    Shot. (CBS)
    Restless Rant
    Week of March 25 - 29:

It was all about drama on "Y&R" this week. I'm enjoying the gist of some storylines - others, not so much. Check out some thoughts:

    Shot in the back.
Adam taking a bullet for Victor changed everything and yet nothing as Adam lapsed into a coma too soon to appreciate the new dynamic. It was definitely interesting to see/hear the reactions to him saving Victor's life, and the interaction between Sharon and Chelsea in the hospital. Bonus was Chelsea's new attitude about telling Adam she's preggers, and Victoria overhearing her admission. Loving this plot twist all the way around!

    In for questioning.
It's amazing to have Alex and Paul as the new faces of the GCPD, but methinks it will be new power couple, Victor and Jack, who will break Wheeler and/or Bob the henchman. The interesting thing is that Neil has figured out the missing piece of the puzzle - Wheeler had the affair with Belinda. Imagine if they all got together on this... Anyway, who didn't love Jack and Victor sparring/realizing they needed to work together this week? Awesome.

    Billy's da' bomb.
After his harrowing brush with certain death, Billy's back to baby-making. I'm all for romance, but Billy needs to have a whole lot more going on besides domesticity. As for trying fertility treatments - refresh my memory - why didn't they go this route before?

Summer's crush on Kyle continues to be less than thrilling - especially when the guy has way more chemistry with her mom.

    Papers. (CBS)
    Lost panties.
Noah is another guy who needs a legit storyline, and I'm not seeing much evidence that tacky Adriana has grown on viewers despite her association with Katherine, or having an appealing brother. Meh.

It's tough to even work up an opinion on Nick's non-proposal to Avery. I will say the E-Z Bake oven cake was cute... but perhaps not enough to negate what's cookin' between her and Dylan - unfinished business?

The idea of Michael calling Lauren's bluff by threatening an official split seemed a hair extreme, but also kind of ingenious. Unfortunately, the more attached Carmine becomes to Lauren, and the more time she spends around him in public places - the more likely that Michael will find out about her affair, and then the layout of the rocky marital land will completely change again.

    The hug.
Loved the scenes with Cane showing concern for Katherine's memory issues and taking her to the hospital - but, again, it's very unusual that Murphy, Jill, and Esther, who live and work with her, wouldn't already be on top of this. In any case, Cane was soon dealing with other things - like the sight of his wife hugging Tyler. It seemed like Cane was definitely fed up. Here's hoping this scene plays out instead of viewers being 'jumped' to another scene like this never happened.

    Stealing from the rich?
There's no legit reason for Chloe to be hard up for money, let alone engaged in yet another ridiculous 'scheme' to pay bills. Chloe grew up after reconciling with Esther, becoming a mother to Delia, and being involved with Chance. The chemistry-free marriage to Kevin was the beginning of a downhill ride for her - can't buy her stealing at all. Kevin's another story as he seems to have reverted to his old ways one day, and is a paragon of virtue doling out sage advice the next. What do you think? Weigh in by voting in's Y&R Thick As Thieves Poll.

There were some great dialog scenes this week: Victor and Jack, Victor/Sharon/Chelsea, Paul and Alex, and Billy and Victoria. As for Victoria - she was told she cannot have children, it wasn't a matter of not being able to conceive, it was a matter that she could not bear children. This fertility storyline is erasing her previous diagnosis.
I know that Cane had to go jump to conclusions again regarding Lily and Tyler, but why didn't he stay with Mrs C at the hospital, or at least call Jill. Or Murphy. Or Esther. This whole Katherine storyline has been handled very strangely.

Agree... Chloe doesn't need to steal. The storyline is almost an insult to any person in real life who is struggling. Michael has $$, Katherine has $$ - no one would watch Chloe and Kevin WHO HAVE DELIA LIVING WITH THEM, loose their electricty - plus, they could freakin' move in with Katherine who has more space than one person needs...

