    Moving on. (CBS)
    Restless Rant
    Week of January 28 – February 1:

It was a solid week for "Y&R," with some of the storylines starting to really come together and move forward. There was some excellent emotional stuff happening as well. Here are some thoughts on the week:

    I can handle it.
The bit with Sharon trying to push the Chelsea/Adam relationship doesn't work. No matter who raves about how great Adam/Chelsea are together, it won't be convincing. Sharon’s therapist telling her she shouldn’t be with Adam right now is also off – why shouldn’t she be with someone who is supportive and who thinks she’s amazing? It just seems like grasping at straws to throw up roadblocks, and it’s not very believable. It’s exciting that Sharon will fight with Adam against Victor, even though she’ll probably be the first casualty of the war – hope this isn’t the case and Adam gets Mason’s number. Speaking of the Adam/Victor war, how about that scene between them at the penthouse? Gasp! It’s a very difficult relationship/dynamic to get a handle on. Victor despises Adam, yet when he was blinded by Patty, Victor came to his aid from behind-the-scenes, which suggests he cares about him deep down. In the current circumstances, Adam thinks Victor should appreciate him because he’s able to offer him entrance back into Newman, however, I sense that perhaps Victor hates him all the more for being in that very position. Complicated indeed.

At this point it seems fairly obvious that Nikki’s either sick or pregnant, the latter being highly unlikely. It should be an emotional story that will force Victor to re-examine his priorities. Will he still focus on getting the company back when she needs him more than ever? Early in the week, Jack’s visit with Nikki was great – it was nice to see them get back on solid footing.

    Intergalactic fantasizing.
Jack and Jabot are really rocking a feelgood vibe right now – kind of awesome and a nice change, although it bears mentioning that it's bizarre that certain characters are suddenly qualified to work in the new fashion division. Anyway, it’s great that Billy’s back on board – wow, does it ever feel like a better fit for him than co-CEO at Newman! I love that this will bring Billy back into Cane’s orbit, and also hope to see more of Kyle, who has grown on me. Adding Phyllis into the mix will triple the fun! As for Neil and his bunch, I suspect Devon will take Tucker’s offer, and Neil will be drawn into Leslie’s drama from the past – which became much more interesting this week as it came to involve more characters and more was revealed. My guess is that the person Avery’s trying to free has something to do with Leslie and Tyler’s mother dying and their evil father. How Wheeler figures in remains to be seen. Tyler tried to convince Leslie to approach Wheeler about keeping ‘the bastard’ in jail – little do they know he’s already trying to have Avery pulled off the case. Hmm. It was great that we saw a vulnerable side to Tyler – finally – when he was trapped in the elevator. Lily was a great help to him using her mothering skills, which provided little opportunity for sparks to fly, but which bonded them a bit.

    Wants her gone.
I was a bit taken aback over Victoria so vehemently wanting Chelsea gone from town this week, since we saw scenes in which they made their peace a while back. Vikki had already resigned herself to Chelsea staying in town after she married Adam, so why the uproar now?

    Mac attack. (CBS)
    Moving forward.
Thank goodness Gloria’s joining Chelsea and Chloe in their business – comic relief from all the pouting and snarking. Between Chelsea’s personal life and Chloe being sour over the stolen stolen money – ugh. Here’s hoping Chloe working with fashion again will lead to other, ahem, changes in her life. As for Chelsea, Cane is being placed repeatedly in her path as she contemplates the need to move on from Adam. Not sure what the writers were going for, but it was a little weird when Cane talked to her in that low purring voice about making her dreams come true during the business meeting. If there’s chemistry between two characters, you don’t need to try that hard to make the air seem sexually charged. Just sayin'... At any rate, it was different than Chelsea’s flirtation with Alex, who was on my nerves for talking too loud. Anyway, Anita showed up at Restless Style (is this place getting a new name?) and was her usual overbearing self. The look on Chelsea’s face was funny though when Anita was enthusing about the need to get some sex. Good for a laugh. Who should Chelsea have her revenge hook-up with? Vote in’s Y&R Revenge Sex poll.

    No money honey.
Adriana trusts Noah with the stolen stolen money, which confuses him. Aw, so sweet. Not! This story is awful. The only redeeming factor at this point is that Noah is in it…because he’s sexy.

    Baldwin versus Baldwin.
Speaking of sexy, how about Carmine and Lauren? Sparks definitely were flying there, and with Michael on the verge of having to prosecute Fenmore, that might be all that it takes to drive Lauren into Carmine’s big comforting arms. As for what happened to Jamie, I tend to think Fenmore did not push him. However, Jamie sees the bullying as being indirectly responsible for him ending up unconscious on the ground, and wants to see Fen pay. Karma!

