    Stuck. (CBS)
    Restless Rant
    Week of September 24 – 28:

This week, the events in Genoa City swung between absurd and entertaining. The knowledge that the new regime’s material is coming up soon (October 12) is never far from viewers' minds, along with the question of how they will change things. On we go:

    Out of the blue.
On Monday’s episode, Sharon, while talking with Tucker, randomly brought up her old pal, Drucilla. Why now? Did anyone else wonder if this was foreshadowing? Would you like to see Drucilla return? Vote in Soaps.com’s Y&R Drucilla poll.

    Victor Newman is dead.
As the press conference got underway, some of the Newmans were there to publicly support Sharon. Everyone tuned in (Jack told Cane that Nikki’s head looked like it was going to explode - hilarious), only to have the surprise be on Sharon when Billy blurted out the news that the The Great Victor Newman was dead. Again. Even Vic’s family members had a hard time mustering up genuine shock and sadness at the news – how many times has he died after all? In any case, Sharon rose to the occasion when Tucker, his mind going a million miles an hour, hissed at her to stake her claim, now. Nikki looked like she was going to claw Sharon’s eyes out when she heard she would be the one to ID the body. Meeeoww! Meanwhile, in L.A., Victor remembered his true identity right on cue.

    Margin call.
Jack hardly had time to down a scotch after learning The Mustache had expired before he realized the ramifications. As he had been warned by his financial adviser, aka Cane, he had over-extended himself and the only way out was to sell Beauty of Nature back to Tucker. Just like that, Jack’s greed spanked him again.

    Stuck.
While all of this drama surrounding the press conference, Newman Enterprises, and Victor’s untimely demise was going on, Adam’s ass remained glued to his sofa at home where he spouted drivel to Chelsea such as how he and Victor had both been ‘saved by the love of a good woman’. This whole storyline with Sharon, Tucker, and the company could have been far more compelling if Adam had been involved, flirting with Sharon, and up to his usual tricks. Opportunity missed.

    Back from the dead. (CBS)
    Time to ID the body.
In what universe would the Sharon we know callously order some stranger’s body to be cremated knowing it was someone’s loved one? Her antics at the funeral – though funny and entertaining on a certain level – also illustrated how unlike her true self she has become. She didn’t even wait for Noah, who believed his grandfather had died, to get to the service. She was going to marry Tucker, and has now threatened a public battle with Victor without any thought to her kids. Huh? Her super catty scenes with Doris didn’t ring true either. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always loved to catch glimpses of Sharon’s dysfunctional or bitchy side; it made her more interesting, but one could argue that the fundamentals of the character are being lost at this point. Not okay.

    Chill Billy.
Billy’s got reason to worry what with Victor holding something over his head – even if he’s making nice and swears he won’t tell Victoria. Billy’s better to blurt the truth than to live like that, besides, Kevin thinks he should tell his wife everything. It’s quite a kick that Kevin is like Billy’s conscience.

    Sandbagged.
Victor’s timely arrival at Sharon and Tucker’s wedding, and all that followed, was very predictable, but in a good way. We love to hate Victor sometimes, but there are always those moments on "Y&R" when nothing else will do but for Victor Newman to take control and put someone in their place. He does it like no one else can.

    Crazy as a daisy?
The idea that Sheila may have returned for the umpteenth time to spirit Daisy out of Fairview isn’t very appealing. Been there, done that. Could it have been Phyllis, who Sheila looked like, and who is Daisy’s mother-in-law, that has stashed her someplace? The Fairview staff member 'wasn't sure' when shown the photo. Of course, it could be Sheila, and Patty may know more than she’s saying. Love Patty.

    Disgusted Danny.
Danny’s come back to Genoa City to take Phyllis to task for trying to run over Christine and Paul…oh, and to apologize to Paul for kissing Christine all those years ago. This all could be quite interesting if it didn’t hinge on Christine, one of the most annoying characters in soap history, being the romantic heroine.

Good rant and I do agree completely about Adam. He has become a boring character and I hope the new people at the helm take better advantage of his character.
I hope Sharon finally gets her's. When other characters are being let go, I sometimes wonder why she isn't. Ashley for example. Sharon has turned into a what? Not even exciting. Time for her to leave town like Ashley.

Sharon's recent actions just illustrate how "off the deep end" she has become. She didn't even flinch when Victor showed up at her wedding to Tucker, she just sort of smirked and whined about the woman in the picture with Victor. I hope she and Tucker both get what they deserve. The Sharon of 2012 is about as different from the Sharon of the late 1980s as you can get. Complete lack of self-awareness or conscience. When Adam starts looking sympathetic and Sharon is the evil one, you know the show is way off course.

I was actually disappointed by Victor's return. I thought it would be a lot more ferocious.

And I am not the least bit interested in Sheila returning, whoever she looks like now. So ridiculous and done to death. Put a fork in it, writers. I would, however, welcome a return by Dru. Maybe she could set Sharon straight.

I think it's time for Danny to go. He came back to GC just to apologize to Paul for kissing Christine? & to stick it to Phyllis? Really? Couldn't he have called instead? Anyways I hope he lives early & takes Christine with him when he does. They don't make sense to me at all.

I found the Victor storyline very rushed. One second he was dead, a minute later he was alive and hidden away and two minutes later he was back in Genoa City. Usually these stories take 4ever to come to an end but this one was done in record time.
Love Patty and I hope she does know more about Daisy.
Never liked Christine much either but Phyllis's attitude makes me want to scratch her eyes out so I have to side with Christine on this one.

Glad Victor is back to control things again. Wonder will he do simething about the isssues in LA concerning the dock workers? No Patty is not crazy but what's her angle this time? Lauren needs to put her demons aside and be a friend to Paul. Get over it! Wow that Sharon! Poor Adam! I would love to see him get accepted by the family. Kevin is all over the place. And Christine needs to get a life.

Love, love, love Patty. Everyone's on his best game (writers, actors) when this loose cannon (and the incomparable Stacy Haiduk) is around. Wasn't that Patty in the surveillance tape springing Daisy? Where did she put her? That stuffed tabby looks an awful lot like Daisy's wig.

    More Patty-cakes, please.....

Good rant Candice. It was a little anti-climatic for me when Victor walked in on Sharon's wedding because it's just what was expected. She has to be out of her mind to declare the body as Victor's & marry again knowing he might still be alive. It would make her a bigamist.I'm glad there is more yet to come as she sues him & he retaliates. I wonder how long Niki will be all starry eyed before another breakup happens.

Why is Adam so gloomy? He has big house, a wife he loves & a baby on the way. He should be used to being on the outside of the Newman family. Billy is going to have not revealing that he knew where Victor was hanging over his head like a big stone until he confesses. Gen is always looking for an angle & an easy way to make a buck, now wants to team up with Jack. Maybe there's still hope for Jack & BON. I wish Sheila & her family would stay dead. So fed up with them. Lauren needs a new story.

Christine & Danny act like they have had no life between the accident and now. The vengence should have faded away. I like Phyliss with the darker hair, I think it looks good.

Candace, as usual, great rant. Haven't been watching the show much the past several weeks, but did watch Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I'm so disgusted with this show, that I just had to stop watching for awhile. I've watched Y&R since the first episode and never thought I'd feel this way, but hate the direction of the entire show. Maybe the new regime will make the characters more recognizable and the storylines not so outrageous and ridiculous. So glad they let go of most of the new actors. The cast was so big that I'd forget what actor was in what storyline. By the way, whatever happened to Hunter. She showed up in GC with Noah and just disappeared. When are Danny and Christine leaving ... not soon enough for me.
