    Amazing. (CBS)
    Restless Rant
    Week of December 17 – 21:

This week the show has noticeably tightened up so that there are a few major storylines being featured – a notable improvement. "Y&R" has been offering up solid drama, yet there's not anticipation on a daily basis since the show is still skimping on passion, happy people, and comic relief. Some observations:

    It’s raining men!
Carmine, Detective Alex, Mason, Tyler...Christmas came early! So far, we’ve only seen enough of them to be a tease, but here’s hoping we’ll soon see a whole lot more. We know the basics on Carmine, but he still has some mystery surrounding him, Alex seems pretty slick, Tyler is talented but maybe a bit too cocky, and Mason comes across like a pretty straight arrow. Share your impressions of these characters in the comment section.

The only thing that made sense.
Adam gets major points for being ‘real’ with everybody this week – it’s satisfying to watch. I can respect Chelsea wanting to turn down his offer of a financial settlement, but there’s proud and then there’s stupid. As for Adam and Sharon, despite everything they’re just magnetically drawn toward each other. It’s always intense. It probably won’t go anywhere though since Nick is in the picture doing his anti-Adam routine. On another note, it was interesting to hear that Sharon’s meds are kicking in – I wonder what this will mean for the character.

    Obstructing justice.
Chloe needs to shed the chemistry-free marriage and dowdy housewife vibe – yesterday - and go back to work at Jabot. After that, a hot new love interest – she had chemistry with Carmine, and Abby makes for a feisty rival (hint, hint). Kevin also needs a do-over. Ever since the Angelina debacle, he’s been reduced to a mumbling grump who is just placed in one ridiculous, illegal, or compromising situation after another. If only they could bring the pre-kidnapping/tumor girl version of Jana back for him…

    Can’t just walk away.
The scene where Jack walked into Jabot, heard the jazz music, and looked quizzically all around was funny. The expression on his face said it all! Jack may have come across like an uptight old suit going through withdrawal, ahem, but on the other hand, Neil isn't exactly doing things in his usual and expected way. Let's be honest - if he hadn't been trying to impress Leslie he never would have approved the casual dress code, and a week ago, he probably would have reacted to Tyler and his pitch much like Jack did. I still think Neil should buy his own company, then he would answer only to himself - and Devon and Lily of course. Hehe.

    Whoa! (CBS)
    Happy Anniversary.
It was amazing to see Michael and Lauren back to indulging in some romance this week. Loved it! Of course sad sack Fen is going to put an end to all the fun with his throwaway phone and his renewed jealousy over Jamie now that he knows he kissed Summer. Team Jamie.

    Happy Birthday.
Seriously? Nick and Phyllis gifted Summer with a brand new car after she just ran someone off the road while having a teenage meltdown? No words.

    300 years old.
I just love the scenes between Katherine and Jill. The true-to-life emotion and fabulously snarky one-liners keep me riveted. It wouldn’t matter if they were bickering about Tucker or Tupperware – just perfection.

    Pill-poppin’ daddy.
Jack’s grimacing and pill gobbling have led to some pretty intense dramatic scenes as person after person confronted him about the addiction issue. Everyone’s frustration level with Jack had gone sky high, but Jack thought he was ‘handling’ it – until Kyle. What a twist that was! Kyle fed the reporter the story about Jack being addicted as a last ditch effort to stop the train wreck – love it. While it seemed we got to this point in Jack's addiction rather quickly, it's all good to keep things moving along. Besides, this development made Kyle instantly more interesting as a character. Anyway, after that bomb dropped, Phyllis showed up and screamed that she will no longer be covering for Jack. Yike! Also worth mentioning - in an earlier twist, Adam ended up with control of Jack’s meds. Just call him Dr. Feelgood! What did you think of Kyle’s actions? Boring, boring, and more boring. I'm not interested in a single s/l at the moment.

Hate to see Tucker go back to Days before making up with Mom. But he actually belongs on Days thats his true home but not as good as ig they brought him and Peter Reckell and the entire old gang back with the original Roman Brady etc. Along with Hope shawn Douglas and Bell and Phillip now that would bring that soap back to life. On Y& R i would love to see brock and bring back Jills brother Snapper and we all know who played him. Along with Casey nikkies sister . Just a thought. Merry Christmas all

@sharwid It looks like Tuckers headed to make up with his Mom. I don't care how he leaves just so he does and Kay and Jill can get back to being Chancellors.

The last 3 years of Tucker has been the most BORING chapter the Chancellors/KAY & JILL have ever had. I'd love to see Brock and/or someone from Kay or Jill's past return just to remind us how good the Chancellors used to be and that they do have a large extended family. Casting Phillip Chancellor the IV would be interesting. Kay and Jill need some younger family around like the Abbotts and Newmans.

"It's Raining Men" I truly hope it is, raining men. We could use some real men on this show. So far the men on the show are "dubs" Adams has turned into a sneaky snake (again) Nick is a sex mania, Victor is a fool, Jack is power hungry, yep, we need MEN. I won't comment on the women, OMG. The only one on the show who interests me is Chelsea.

"There's proud & there's stupid, good observation Candice & that expresses my thoughts exactly. Maybe Chloe will change Chels mind. I hope to see moreof the old Chloe back when/if they get into the fashion world.Nice to see some new men in GC so the girls don't have to keep bouncing back to their old exes.I'm happy that Phyliss isn't moaning over Nick, but I think he's going to treat Avery the same as he did Phyl & keep trying to save Sharon. She might not feel the same about Adam when she's on her meds, but I'll bet we have some interesting episodes when she goes off the.

We're kept guessing about whether Adam is going to sabatoge Jack. Maybe Kyle & Phyliss' confrontation with Jack might just turn him around. Good idea: why doesn't Neil start his own company then it could be a family company like Jabot was for the Abbots. A CAR for Summer! What parent in their right mind would do such a thing? I'm sure their will be some interesting developments with that. Michael & Loren, so refreshing.

A car for Summer? I smell trouble with this spoiled brat again... Adam and Sharon, please gag me with a spoon! I'm so sick of "helpless" Sharon again... I loved Adam and Chelsea but once again the writers have ruined it along with Billy and Victoria... How does Victor get away with all his crap against Billy then Billy gets thrown under the bus over Victor? Stupid...

Right on with your comments Candice....I would like to see more action...MOVE the story along at a good pace. Not liking the addition of so many youngsters (teens)...obvious ploy to gain young viewers?? I seriously doubt ANYTHING could draw the under 30 crowd to Y&R. Better to hold the audience they have & gradually appeal to younger viewers. I watch everyday with my wife, & I actually enjoy it most of the time. She started watching in 1977.
