    Reunited. (CBS)
    Restless Rant
    Week of February 4 – 8:

Enjoying "Y&R" more consistently these days - here are some thoughts on this week's events:

    Congressman on the case.
This entanglement with Wheeler, Leslie, Tyler, and Avery’s case is somewhat intriguing. I'm guessing the woman who worked in Wheeler’s campaign office that was killed was Tyler and Leslie’s mother. Obviously there was a cover-up, which is making Wheeler and Leslie/Valerie nervous. Questionable – how did Leslie put a change of identity over on Vance Abrams? As for Leslie and Neil – she seems to be having trouble keeping her resolve not to canoodle in the office - drawn together like magnets!

    I will fight for you.
Cane’s sudden fervor for Chelsea and her designs felt a little out of left field. They have screwed-up mothers in common I suppose, but honestly the whole idea of Chelsea being this incredible designer is a tough sell. As for Neil’s outlook on Chelsea – he’s entitled to his opinion, but it was unprofessional to chew Cane out at the Club. As for Cane’s other half, Lily has seen a new side of Tyler, who was asking questions about her marriage this week. I got a kick out of him saying he’d never hit on a married woman – umm…

    Jack in the Jabot.
Things may be getting too casual at Jabot. On Jack’s first day back he was impressed with Chelsea’s designs when Billy showed them to him, and pretty much said she was in – but didn’t tell Neil. Meanwhile, Neil’s too busy making time with Leslie to do much with regard to the fashion division, other than put Cane on notice for overstepping. At least he was working! It’s also a concern that no one in charge at Jabot knows much about fashion. Billy and Kyle have barely been seen at Jabot, and Phyllis and Jack spent most of her first day back at the Club and arguing over pills. Speaking of which, how did Kieran Donnelly get into the CEO’s office anyway? Seeing Jack paw all over ‘Red’ in his office made me feel embarrassed for him. His continued attempts to turn their relationship romantic are so uncomfortable to watch. Their sparring session with Victor was pretty entertaining though. Read Soaps.com’s interview with Daniel Romer, the actor who plays Kieran Donnelly.

    Money, money.
So glad Adriana’s gone – hope she never returns with that stupid money. We learned Alex is her brother, and now that Noah knows he was played, hopefully he’ll move on from this mess. As for Chloe flirting with Alex – though I didn’t understand what she hoped to achieve, at least there were a few sparks – anything would be preferable to the dead zone she and Kevin inhabit.

    Battling Baldwins.
What a treat this emotional drama has turned out to be – you can sympathize with each character’s feelings. Amazing. I’m leery about the turn it’s taking though – it’s becoming clear that Jamie is lying, so even though his desperation is understandable, he could end up being vilified. Here’s hoping it will play out so that Fen takes responsibility for his role in it and learns something, and Jamie gets help and understanding.

    Up to something. (CBS)
    Coffee and advice.
Why is Kevin threatening to do asinine things like burn down his own business one day, and then doling out wisdom and mature advice to Fenmore the next? Kevin should at least have been exhibiting signs of being a basket of nerves when talking to Fen for continuity’s sake.

    Just as friends?
Speaking of characters acting differently from one day to the next - Sharon dragged Adam to Nick’s nightclub opening and to hang at the GCAC afterward, but when he asked her to go celebrate a deal the next day, she gave him the grand inquisition over whether or not it would be just as friends. Kinda’ strange… In any case, their scene at Adam’s house showed a playful side of Adam – loved Sharon’s grin after he kissed her.

    Is this real?
Yes, Avery, it’s real; there are now two Nicks in Genoa City. Avery appeared to have way more chemistry with Dylan than Nick – though that might have been the passionate emotions of the reunion. It was legit for Dylan to be called out for revealing himself to Avery in such a public way. I thought Avery’s reaction – shock and dazed emotion – was bang on. As it continued to sink in that he was alive, her scattered emotions were apt. I wouldn’t have been opposed to a bit of hysteria, or her blurting the truth to Nick sooner, but overall this storyline did not disappoint. Even better, if Avery and Dylan actually have chemistry, this may be a story to invest in. Who should Avery be with? Let us know by voting in Soaps.com's Y&R Avery’s Choice poll.