    Tucker and Katherine’s goodbye.
I hate that Tucker’s leaving! I cried along with Katherine, even though I wished she’d told him she loved him. It makes no sense for him to go to Hong Kong just when he’s making progress with Katherine and Devon again, so I hope he returns at some point. It was a bit of a slap in the face not to see a goodbye between him and Jill as well – where the heck is Jill?

    Mac attack.
Well, this Dylan-coming-back-from-presumed-death storyline has been pretty good so far. He seems like an awesome guy, so it was kind of sad to see him witness the kiss between Avery and Nick. I can’t help but wish there was a more exciting female character at the center of it all though. Avery has turned out to be wishy-washy and fairly dull – unless you count her cheating on her husband and sleeping with her sister’s man, of course – odd things for someone with her personality to do. Anyway, hopefully it’s emotional seeing Dylan/Mac and Avery come face-to-face for the first time. As for Dylan’s run-in with Sharon – it was too nicey-nice to really tell if there could be chemistry.

What a great week!! I am truly loving that we are back in the business world so much. That is part of what made this show so much better and different than all of the other shows. I am wondering with all of the talk of Ashley if they are not trying to work out ED being on both shows.
As for the therapist telling Sharon to stay away from Adam, that is spot on advice from a therapist. He is supportive, right, but he is also a major cause of her problems. She should not be involved with anyone at this point. I liked the advice of having coffee etc, but no serious relationship.
Keep up the great work writers et al.

I also think Fen didn't push Jamie, but his actions resulted in the fall, so to Jamie, that's the same thing. To be honest, I hope they resolve this storyline soon with Fen taking responsibility for his actions.

It all comes about Fen next week. This sl is out of the park. It is so good. I have some students in my online school who are talking about it after class because they said they can relate to it personally.

Sorry that you all think the new writers are doing right by this show. All I do is talk back to the TV because the dialogue is so bad or flip to other channels because I can't stand the absurd scenes.

I agree with you on all points today Candice. It really rings false to me when Sharon tries to talk Adam & Chels to stay together when she wants him so badly, but then Sharon was always duplicitous. She leads a guy on - then runs away. I'm sorry Noah decided not to give the money back to Alex, because it is only going to keep him involved in the theft.

I'm glad Glo ia going to be more visible. It should be fun to see more of her working with Chels & Chloe, and it looks like Anita will be thrown into the mix. I hope Jack brings all the Abott family back together. I don't believe that Fen deliberatly pushed Jamie off the roof, but that Jamie has had enough bullying and is getting back at him for the things he did. Lauren is a fool if she turns to Carmine for solice.

No disrespect intended but I could not disagree more that it was odd that Sharon's therapist ( does she have a name?) discouraged her from dating Adam. Yes Sharon and Adam have chemistry and yes they do care about each other but I don't see how it can be denied that at the heart of it, their relationship is extremely toxic. Adam has taken Sharon's kid from her until he got caught for doing so, he threw away evidence that would exonerate her,not to mention when Adam and Sharon are together; Sharon's priorities get extremely out of whack.

I do agree about Victoria though. It just seems odd to me that Vicky so easily freaks out about Chelsea, especially since Chelsea has not made one hint about wanting Johnny back since he was born and given to Billy and Victoria like a year ago.

I love your blog Candace and I agree 100 percent, I am tired of the litany of Adam being bad for Sharon when he has been nothing but kind and supportive of her, just sounds like a broken record to me. People forget that Sharon has a wonderful therapist, so wonderful that she provides a therapy-lunch combo (does that include an appetizer too LOL!) and is taking her medication, that this is because Adam got her linked up with the therapist to begin with!

This bullying story is very good and is being played wonderfully by all the actors (the vets and the newbies). The only false note for me is Carmine. I don't find the idea of Lauren turning to some bartender she hardly knows for solace sexy. The drama is with the Baldwins. The family dynamic is what is interesting so why muddy the waters with Carmine? What was sexy about Lauren being depressed because she fought with her husband and Carmine plying her with pilfered expensive alcohol and telling her some lame stories? Maybe he was just doing his job and cheering up a customer but he seems to have an angle with his eavesdropping on the Baldwins and the free drinks on the house for Lauren. I don't want to see Lauren screw up her marriage and some young stud take advantage of a woman who is going through a family crisis.
