The Duchess seemed like a member of my family. God bless her family and friends. May she rest in peace and she will be missed on the young and the restless.

As much as it saddens me even more than I am already about the passing of our "duchess", it really is almost fitting that the last scene we have of Jeanne on Y&R is of her going up the stairs with Jill sadly watching.
As far as what the show will do now...usually soaps are pretty good about acknowledging the death of longtime actors by having their character pass on as one else could possibly play Katherine so while it will be sad to see the death of's just really the only way.

I was so sorry to hear about Jeanne Cooper's passing. I have watched "The Duchess" since the beginning of Y&R. There is no other Duchess, so please don't recast the part. Give Mrs. C a proper burial so we can all grieve this incredible woman who's been such a part of our lives for 40 years. To Jeanne's real-life family, I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all. RIP Jeanne Cooper aka Katherine Chancellor aka"the Duchess". You are greatly missed.

RIP Jeanne aka Duchess you will never be replaced in our hearts. To us fans you were family to us,we grieve just like your family and friends. I think they should do her departure as her saying good night going to bed, murphy wakes up realizes something is wrong, and she has died. That way it fits perfectly with her dying in her sleep. Do not replace the Duchess as she can never be replaced.

She was a remarkable woman. I have watched every episode of Y&R since it started in March of 1973. Mrs. "C" was a core character and she will be missed. She was the type of person that you could love even though you had never met her. She became family on a daily basis. I was always so amazed at how she continued at the age of 84, remembering lines, playing the feisty Mrs. "C". I am sure the producers at Y& R are trying to decide how to handle this but this is one fan who says please do not try and replace her. They tried it with Michel Learned, she was great on Little House on the Prairie, but I did not feel that she had the role right. I loved Jeanne Cooper. May she rest in peace and to Corbin and all the members of your family my thoughts and prayers go with you. You are an amazing son giving her fans updates. Thank you. With Love to you always Mrs."C" You will be missed.xxoo

I miss her so much.I think it will be something having to do with the tumor that was removed.Maybe there was another one they missed. Some people thing she'll be recast.I thing Young And Restless has more class then that. She was an icon. And there will never be another Katherine Chancellor.R.I.P. Jeanne.

I have been a fan of Jeanne Cooper since the 50's and 60's. She was in almost every WESTERN i watched growing up. Wagon Train, Gun Smoke, Bonanza, Have gun will Travel. etc. She was great and what an actress. Y&R came after i had already fell in love with her and i LOVED MRS. C, Mrs Chancellor, The DUCHESS whatever u want to call her and I DONT THINK SHE SHE SHOULD BE RECAST. LET HER GO AND REST IN PEACE. NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE CAN EVERY REPLACE THE BELOVED MRS. KATHERINE CHANCELLOR..GIVE HER A PROPER FARWELL AND GOOD BYE ON THE SHOW. SHE DESERVES THAT RESPECT. RIP JEANNE AND THANK U FOR SHARING 60 YRS OF YOUR LIFE WITH ME.

Such a beautiful and classy lady. I don't want her role to be recast, but she should be given a Y&R send-off befitting the Duchess.
