    Perilous pick-up. (CBS)
    Restless Rant
    Week of March 18 - 20:

It was a short week for "Y&R" due to NCAA Basketball March Madness, but it was still eventful. A few points to ponder:

    Surprise guest.
There were a few unexpected guests at the Newman wedding but the cutest was Reed Hellstrom. Kudos to Billy for pulling off his latest surprise for Victoria - very sweet. It would be great if Delia had been in the mix - miss Billy's scenes with his daughter. Also, I didn't understand Victor's reaction to Billy showing up at the wedding when he insisted upon his presence when he unveiled the ranch etc. Inconsistent.

    Taking advantage.
Someone should tell Ashley that Phyllis had to have her arm twisted a considerable amount to be convinced to date Jack again - far from taking advantage of him. That said, many of us agree with Ash that Phyllis and Jack should be a no-go - for various reasons. It was great to see Ashley.

    Negative Nick.
What's with Nick scowling at everyone and everything these days - quite the curmudgeon. His latest dislike was Abby flirting with Alex - gimme a break. Worse, he was still asking Avery to drop the Rogan case - proving he doesn't 'get' her at all - right before talking about their future together.

    Ceremony.
The latest real wedding ceremony between Nikki and Victor was romantic as always. Loved the tension of the henchman tending bar in the background.

    Limbo.
It's kind of sad what's going on with Michael and Lauren. I'm in a love/hate relationship with Lauren and Carmine's fling - hate that it hurts Michael and the marriage, but love the passion between Lauren and her boy toy. Gah.

    Perilous pick-up.
Sharon appearing at the Newman door to pick-up Faith certainly earned her some more scorn. Why wouldn't they have sent Faith to Sharon's house with a nanny or security guard? Guess that would have been no fun...

    Toast of the town. (CBS)
    Innocent?
The conflict between Tyler and Leslie over their father's innocence or lack thereof is realistic and emotional. It makes sense that Tyler would have such intense feelings toward his father given what he grew up believing. Well done.

    Running away?
Wow, Dylan sure finished Sharon's home repairs in record time. He seemed so sure about staying in Genoa City previously that the sudden lean toward returning to Chicago seems curious - maybe someone will have to ask him to stick around?

    The Adam Newman Show.
What a hoot if the Newmans wind up indebted to Adam for saving Victor's life right after trying to kick him out of the wedding reception. Nice twist.

    All that glitters...
Solid family-time this week with Cane, Lily, and the twins. I didn't see the scenes, so wondered why Lily was with Tyler afterwards when she and Cane recently discussed avoiding him and Chelsea.

    Not what it looks like.
So Summer's weaving her web to catch Kyle. Well, they got caught in a compromising position all right! Would you like a Summer/Kyle pairing? Vote in Soaps.com's Y&R Summer Romance poll.

    So sorry.
Katherine forgets to go to Nikki and Victor's wedding? Even if the writers had to accommodate for Jeanne Cooper being out with the flu, this was a very tough sell - After all, Katherine doesn't live alone - she has Murphy, Esther, and Jill living with her...heck even Adriana knew about the wedding!

So agree, I said the same thing. katherine has too many people around her, that would never have happened.
NO, do not like Kyle and Summer. I guess every young teen has a crush on an older guy, I get it but something is freaky about that pairing cause I think in our minds, way back there, we will still think there is a chance that Summer could be Jack's.
I hate what is happening to Lauren and Michael, hate it!
Nick and Avery are no fun anymore, no sizzle, soemthing happened...oh ya Dylan. Not working anymore.

I didn't buy Katherine not being at the wedding either. It was distracting, looking around going "where is Mrs C" - especially since the Melody Thomas Scott 40th Anniversary spot said that Katherine was Nikki's only friend.
I'm so not into the Kyle/Summer romance - clearly he has way more sparks with Phyllis. That said, it's kind of moot, knowing that Blake Hood has been replaced.

Candance you will be even more confused if you watch the scene. Cane and Lily's conversation today was written as if the last conversation they had never to place. It seems no one is paying attention to what they put on screen.

I'm not liking Kyle and Summer either. Kyle seems way too interested in Phyllis to be involved with her daughter. If the romance between Kyle and Summer goes further, I think that answers the question about Summer's paternity.

Nick has become very boring and grumpy lately. Adam cracks me up - I can't believe I'm saying this but I much prefer seeing Adam on my screen lately!

Great Rant, Thanks. So many questions from these nu writers and no answers are giving me whip lash.So does Murphy forget things too or was Kay going to the wedding alone? Was Lauren thinking it was a good idea to flirt with her boy toy at her brother in law's coffee shop? Ashley going to Vic/Niki's wedding and trying to catch the bouquet. Didn't she divorce him and break up with him over Niki more than once? And this the day after MST/Niki's intro saying how much she disliked Ashley.

Then we have Leslie/Tyler telling us from then beginning how abusive their father was towards their mother. Now they are saying that he never hit her or them and that she was the liar and cheater, sort of like Lauren is being portrayed. My parents were married over 50 yr.s and had their share of arguments during that time, but I NEVER thought of my dad as being abusive towards her or me and my brother. So what are we suppose to believe now, that it was all in their minds that he was abusive? And how come Leslie didn't go to the wedding with Neil?

YES, I am in Limbo also.
Since this is a fantasy world we are discussing, I like the idea of Lauren throwing caution to the wind and enjoying herself and her sexuality for a moment. If I personally could forget my husband, the children, the bills, the weather, and all the other REALITIES of life, (like knowing the difference from right and wrong and STD's), I too would leave my comfort zone for a little while. Who does not want to be made to feel attractive, perfect, sexy and stimulating at the same time without cooking dinner and cleaning house first?

    ______________________
I never liked Nick & Avery, it always seemed forced. Avery has never acted like she needed or wanted a man to take care of her every need and that is Nick's Role. He took care of Sharon, He took care of Phyliss, and he took care of the kids. I hate to say it, but Nick needs to be with Sharon so he can always take care of her. Sharon and Nick will be the new Victor and Nikki---marriage, divorce, remarry.

I agree, no no no on Kyle and Summer.

Yes a few things seemed a little off kelter the past few days. Just after Lily & Canes talk Lily comforts Tyler with a hug. Not good. And Tyler's dad is now not such an abuser after all. Everyone in GC knows everyone elses business but Lauren can go into the bar & sit talking with Carmine, go up to his room and no one knows. She doesn't even worry about being seen? And sitting in Kevin's coffe shop? Mot the usual rendevous scenario, with no secret hide-aways in a out of the way motel.
