So sad... I have been a Fan of Y&R since summer of 1973 when my Grandma and I watched it together. I was so hooked on the show that she used letting me stay home from school one friday a month to watch with her if I kept A's and B's in all my classes! lol It worked!!! Jeanne Cooper as Mrs. "C" was one of my favorite characters! Had to watch to find out when she would next "kick Jill's butt"! I am sure there are many Fans who know more about Katharine's life than they do about some of their family members! She will be greatly missed!!!

I am happy to hear of the tribute, I can't think of anyone more deserving. I am deeply saddened by her passing. I offer my sincere sympathy to her family. She was such a bright light in this world, things will be a little bit darker now. In a world that celebrates wanna be stars they call celebrities this woman was truly a STAR AND CELEBRITY. I have watched Y&R since the beginning and will miss her terribly. I hope that the writers do her justice and write her an exit that is up to the fans standards. There is no way to replace her. There is no one that can fill her shoes.
May she rest in peace. Goodbye Duchess.

nevermind...for some reason the date was not listed on the post but I see it now listed that it will air May 28th - looking forward to hearing, wished it was sooner but I assume they already had the current episodes taped. She will be greatly missed and NO they should not recast her role. Just let it be.

I started watching Y&R when I was 13 years old - I am now 53...I remember the very 1st 30 minute episode. I always loved the character of Katherine Chancellor...so classy, and wealthy...yet down to earth. Her character revealed that money doesn't make you a good person, your heart does. Jeannie Cooper was a one-of-a-kind...there will never be another. He character always took out time for everyone...from the poorest to the richest...she never made differences between people based on their social status...she told it like it was but always with grace, tact, and gentleness. She will truly be missed and I for one will miss her on Y&R. The soap-opeara world has lost an icon and will never be the same. RIP Mrs. "C"...RIP.

I was saddened to hear the news about the death of
Jeanne Cooper. I have watched Y&R since the beginning and she was a marvelous actress whose contribution to the show was immeasurable. The show has just lost a valuable asset in the loss of this character. Rest in peace duchess - you will be missed by many.

Mrs. C. My most favorite charactor. What an elegant lady. I just loved everything about her. Always the lady (even in her fiestiest moments) Her wardrobe was stunning befitting a woman of her charactor. What a shock that she is no longer with us. My deepest, heartfelt sympathy to her family.

My deepest sympathies to Ms. Cooper's family and her work family - the cast a crew of Y&R. She was and is my favorite and i will miss her presence on the show. No one can take her place as Mrs. C. Ms. Cooper was fascinating to watch, her presence owned every scene. Her strength in sharing so much of her real life with Y&R and her fans is a true inspiration for all of us. I can not imagine how hard it will be for the cast to work with out her. Please do not recast Mrs. C. NO ONE can take Jeanne Cooper's place or fill her shoes. We are now missing a truly great, beautiful, giving woman who shared her kindness, love and joy with not only those who knew and continue to love her but also with her fans who also love her. She will be missed for a very long time to come.
