Outta here! (Soaps.com)
Restless Rant
Week of August 27 – 31:

The outlandish stories continued for both Phyllis and Sharon this week. As far as romance goes, we’ve been living in the land of lukewarm pairings such as Harmony/Neil, Heather/Daniel, and Eden/Kyle.

Put it on ice.
The Harmony and Neil scenes on the basketball court should have been hot, but the bit with Neil giving Harmony ‘pointers’ felt unoriginal, and they’re missing that element that makes a couple smoking hot, so the whole thing felt a little forced. Later, at Gloworm, it appeared that Tucker offered Harmony a big bucks position in his company because he’s jealous of her and Neil. I don’t understand why they’re not capitalizing on the Harmony/Sarge chemistry – perhaps trying to be unpredictable – but a Neil/Harmony/Tucker triangle probably isn’t the way to go. Just not feeling it.

Stand up guy.
Jack’s wheelchair saga played out fairly predictably; right after being told he may not progress any more, he gets so fired up over Nikki’s betrayal that he launches himself to his feet and literally walks out on her. It did provide a ‘moment’, and he had every right to be angry and disappointed with Nikki, but realistically, she did spend most of their engagement obsessing over Victor. Jack was so focused on getting her to the altar and winning the prize that he let it go, which came back to bite him.

Baby Newman.
Adam tagging items as ‘Baby N’ was cute, but I didn’t understand Chelsea being so worried about Chloe finding out she was preggers. Sharon knows, so it’s not exactly their secret. Maybe I missed something? Anita and Jeffrey were nowhere to be seen again this week – their kissing-up routine at least provides a wrinkle in the Chelsea/Adam world. Oh well.

Encyclopedia salesman.
I laughed out loud at Michael’s expression when Beth identified Kevin as the encyclopedia salesman when he popped up on Michael’s phone. Too good!

Claude Shirl.
This storyline just seems to get dumber, and it was dead boring watching Cane and Genevieve argue for the umpteenth time. That said, it was good to see Cane thank Lily for having the sense to call Ronan, and it’s been a step in the right direction to have Cane getting involved in business with Jack – much preferable to his Aussie family bunk.

Who am I? (Soaps.com)
Glue factory.
Abby’s got amazing chemistry with Carmine, but that relationship is taking a backseat to her conflicts with Chloe and Sharon. Loved the scenes with Abby going ballistic over her horses and Sharon pulling up in the car with that self-satisfied grin – anticipating the fallout…

Pub Paul.
It was a pretty shocking scene with Paul threatening that punk friend of Ricky’s in the bar, and the end result was good – new information to help in the case. Now, if they could only find the murder video... Conveniently, Ricky may have made a copy other than the one he deleted from his laptop, and it’s likely stashed in that Niagara Falls snow globe Heather was fondling in her sudden burst of feeling for her late brother. Heather and Daniel didn’t heat up as a couple this week – we should be dying for them to run into each other and get it on, but it’s just ‘meh’.

Not going anywhere.
Sharon had another week full of run-ins – she butted heads with Katherine Chancellor, the Newman Board, Abby, and even Summer, whom she stole from to add to her little collection, which also includes Kyle’s drivers license! Piss off Sharon and she’ll take a souvenir from your sorry behind! Anyway, it appears Sharon even believes she’s manipulating Tucker at this point. This has been a surreal storyline, but quite entertaining, and the good news is that we’re still anticipating what will happen next.

Dive bar doings.
Genevieve made her return trip to L.A., found Victor/Christian, and eventually realized he has amnesia. I’ve no idea why Billy decided to follow her, but he did, and that will be a welcome shake-up in this storyline for next week.

The cover up.
There are a variety of opinions out there on Ronan electing to help Phyllis cover up her role in Tim’s death. He’s had an attachment to her since they spent time together and he opened up to her, and they have great chemistry, so that’s fine. Career-wise it doesn’t seem like his best move, but he’s been roguish in the past. Either way, it’s sure made things more interesting and twisted. The lies will lead to more drama, so that’s a bonus, and if we’re really lucky, Kevin’s lie to Chloe will be exposed and they’ll split up. Fingers crossed. "Y&R" is pre-empted next week on Monday and Friday – just a heads up!
