    Epic argument! (CBS)
    Restless Rant
    Week of October 29 – November 1:

The new storyline directions and vibe of the show continue to be amazing, even though a few niggling items have cropped up to rant about. Here we go:

    Cottage craziness.
Jeeze, you’d think Adam could have sprung for a TV set or a radio – no wonder Sharon’s climbing the walls! Seriously though, I love this bit with Sharon moving the furniture around and Adam riding to the rescue as they both wrestle with their current demons. It's also been interesting watching Chelsea struggle to remain relevant in his life now that he’s been drawn back into Sharon’s orbit – and the lure of Newman. It's probably a good thing Chloe’s helping Chelsea start her own business – she may need something to keep her busy. That said, Chelsea likely won’t take Adam’s deception lying down – I’d say Adam and Chelsea’s saccharine sweet days are safely behind them now that she’s discovered Sharon camped out on their property! As for the Chloe/Chelsea friendship, it was somewhat unexpected, but since it pulls Chloe out of the mire of her mismatch of a marriage, it’s all good. What should Chelsea do about Adam and Sharon? Let us know what you think by voting in's Y&R Chelsea’s Choice poll.

    Abbott Enterprises.
The possibilities for entertaining scenes with Adam, Jack, and Phyllis working together are unlimited - love it. However, one thing I did not enjoy/understand this week was Phyllis’ out-of-the-blue whining about having to work with Adam. She’s already been working for Tag ‘n’ Grab, but more importantly, her attitude toward Adam has always been one of amused curiosity – they circle each other with ‘takes one to know one’ wariness, and an air of excitement and a certain chemistry surrounds their battle of wits and one-upmanship – Phyllis has always been up for it. Not only that, but the recent accident caused by Summer should have figured into their dynamic and it hasn’t. Strange. Speaking of which, how is it that Victor didn’t know about the car crash or miscarriage? His family members report everything to him, plus there’s the news, and his ‘people’ – this made about as much sense as Avery, Newman Enterprises’ attorney, learning about the company takeover through a chance run-in with Nick, or Abby and her shares disappearing into thin air. Details matter!

    Miami vice.
It may be the smartest thing Nick’s ever done, deciding to remove himself from his family’s business-related drama. Victoria’s sudden inexplicable yen to make her father and Newman Enterprises a priority over Johnny and Billy led to trouble this week. Billy and Jack had an epic argument from which they both emerged miserable, and she now appears to be in danger herself. Billy and Jack’s fight was compelling, in that you could understand each of them being pissed. As for Victoria, I’ve no idea who would want to kidnap her spoiled behind, but I’ve got a sinking feeling the drama will end with Billy bowing, scraping, and apologizing. Ugh. As for Jack, his power-hungry greed has led to him facing surgery without family by his side – probably something for him to ponder while he’s got the time.

    Welcome back! (CBS)
    Jabot jollies.
Neil was handing out jobs to immediate family members like gifts at Christmas! Hiring Cane was understandable, and it's great that Lily gets to go back to work, but what could she possibly know about running a guerilla marketing team? What is a guerilla marketing team? Anyway, it might have made more sense to have her model again, or work with the models, but no big deal. As for Lily's concerns about working with Cane – I’d have thought she’d be more worried about being under her over-protective father's thumb. Cane, meanwhile, washed his hands of parental concerns. Despite the gazillion ‘second chances’ he’s been given, he wasn't up for giving Genevieve anymore. It made him seem a little hard, but all in the name of Gen’s exit...

    Crimson Lights crew.
Kevin’s self-deprecating moaning and groaning was on my last nerve. He has legit reasons to be concerned, but he also seems to have brought it on himself by being so hard to get along with in business. In other coffee house happenings, Summer seemed to be cooking up a plan to get back at Ronan through his little mentoring buddy and dragged Fen into it. Can you say, "Fast-forward?" As for Ronan - nipping at Phyllis’ heels in hopes of getting a crumb of attention doesn't really fit his personality. Also occurring this week on the patio, Heather’s weird exit with Christine. Why no scenes with Daniel? Frankly, I'm fearful of Heather and/or Abby returning to Genoa City as recasts. Both of these characters, and the actresses playing them, were popular with a majority of viewers and it would be a slap in the face to replace them.

