    Restless Rant
    Week of December 31 – January 4:

"Y&R" was solid this week; with Jack’s storyline still the highlight. A few characters are suffering in order to drive plot. Check out some comments on the week's happenings:

    Maybe I’m missing something…
All of the sudden viewers are talking about Cane becoming the jealous type, and a bit of a stiff personality-wise – presumably these developments are meant to make it more palatable for Tyler to come between him and Lily – it all seems a bit too obvious. Adding to the confusion – Cane was very upset that Neil was offered the CEO position instead of him (so much so that he wrote his mother off over it), but now that he’s got the CEO position all he wants to do is to hand it back to Neil? Last week he disagreed with Neil’s decisions and vision for Jabot, and this week he’s telling Neil he’s the person to take Jabot into the future. Huh?

    Bolting before breakfast?
It was funny to see Neil thinking Leslie was going to do an awkward dash out of his apartment after their night of passion. Leslie makes uptight Neil about as sexy as he can be – so far so good!

    Jack attack.
This week kicked off with Adam and Jack going at it in the Abbott living room, and Adam getting his butt canned along with everyone else. Amazing scenes! Later in the week, Jack thought he’d hit bottom when he woke up to find a dead hooker sprawled on the living room floor. He called crafty Adam to bail him out – so delicious – but the best part came when we later learned things were going to get far worse for Ol' Smilin' – the so-called prostitute was actually the daughter of a senator. Worse, Victor’s in the know and is a step ahead. This comes a little soon after Phyllis having a dead person on her living room carpet and Kevin moving the body, but we’ll take it. By the way, I laughed out loud when Phyllis stopped into the Abbott manse and Jack gravely announced he’d hit bottom. She skeptically asked, "Overnight?" So funny.

    Georgia on my mind.
Here’s hoping Daniel returns at some point – he brings a different flavor to the canvas. His parting scenes with Phyllis were awesome.

    Making things better.
As nice as it is to see Tucker making up with Katherine, the scenes with Victor joining them for dinner needed a little more realistic conflict – seemed too pat. Honestly, I’d rather see Katherine, Tucker, and Jill all getting into it at Chancellor or something.

    Egad. (CBS)
    New Year’s fireworks?
Sparks should have been flying between Chelsea and Alex when they shared a drink – it would have given her a viable alternative to Adam – but there wasn’t much of anything. Conflict has done little to up the excitement factor with her and Adam either – even making out in front of a fire they lacked heat. She’s fighting a lost battle anyway – if you have to convince your hubby to move to the other side of the world to keep him from his ex, it’s a very bad sign. Another bad sign - corporate intrigue is more appealing to him. The worst sign – knowing he could be working with Sharon at Newman will almost certainly mean Adam ain't gonna' budge from Genoa City.

    Villy nilly.
The good news is that we actually saw an article of clothing partially come off this time when Billy and Vikki went upstairs to get busy. They are a sexy couple, no question. The bad news is that though it would be an excellent time for Billy to become more empowered while stepping in for Jack at Newman, it looks like he may be headed for another downward slide judging by the blackjack references - so hoping it's not how it appears!

    Chloe’s caper.
Cringe worthy. Chloe was always a fashion-forward, feisty city girl who would never be a frump. She became pretty levelheaded after having Delia, and she’s always been sharp. She wouldn’t have participated in any of this drivel. Nor would she have time for the idea of going into business selling homemade fashions designed by Chelsea, who has zero experience in anything other than conning people. This all seems out-of-character, hastily conceived, plot-driven, and even dopey. It’s past time that Chloe and Kevin go their separate ways and get back to being themselves in realistic storylines. The last time this pair worked together was when Jana was still around and they were best friends – it’s been a long, exhausting time since then.

    They’ve created a Fenster.
Wow. Fen sure upped the ante where his issues are concerned this week. Being so cold to, and about, Jamie, and threatening Summer, seems a step beyond normal teenage angst. I love the intensity Michael brings, and the way they’ve got Paul weighing in. Summer’s understated shock and anxiety really works too. By the way, I think she should move back in with Phyllis – Noah’s not listening to her and Nick’s way too busy getting laid. What do you think of Fen’s behavior? Hey Candace, always great rants you have!
I agree, the Cane thing is off, not believable and I think they are just trying to change direction and hope we are all too stupid to see where it went off the rails.
I am so over Victor and his crap. No one, and I mean no one would ever get away with as much as he has. His arrogance is beyond anything I have ever witnessed. UNBELIEVABLE. What is more unbelieveable is Victoria running back to daddy all the time. YUCK
Jack storyline is weird and you are right that it is too soon since Phyllis's dead body so its all too much to handle. We need new, fresh stuff and some good old characters back that made Y & R what it is. Love new characters and need them but for Jack to be all alone in this, no sister support, sorry doesn't seem right for a central family. I guess maybe that is why Abby is coming back. I sure hope Daniel is gone because he wants to be and not because of the writers. He is the best actor (younger) on there.
So over Kevin and Chloe, have been for a long time and even with the recent sex scene, NOPE not buying it.

Oh one more thing. The Fen thing is too close to the Ricky thing. They better bring that boy back out of the psychopath storyline and just make him seem more like a spoiled teenager. Way too soon and again, BEEN THERE DONE THAT! A spoiled teenager would still feel remorse and he feels nothing.
Not looking forward to that storyline. Summer is growing on me though, at least she has remorse.

Candace you speak the truth regarding Chadam, I am not sure why the writers are still forcing this couple to be together. It is not working, Chelsea needs to get some pride and move on. Get her money and start her life over, its embarrassing to see how she is acting.

Kevin and Chloe need to part ways too, put her back with Billy or even the new cop if he is staying.

Congratulations to Doug Davidson and Christian LeBlanc. They were amazing in Friday show. I loved the scenes with Paul and Fen too.

"Cringe-worthy" is the most perfect way to describe the latest Kevin/Chloe drivel Candace. In fact, that should be their couple name. I was really hoping these new writers would be the ones who saw the light and put the kibosh on this couple but instead they are giving them an even more ridiculous storyline. At this point, I don't even know if the characters are worth saving. Send them on their way to jail or out of town.

Michael Graziadel (Daniel) had a part on Rizzoli & Islea & did a great job. It was a better part for him than he has on Y&R. I think it's time for Chels to give up on Adam, especially if he wants to hire Sharon. If he cares about his marriage he wouldn't do that. Lily looks like she enjoys the attention from Tyler, which seems off to me, she & Cane are too in love for that.

Fens' anger makes him seem like a Loss Cause. He is down right MEAN. So glad that Summer is starting to act like something besides a spoiled rich girl. Good Actress.

Well, Victoria will soon cave in to Victor's guilt trips and manipulations. She is so stupid it's unbelievable. Billy needs to wise up and kick her to the curb. When it comes down to choosing between Victor and Billy, she will choose her sweet little Daddy every time. Some kind of love for your spouse THAT is! Regarding Fen, please read my post in the poll about him.
