. Awesome. Unfortunately, the laundry list of woes this dude has suffered is so long it just feels like overkill at this point. The guy has lost his true love, a baby, his dad, his friend Sully, his whole unit, a family that saved him, a little girl he tried to save...and he's going to get kicked in the teeth again when he finds out Chelsea's baby is Adam's. We get it! We feel sorry for him! As for Chelsea talking about her miscarriage and telling Dylan maybe they'd gone through it all to get to where they are now, with their baby - just no. It's like she believes her own lie. On another note, loved seeing Jeffrey this week, and how Anita's presence makes Chelsea squirm.

    Billy’s bender.
Billy continued to gamble, and Victoria saw him collect his winnings just as she was about to give him another chance (thanks to Victor). Ouch. I've no idea why, given history, that Victoria doesn't immediately suspect Victor of being involved when bad things are happening. We do! Anyway, Chloe continued to offer Billy support, and even a kiss. Here’s the lay of the land on this one - Chloe 'gets' Billy in a way Victoria doesn’t, and they have fantastic chemistry, but based on history and his feelings for Victoria, going a romantic route with Billy would definitely be a risk for Chloe. Do you think Billy and Chloe could fall in love and reunite? Vote:

Loved your take on some of the stories. I found myself laughing out loud at all of Dylan's woes from his past history. Quite an entertaining rant this week. Thanks!

No way! I don't see Chilly happening! Writers might push it but it won't work very well. Getting each other is not enough on which to base a romance between these two. Chloe loved BA but he never reciprocated those feelings--EVER! Besides Vikki will always be looming in the background & in BA's mind.

Chelsea's lie just might be the straw that broke the camel's back(pun intended) where Dylan is concerned. What if he goes all crazy when he finds out and shoots the whole town?

The biggest story of the week -- Summer not being Nick's -- fell flat for me because it's probably not true, and we know it. Also the story with Chelsea and her baby is not true, and we know it, so we can't buy into it. Therefore it's very hard to care.

So true about Dylan, he's the new Biblical Job. What more can happen to his poor man? Well, we know what more can happen. Chelsea is in serious denial now and it's sick to watch her play this game. I think she's just decided that Dylan is the father and that's all their is to it.

Fen's lie (jeez, does ANYONE know how to tell the truth?) is reminiscent of the lie he told about Jamie, to get rid of him. I guess this is how he cuts people out of his life, by charging them with crimes. Unfortunately, Michael hates Carmine too much to ask any questions. Now he is completely backing his son.

I hate that they are destroying Billy and his marriage.

I could not care less about Rose.

I doubt very much Fen tried to OD on purpose to frame Carmine. He almost died and we saw him buying drugs before although they moved his drug issues at warped speed. I just think when he woke up and saw his parents standing over him he saw it as an oppotunity to get off the hooks and pay back Carmine for using him and manipulating him and to get Carmine out of their lives.

Michael should have his doubts since he found Fen passed out on the floor but Carmine has been so obnoxious and obsessive that he is letting himself believe what Fen is saying. Lauren always seems to give Fen the benefit of the doubt and Fen uses that by telling her that she knows him better than anyone and knows he wouldn't go out to find drugs. She likely has doubts also but again wants Carmine out of her life.

Fen has issues to be sure that Likey should be dealing with but Carmine is bringing so much of this on himself because of his own arrogance, obsessiveness and lack of respecting boundaries. He needed and needs to just move on but he refuses.

Once again I'm very entertained by your commentary.

The Summer / Jack finding out was anticlimactic for me. And the editing, like you said. Why? It took Summer too long IMO to connect the dots about Kyle. That would be an immediate thought! Duh.

The Fen character and his comb-over really get on my nerves. Lying again and Michael this time falling blindly for it.

Dylan the sad sack. I wish they would get rid of him instead of making his character more important with bring Snitch or Scratch or whatever on. Ugh.

Thank God for DVR. We fast forward right through the Rose business. I don't hate Neil and Leslie. They were a hot couple in the beginning. But this new crap of someone blackmailing him with his past that wasn't even that bad!? What is that? My husband is wondering where the exciting Summer (the season) storylines are?

This week's shows felt like a return to the past to me since it showcased more of the vets, especially with the paternity S/L. I loved it and for the most part I was happy with the way the week went. It felt more like the old Y&R. I agree with you about Summer not showing more shock and heartbreak after the light dawned about Kyle but overall I think Hunter King and all others involved did a great job. I forgot, until recently, how good Billy and Chloe are together. Although I like Billy and Victoria together I don't think they will ever have a happy life as long as Victoria keeps running home to daddy dearest.

Despite how badly I think Victoria treats Billy ( she expects his 100% support but is never willing to give that to him), I just don't see Billy and Chloe mutually falling in love. At best on the romance level, Billy has seen Chloe as a friend with benefits. Even when Billy married Chloe, it was obvious it was more out of obligation than anything.

And omg, good points on Nick not picking up on Sharon's lack of shock over Summer's paternity. I mean Nick's always been a dim bulb, especially when it comes to Sharon but still...

Billy and Chloe have more chemistry than Billy and Victoria have ever had. And though their past relationship may not have worked out that doesn't mean it wouldn't work out this time now that Billy is clearly over "what might have been" with Mac like he was in 2009.

Billy has bought a baby, ran off, got another woman pregnant, lied about Victoria's father being dead, and is now gambling. And Victoria has henpecked her husband for years while whining and crying about babies and her father. Now, when her husband needs her she knicks him to the curb. Chloe at least is offering him support. Seeing someone through new eyes isn't hard when they are one offering you help when the one who should have been there turned their back on you.

Good review CXandice. I think Summer (Hunter?) is one of the best new actresses. Jacks performance was steller this week as always. Lily still jealous of Tyler is still dumb. Could Rose's daughter Ann be Neil's daughter? Boy! Nick sure let Sharon & Faith down after she cooked for them.I don't see Chloe taking Victoria's place in Billy's life, even though she should have some chees with her whine. Now we know for sure Victor has been behind Billy's relapse.
