^^^If SN's Tucker needs another woman then he needs to find another show because Jill is the longest running character on Y&R and the same age he is. Y&R isn't going to hire a new female for failed newbie character just because he doesn't fit with the age appropriate females on the cast. So if he can't make it sexy with Jill (or Gloria) he doesn't belong on Y&R and obviously the new regime agreed.

If Y&R needs love interests for the females in their 40s they will hire hot sexy males in their 40s and that's exactly what they did. Thank You Y&R, because Tucker-Sharon in bed made many viewers want to VOMIT.

^^^LOLOL... Y&R isn't going to hire some older, overweight, cotton top actor to make Jill look good and give her storylines simply because she is one of the oldest and longest running females on the show. You certainly aren't saying much for the actress if you think she's limited to such strict casting. You may not have liked Tucker & Sharon, but tons of viewers did and many were clamoring for a Tucker and Phyllis pairing as well. Not that any of this matters. With Tucker off canvas, Jill's character will more than likely fade away because she doesn't have any storyline without Tucker. Welcome to the new Y&R and all the newbies that come with it.

Y&R made a HUGE mistake. SN is a fantastic actor and any show is lucky to have him.

@LCCH Tristan Rogers is overweight? I don’t think so. Neither is William Russ, he had a stocky wrestlers build he wasn't fat. None of Jill’s guys were heavy, but most were tall with broad shoulders. I have no problem with men who don’t want to dye their hair like women do, I think that grey/silver hair (“cotton top”) looks good on men.

Jill could have plenty of story, the existence of Tucker makes no difference at all. ZERO! The writers would love to write her into the long story and have stated so. The bigger issue seems to be time/commuting/commitment. There’s no doubt in my mind that JW would have stayed in LA and worked like JC or EB did if it wasn’t for MAB. But now the move has changed things. I’m hoping she will want to spend more time on Y&R and the show will be able to work her in better as time goes by. It’s never going to be like the glory days, but as far as I know she is wanted by JFP and the writers. Sony could be being tight with the $$$ but they are like that with everyone, it doesn't sound like money is the issue.

mollyandwally, I'm not sure where you get your information but Jess Walton has stated, on more than one occasion, that she is happy with the small story arcs and part time work. She lives in Oregon now for crying out loud. As for Tristan can you say you like Tristan Rogers yet say how much you hate all the other so-called "newbies" from other soaps? I liked Tristan too, a lot actually, but he came from GH. How come he is okay for you? Why don't you hate him, too? Also, how can you love this new regime so much which has done nothing but bring no name newbies in so far?? I guarantee you the new regime doesn't like Jess any more than it likes any of the other over-40 actors.

@mollywally - Obviously you have some catching up to do. Tristan Roger is not a cast member of Y&R. He's technically on GH now. We're talking about new hires, not who was once on the show. (It's always a good idea to read the posts you are responding to ;-) The new regimine is not interested in rehashing MAB's failed storylines. They're interested in bringing in new and younger faces and writing new and younger storylines. The new regimine has said a lot of things. If you believe them, good for you, but an actress well above their ideal demographics who happens to be on reoccuring and not contract isn't going to get some major storyline with a new love interest just because you want her to. It's amazing that you think she would just because she's your favorite. Losing Tucker doesn't help Jill at all, so yeah, he makes a very big difference. LOLOL... and the fangirl mindset of "newbies are okay as long as they're hooked up with Jill" simply doesn't wash.

Stephan was fabulous for years on GH. And now on Y & R he is great again. Why does he have to leave? This is bad news

I agree with the others about getting rid of Cane instead of Tucker. Cane used to be so sexy, but now it seems he's lost a lot of his appeal. And lately, his hair looks really goofy.

yrluvr I could agree more. I always felt that WR was wrong for the part of Tucker. He's a wonderful actor but he didn't give Tucker the edginess that was dearly needed and thankfully those that were in charge at the time saw that and rectified the situation. Stephen Nichols definitely gave the character the wonderful edginess that he needed. Y&R has made a dreadful mistake in this situation and they're going to come to regret it.

Thanks PatchsGirl1971! I've never seen WR in any other role and can only vaguely remember him as Tucker. He may well be a good actor, but he left no lasting impression with me. The minute SN took over the role, I was impressed. He breathed life into a character that before, I had found extremely dull and bland. Y&R's loss will be another soap's gain, I'm sure!