    Meanwhile at the Club…
Paul admits he’s falling for Christine again. Yak. Genevieve splits out of town on Tucker’s dime – probably the least offensive exit the new writing regime has engineered thus far. No one cares about the mystery woman or the endless Aussie intrigue anyway. Harmony’s departure, however, was shameful. Regardless of how long the character had been on, or how popular she was, it was terrible not to honor the connections she had made in Genoa City. No goodbye scenes with Devon or Katherine? Fail.

    Best of the week.
    Jill's back!

It does seem to be moving faster and the storylines seem better but its tough to see some of the good have to go wayside to get things back into sync.
Victoria being a princess and spoiled brat is beyond even being able to watch anymore after everything Victor has done to her. Has Victor cooked this one up to screw Billy behind the scenes instead of in Vic's face. My guess is yes.
As much as I didn't like the "too sweet" Chelsea and Adam I do love them together, I would really push for a stay on that one and hope they both get their edge back but together.
I would hate to see an Abby and Heather re-cast, I actually love both of them. Why are we doing this?
I agree about Harmony, pretty sad for both the character and the actress, they both deserve more respect than that.
    Jack, on my last nerves!
Yikes, can we please have enough of Phyllis already, why is she in the middle of every freakin storyline. give us a break for a bit, send her to California!
Yes, Jill is back and can't wait to see what comes of that!

One more thing, why would tag and grabs start up be $15 Million? Please, not so believable.
go Chelsea and Chloe, I would love to see them work together.
Now, can the new writers do something about Kevin and Chloe, please.

    Another great weekly recap, Candy.
I especially agree about the exits of the fired cast members - Abby didn't even get one, Harmony's with Neil but not with Devon or Katherine was just weird, Genevieve's at least made sense mired in the stupid missing person that no one cares about, but to have Heather not even say good-bye to Daniel? Fail indeed.
As for Jill's return, why would the first place she shows up be at The Club, rather than at the Chancellor mansion, or even at Billy and Victoria's, to see her grandson?
And you have a GREAT point about Adam not mentioning Summer to Phyllis. She's the one being antagonistic to him, not the other way around, which would have made more sense. Adam was quick to attack Nick about Summer's involvement in Riley's death, but not Phyllis?
Overall, I thought it was a weak week, held up only by a more emotional Friday, that at least this week ended in a couple of decent cliffhangers.

Without fail yet again Candy you forget all the things Billy has done wrong and place everything on Victoria.

I'm a huge fan of both Victoria and Billy. That said I haven't forgotten all Victoria has forgiven Billy for. Billy bought a baby (without tell Vicky), left the country when the going got rough (without telling Vicky), & had a con-artist show up pregnant with his child. Victoria forgave Billy for everything.

I don't agree with her wanting to help Victor get the company back nor do I think she should have asked Billy to spy.

Billy is the one who said he would do it & had to follow through. Why? Because Billy kept Victor being in LA a secret. A secret even though Victor needed his family.

So spoiled brat Victoria? Not anymore than screw up time & time again Billy.

Seems like everything is always and only Victoria's fault even when it isn't.

Neil said "Cane would do ANYTHING to protect his family". Hmmm. Does that include framing his mother for murder? I still think he's a bad guy after all this time.

Great rant Candace. Sad to see so many characters leaving the show. I'm not sure how Abby's disappearance will be explained but I don't agree with getting rid of this core character.

What is going on with Paul falling for Christine again? I hope they're not thinking of having the two of them ride off into the sunset together. Christine - yes - but not Paul.

Speaking of details - where is Daisy? Hopefully we'll get some closure on that storyline soon. It's also way past time for closure on Paul's case.

I agree that Phyllis ends up in everyone's business and storylines. Seeing a phyllis/Jack reunion coming. Summer is a chip off the Plock, so much like her mother. If they are running a bullying storyline, why do the highlight the adult bully, phyllis, all the time. Bullying is not acceptable in our youth or adults! Jack just repeats his bad behavior over and over. Billy should have come clean with Victoria.

    Thanks for the comments!

To address the Billy/Victoria thing - My points were only on the current storyline - not keeping score on what they've done to each other historically. I can't understand Vikki putting Victor or his company ahead of her own family, or asking Billy to do anything on Victor's behalf, after all the extreme things he's done to try and tear them apart. Heck, I can't understand her wanting to help Victor. My issue is with her asking Billy to do this at all. As for the L.A. stuff, Billy should have told Victoria he'd found her father and I commented at the time that it would come back to bite him.