During the shooting - ummm... where was the ranch security - a gun goes off and Paul and Alex come running but not one person who works at the ranch - fire them all! What's the sense of having 'good' help if they are not good. And the whole Nicki thing made me want to puke... I know no one ever wants to leave their loved on in a dangerous situation - but after a few times of being told to leave - leave. What about the other people like your grandchildren and such who don't want you to get hurt or killed. If you can't be of help - get out... seriously. First time, yes, people panic it's your instinct, but how many bombs and roofs can these people have fall on them until they realize let the pros do their jobs and stay out of their way....

And that doctor at the hospital needs to be fire - I don't even care in TV soap land - what right did he have to discuss Adam's coma with Sharon before he did with Chelsea or with Victor... Sharon is not family - so where did he get off divulging so much info to her...
yes, poetic license but all the show seems to do these days is take poetic license... and the characters and players change so much - one needs to score card to keep up...

    Seriously been loosing interest...

I agree it's extremely unusual that those closest to Katherine (Murphy, Esther, and Jill) don't seem to be noticing anything. Are we supposed to believe they haven't see the same signs that Cane managed to see in a matter of minutes?
And ugh, Kevin and Chloe... I don't get why the writers ( the old ones and the new ones) are so intent on pushing this couple and a storyline that doesn't work! Candace, not only are you right in that it's hard to believe Chloe would be hard up for money but what's stupid is that Kevin and Chloe who have supposedly become "better people" are more willing to steal money than they are to ask for it from people like Katherine who would help them out in a minute.

Tired of Tyler. Chloe and Kevin can sell their house and rent. There would be a profit. Have they somehow ruined their coffee house business? Sell it too. What is the point if Adrianna still being in GC? Does she really help Mrs.C? Poor Devon. Gone without a proper mentioning. Nikki was pathetic after the shooting. She and Victor so deserve each other. Also thought Victoria couldn't have any more kids. Murphy and Jill are MIA. What gives? New police office. Finding that I don't care what happens to Lauren. Summer is going to be trouble. Ship her off to college as soon as she graduates.

I guess Sharon will be running Newman again. How did that work the last time? It's hard to believe anyone can just walk in off the street & run a large conglomerate. Why is Lily always hugging Tyler when she knows how Cane feels about him? This s/l with Lauren is more interesting than another go around with Sheila, Carmine has a history of possiveness with women, remember the singer? Michael is aure to find out.

If Adrianna is Kay's personal assistant she should be fired. The writers must have forgotten that Vicky can't carry a baby to full term. I thought they should have gotten a surrogate when they were trying to adopt. Why would she even go through all the trouble to get pregnant?

Posted by bikette at Saturday, March 30 2013 09:04 AM

Chole stealing from Kay to pay the electric bill, GMAB! Isn't she working at Jabot now? So shouldn't she at least be getting some sort of a pay check?

the whole baby thing with Victoria has been ridiculous from day one, she has eggs he has sperm and they have money so they could have had 3-4 kids by now SURROGATE!!!! It was okay for Lily and Cane but everyone else is too stupid to think of it??? It happens everyday, writers have gotten so damn dumb and unbelievable it is truly sad. They waste real talent with dumb rehashed stories, and act like the viewers are a bunch of brain dead turnips with a worse memory then Catherine's!

Candace, thank you so much for your rant. I've been watching Y&R since it first aired, but stopped watching Y&R months ago, because it had become so ridiculous. I still love some of the characters (Victor, Katherine, Nikki, Phyllis, etc.) so I read your rant to find out what's going on. I was a Phick fan and the way the writers ended that relationship was an insult to my intelligence. In my opinion, Avery & Nick have zero chemistry. When will the writers realize that Phyllis & Jack are friends and there's not one romantic spark between them. Then, when I read a spoiler about Phyllis/Summer/Nick/Jack, I was done. The characters that I always loved became unrecognizable. Sharon was just destroyed and I couldn't stand to look at her anymore.

Candace love your rant, just can't stand to watch the show anymore. So, I'll keep reading your rant and hope that one day this show can make me want to watch again.