    The Underground re-opening.
I wonder if Nick reflected on his big night and realized that the only people he knew who attended the opening were his son, mother, and sister, his ex-wife and his sworn enemy/half-brother, his promoter’s sister and her boyfriend, and his girlfriend’s ex-lover back from the dead. Hehe.

    At the penthouse…
It’s beginning to look like Nikki has something like Parkinson’s Disease... Victor asking Mason to replace Sharon’s pills with placebos was disgusting. Mason not going through with it was unexpected - however he could still change his mind.

    Mrs. C.
Aw, I felt so bad for Katherine this week; struggling and buying memory-enhancing pills! It was strange not to see Jill in scenes with her as per spoilers...

I would love to see Avery with dylan but not at the expense of Nick and Phyllis getting back together. NO WAY!
I thought Avery's acting was amazing, this storyline is so great. I love Dylan!
Neil, back to his old righteous self, uggg, enough already.
Please move on with Fen and Jamie, maybe Fen didn't do it but he helped in a way. Let the Evil spawn pay his price and move it on. Not getting into this one, sorry.

Why is it clear that Jamie is lying? Nothing gives me to think that he is, I really think that Fen did push him. Fen is the new Ricky, he is a sick kid turning into a psychopath. But the thing is, he is not interesting to watch so I wish he does go away.

I could not agree with you more on your comments concerning Victor, his do as I say not as I do behavior is disgusting. Instead of calling him the black knight he should be called the black heart!

Here's how I want the relationship chips to fall
    Avery & Dylan
    Adam & Chelsea
    Nick & Sharon.
Victor grows more vile every day & doesn't deserve to get NE back. Have him & Nikki retire, Nikki deserves to be looked after for once in her life.

Kevin needs to sell his house and business if need be. If Nikki didn't want Victor to know about her illness, why not only give her cell number as a contact? Yes, Cane's interest in Chelsea is contrived and out of character. Sharon seems to be in on all top decision making at NE. Is that in her job description? People with no specific skills seem to set up business of the skilled in GC. Phyllis sure will be collecting a lot of W-2s for her jobs this year. Neil is a jerk. He is not professional at the work place. Neither is Leslie. There are holes in the Leslie/Tyler/Wheeler storyline. Will the writers even bother to address them? Tyler is a piece of work. Can't connect with him. What a waste of air time with the Noah storyline. End the Fennmore saga. It is creepy.

I pretty much agree with your rant Candice.Victor has stooped to a new low. Mason shuffled those pill bottles around so much It was difficult for me to tell what he did, even though I'd DVRed it and paused it. I guess he will only go so far if in fact he did put her pills back in her purse.Neil acted like a jerk the way he treated Cane. Cane has been more than tolerant with Neil & I'm wondering how long he will put up with it, also the pressure from Tyler pursuing his wife. Glad Lily finally realized Tyler's motives.

Phyliss has let Nick know that she is waiting in the wings for her cue. It's an interesting situation. Poor Michael, it seems like he could recuse himself from the case involving his son. It seems like it would be required. I think he wants to stay on it so he can posibly control what happens to Fen. I sympathise with both him & Lauren. Also sympathise with Avery. I'm sure she loves both of them.

Nice blog Candace, thank you. While I do like some of the story lines with the "nuwriters", it seems to remind me of an old boyfriend. All talk and no action. And on what planet would the father of the accused be able to interrogate the victum and have his wife and the accused yell at the victim in the house he was staying at when he was hurt? Just stupid writing. And I still can't get over the fact that Dylan thought it was a good idea to come back from the "dead" at Avery's new boyfriend's club's opening night.

BTW, while I do love Gloria, I see no need for her to be involved in Chloe's and Chelsea' new business and not have Jill on screen when Tucker left and now with Kay's new s/l. Was nice seeing Ester, but for goodness sake get rid of that 50 yr. old uniform. It looks ridiculous!!

You know what else is a tough sell, Candace? It's the fact that Cane is suddenly a fashion expert. Where did that come from??

And the writers' timeline is majorly off. Cane is with Lily one second and in less than a leap and a bound later, he's deep into a conversation with Chelsea somewhere across town.
