    Poor me. (CBS)
    Restless Rant
    Week of February 11 – 15:

This week of "Y&R" was surprisingly dull at times - with some notable exceptions of course. Hopefully this was the build up for next week to be something spectacular. Abby’s return was a highlight – welcome back! Here we go:

    Crash.
We finally learned Nikki’s diagnosis – Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Victoria’s panic at Nikki being sick was palpable and Jack’s comfort and concern was so genuine. This will make Victor feel powerless, which could be a bit of a mess. The question is whether he’ll be able to truly support Nikki, keep the peace for her sake, and focus on traveling and doing whatever she wants to do, when he’d rather be indulging himself in scheming and business.

    Don’t do it.
Paul being Jamie’s champion was amazing - he seems to be the only one left who gives a damn about the kid. Summer and Fen seemed to be far more worried about themselves than the fact that Jamie tried to kill himself, in fact, Fen’s 'poor me' attitude was worse than ever this week! Instead of making Fen take responsibility for tormenting someone to the brink of suicide, Michael began apologizing for having taken a hard line. Michael should have stood his ground even after he learned Jamie lied, because Paul’s sentiments were true – Fen might as well have pushed him – and Fen hasn’t learned a thing. When Summer found Fen hitchhiking, he blamed Jamie for ruining his life. Unbelievable! It's disappointing because the cyber-bullying storyline currently seems to be sending the message to stay away from kids like Jamie altogether because they’ll just mess up your privileged lives. Hopefully this will change. This week, Kyle and Summer crossed paths – I got a 'big brother' vibe from this interaction, and still feel Kyle’s perfect for an older woman – hopefully this wasn’t foreshadowing of a pairing. As for Carmine whispering in Lauren's ear and then kissing her – hottest thing I've seen in eons; puddle on the floor! I so prefer this sort of conflict for Lauren and Michael to the doppelganger and Sheila stuff. What did you think about their close encounter? Let Soaps.com by voting in our Y&R Trouble poll.

    She’s back!
Abby’s return was a highlight despite the news that she appeared to have ditched Carmine while on the road, and that she told Jack she wants to tone things down a bit. Hopefully she keeps her promise to Jack not to be totally boring - I’m looking forward to her spicing things up in Genoa City!

    Cane/Lily/Chelsea/Tyler.
Something's not working here - perhaps it’s just too transparent what the writers are trying to do with these characters and their interactions, which gives it a scripted feel. When conflicts and/or attractions happen between couples or people who work together organically, viewers are irresistibly drawn in.

    Gah! (CBS)
    Wheeler dealer.
The Wheeler intimidation stuff was a bit of a yawn this week. We don’t really believe he’s going to best Victor, so what’s the point?

    Avery and her men.
Avery’s being as wishy-washy as ever. She's basically caught between two men who seem a lot alike and with the shock and excitement of Dylan returning from the dead waning, the prospects for this story seem a bit more bleak than they did last week.

    Adam and his women.
What is supposed to be going on with Sharon and Adam? Does she want him or not? They can’t seem to resist each other - such a steamy kiss on Friday! As for Chelsea, who really hasn’t proven to be an overly popular character, becoming pregnant for the third time in a row – file this under ‘What are they thinking?’

    Just get a room.
Sorry, even characters like Billy, Nikki, and Summer saying that Phyllis and Jack should be together, isn’t going to sell it. Jack makes Phyllis boring rather than dynamic, and it’s got a very tired recycled feeling to it. This pairing needs to stay firmly in the 'friendzone'.

    This booth is reserved.
Nick and the man giving love advice in Avery’s booth at The Underground - what was that all about?

Thanks Candace. I wonder if Victor's warning to Jack stay away from Niki will be the death of Vic/Niki. If Niki waits to tell Vic about her MS and Jack continues to be her supportive friend, will Victor take Jack down once again and tick off Niki for the LAST time?

The drunk guy in the bar is Avery's ex-husband. I have heard a theory that Avery's ex is Jamie's Dad, which would Avery Jaime's ex-stepMum. I hope this isn't true as I am tired of the way all the character's need to be blood related to each other. In the real world we have strangers become part of our lives & they're not revealed as a list relative.

I thought Jamie's dad was in jail.

If everyone is worried about Phyllis and Jack being boring, no worries, as soon as Phyllis heres about Dylan she will either go running to Nick to be his shoulder or she will be all over Dylan. Phyllis won't last with Jack.
Someone please get rid of Fen, he is evil and the storyline is not even one bit interesting. It is important but not the way it has been handled.
I don't know about any of you but Chelsea is on my last nerve. Why does she have to be so rude to Adam, the guy is trying. Why is it so bad that he stayed where he knows people and has a vested interest. She is a princess if you ask me. I don't get my way so I will pout and you will give me millions. WOW, not liking her like I used too.
Not liking the cane/chelsea/lily/tyler thing. Not that anyone stays happy in soap land but talk about a quick pairing, it doesn't even make sense the sudden cane/chelsea thing.

Dislike the Winters' family drama. Neil doesn't come across as doing anything at Jabot. He should not be conducairlLs at the oiice with the employees. Lauren and Fenn both freak out under stress. Fenn is only making an issue of Michael arresting to throw the heat off his guilt in bullying Jamie. Jamie was the victim and Fenn the bully along with Summe4r. He is such a manipulator! No Phyllis and Jack pleas3e!

Thanks Candace! I'm so disappointed with how TPTB are handling the bully storline. We have yet to see Fen show any consequences or an ounce of remorse for what he's done to Jamie. It's all about him, I remember how defenders of Fen were saying he cared because he had tears in his eyes for what he's done to Jamie, I never saw them, and if they were there they were probably for himself.

I agree it's good to have Abby back & that Phyliss will go running back to Nick when Avery choses Dylan. Then Jack will have another broken heart. How many times can one suffer an achy breaky heart? I don't really like that Lauren needs conforting by Carmine. Poor Michael to have both her & Fen turn away from him. Fen is headed for big trouble. No kid should hate their father so much.

I thought Phyliss' motherly scenes were touching & glad to see her & Summer connecting again. I'm sure the guy in the Underground is going to figure in Avery's past somehow, no doubt as her ex-husband as someone said. It's almost pre-destined that during a storm in GC that people who shouldn't will be thrown together. Sharon is about to get what she wants, Adam, & now Chels is pregnant which will upset that applecart.

Chelsea is what my mother would call a fertile mertle. I agree with you Candace, Michael was not hard enough on Fen, but Phyllis wasn't hard enough on Summer either, I thought he advice to her was awful. Nick gets Summer a new car for killing Chelsea's baby, I wonder what reward she will get for bullying Jamie.Let Phyllis get with Jack and make them the Tom and Margo of Genoa City LOL! I hope Sharon gets with Dylan...I don't care how steamy she is with Adam...they are toxic together.
