Y&R's Kate Linder And Lauralee Bell's Tributes To Jeanne Cooper.

    Wednesday, May 08 2013

    Cooper. (Nikki Nelson/Wenn.com)
    The matriarch.

Following the sad news that Jeanne Cooper passed away today, Soaps.com received statements from her co-stars, Kate Linder (Esther) and Lauralee Bell (Christine), both of whom shared special relationships with the actress.

Kate Linder said, "My heart is breaking for Jeanne Cooper's wonderful family and for all of us who truly loved Jeanne through the years. Jeanne was my mentor and an amazing actress and friend. We've been through so much together and I loved her like family. She and Bill Bell were the two people most responsible for my career on 'Y&R,' and the world is a darker place without them. When Jeanne welcomed you into her life, you knew it and it was a fantastic feeling. This is truly the end of an era, not just for fans of 'The Young and the Restless,' but for all of the people she touched throughout her long and distinguished career and life. She's always been larger than life and an inspiration to me and so many others. I can't imagine a world without Jeanne Cooper - it won't be the same without her fighting spirit and lust for life and to say she will be missed is an understatement for what we are all feeling today."

Lauralee Bell issued the following statement:

"Jeanne was the matriarch of the show in every sense of the word. When you did work you were proud of, you'd hope for approval or a 'good job' from Jeanne as a child would from a parent. When things got too tense, she'd break the tension with her amazing wit. She would teach the younger actors without ever talking down to them. In fact, she would raise them up. She always had my back and my parents (and our whole family) always had hers. I am so grateful that Jeanne and I were on 'Marie' together last month with my mom - what a gift to sit next to her and hold hands. When she saw me breaking down watching a clip of my late dad, she rescued me on camera by speaking of her gratitude towards him and the ways he had helped her. She squeezed my hand harder and had my back yet again. Like everything else Jeanne did, she was very brave. I know she was the light of her family. I will miss her so much!"

Soaps.com extends deepest condolences to Jeanne Cooper's family, friends, and co-workers. She will be greatly missed.

To all of Jeanne Cooper family and friends, and co workers, she will always be in our hearts, and prayers, what a wonderful lady she was.She was a wonderful actress, and in my eyes the BEST. No one could ever fill her shoes, or place on Y & R, she truly was one of a kind. I am also heart broken, because I didn't have a good life, and a mother who never wanted me since birth, so I was verbally and physically abused. I always wished that Jeanne Cooper would be a good mother figure for me. I always listened to her advice, and cried because I wanted her for a mother. Now, God has taken her home to a better place, were there is no more pain and suffering. May God bless her family and her television family, all of you and I, will really miss this GRAND woman.God really got a angel when he took our Jeanne Cooper. My prayers are for all of you on Y&R..and her sons.

Ms. Cooper will be miss by all she was an amazing lady. I always enjoyed watching her, her laugh, silliness when it was needed. All her years on Y&R were amazing but she was her very best last couple years and more beautiful than when I saw her recently on Gunsmoke, she was so good. My condolences to the family n colloquies. Rest in Peace Jeanne!

I just got home from a league I play on WEDS and am totally heartbroken upon hearing this horrible news!!! I was under the impression she was getting better and the crisis averted!!! As tear flow down my cheeks as I type, and as a Y&R watcher from the very 1st episode, it's just like one of my own family members has passed!! My heartfelt thoughts and prayers to her family and friends and to the entire Y&R Family and NATION! I believe they need to honor her in life as in death and include this sad daytime note into the show. NOONE can permanently replace Jeanne Cooper. I LOVE Michael Learned but, although she did a fabulous job SUBBING for Ms. Cooper, she can NOT take over the role. that's been Jeanne's for decades!!! We can only hope and pray Y&R does the right thing and gives us ALL the chance to grieve and go on w/o our Mrs. C.!!!!!!!
