    Outta here! (Soaps.com)
    Restless Rant
    Week of August 27 – 31:

The outlandish stories continued for both Phyllis and Sharon this week. As far as romance goes, we’ve been living in the land of lukewarm pairings such as Harmony/Neil, Heather/Daniel, and Eden/Kyle.

    Put it on ice.
The Harmony and Neil scenes on the basketball court should have been hot, but the bit with Neil giving Harmony ‘pointers’ felt unoriginal, and they’re missing that element that makes a couple smoking hot, so the whole thing felt a little forced. Later, at Gloworm, it appeared that Tucker offered Harmony a big bucks position in his company because he’s jealous of her and Neil. I don’t understand why they’re not capitalizing on the Harmony/Sarge chemistry – perhaps trying to be unpredictable – but a Neil/Harmony/Tucker triangle probably isn’t the way to go. Just not feeling it.

    Stand up guy.
Jack’s wheelchair saga played out fairly predictably; right after being told he may not progress any more, he gets so fired up over Nikki’s betrayal that he launches himself to his feet and literally walks out on her. It did provide a ‘moment’, and he had every right to be angry and disappointed with Nikki, but realistically, she did spend most of their engagement obsessing over Victor. Jack was so focused on getting her to the altar and winning the prize that he let it go, which came back to bite him.

    Baby Newman.
Adam tagging items as ‘Baby N’ was cute, but I didn’t understand Chelsea being so worried about Chloe finding out she was preggers. Sharon knows, so it’s not exactly their secret. Maybe I missed something? Anita and Jeffrey were nowhere to be seen again this week – their kissing-up routine at least provides a wrinkle in the Chelsea/Adam world. Oh well.

    Encyclopedia salesman.
I laughed out loud at Michael’s expression when Beth identified Kevin as the encyclopedia salesman when he popped up on Michael’s phone. Too good!

    Claude Shirl.
This storyline just seems to get dumber, and it was dead boring watching Cane and Genevieve argue for the umpteenth time. That said, it was good to see Cane thank Lily for having the sense to call Ronan, and it’s been a step in the right direction to have Cane getting involved in business with Jack – much preferable to his Aussie family bunk.

    Who am I? (Soaps.com)
    Glue factory.
Abby’s got amazing chemistry with Carmine, but that relationship is taking a backseat to her conflicts with Chloe and Sharon. Loved the scenes with Abby going ballistic over her horses and Sharon pulling up in the car with that self-satisfied grin – anticipating the fallout…

    Pub Paul.
It was a pretty shocking scene with Paul threatening that punk friend of Ricky’s in the bar, and the end result was good – new information to help in the case. Now, if they could only find the murder video... Conveniently, Ricky may have made a copy other than the one he deleted from his laptop, and it’s likely stashed in that Niagara Falls snow globe Heather was fondling in her sudden burst of feeling for her late brother. Heather and Daniel didn’t heat up as a couple this week – we should be dying for them to run into each other and get it on, but it’s just ‘meh’.

    Not going anywhere.
Sharon had another week full of run-ins – she butted heads with Katherine Chancellor, the Newman Board, Abby, and even Summer, whom she stole from to add to her little collection, which also includes Kyle’s drivers license! Piss off Sharon and she’ll take a souvenir from your sorry behind! Anyway, it appears Sharon even believes she’s manipulating Tucker at this point. This has been a surreal storyline, but quite entertaining, and the good news is that we’re still anticipating what will happen next.

    Dive bar doings.
Genevieve made her return trip to L.A., found Victor/Christian, and eventually realized he has amnesia. I’ve no idea why Billy decided to follow her, but he did, and that will be a welcome shake-up in this storyline for next week.

    The cover up.
There are a variety of opinions out there on Ronan electing to help Phyllis cover up her role in Tim’s death. He’s had an attachment to her since they spent time together and he opened up to her, and they have great chemistry, so that’s fine. Career-wise it doesn’t seem like his best move, but he’s been roguish in the past. Either way, it’s sure made things more interesting and twisted. The lies will lead to more drama, so that’s a bonus, and if we’re really lucky, Kevin’s lie to Chloe will be exposed and they’ll split up. Fingers crossed. What do you think of Ronan going so far to protect Phyllis? Vote in Soaps.com’s Y&R Cover Up poll.

"Y&R" is pre-empted next week on Monday and Friday – just a heads up!

Sure is lacking something. Perhaps some of the posters should start a soap.
Predictable and far fetched it is.

Agree 1000% about no Neil/Harmony/Tucker triangle. MAB has emasculated Neil enough. First they had Ashley leave Neil for Tucker not to long after a steamy Ashley/Neil sex scene. Then they take his son from him so he has to play 2nd fiddle to Tucker with Devon. How insulting! You know darn well that Tucker, is supposed to be this irresistible playboy (LMAO), so of course Harmony won't be able to resist him & Neil would be the loser AGAIN- which is ridiculous and insulting! Put Tucker Vs Neil shirtless on a basketball court- I don't think too many woman are going to be leaving Neil in the dust.

I hope the new writers get rid of Tucker. He in the way of Jill & Katherine, takes over Jill's place in the GC business world, and has to be superior to Neil with his own kid and the women. We don't need a new character to overshadow and back-burner our long-time Y&R vets and treasured Y&R characters Jill & Neil.

My list of scenes that I have to fast-forward through is definitely growing including Victor with this nun, Cane yelling at his mother, Ronan and Phyllis (which is the absolute worst) and Jack ranting with Sarge. I'm enjoying Genevieve bantering with Tucker though.

I'm not feeling any Tucker/Harmony pairing at all.I don't think he's jealous either,he's got something up his sleeve, maybe he wants to take whatever company Neil runs away from him. Tucker is on a money/power hunger role and possibly he's planning his next take over after attaining NE and somehow he'll use Harmony to help him attain it. He's never once said he's in love or loves Harmony. He's been holding feelings for GenV for over 30 years and even told his mother and Gen this. He wants Harmony to be happy and has told her this and even tried to get back with Ashley. Now were supposed to believe he's jealous of Harmony/Neil,I don't see it nor feel it. Tucker is a business man who has a love for money/power and the games you have to play to obtain them,GenV knows him well because they're both cut from the same cloth and fit together. Their from the same world,Tucker didn't even know who Harmony was when she came to town and Devon is a product of a one night stand. She should be with Sarge as they have wonderful chemistry and their backgrounds go good together. She doesn't exsist in the same planet that Tucker inhabits. Not buying anymore then friendship or a role in the hay for these two. Would love to see Tucker/GenV get together as they would make a great powerteam to contend with. Tucker needs a woman just like himself who'll appreciate his ambition and is just as strong as he is and will keep him in check and that is GenV!

    You call this drama?!? SMH.......SMH.

Yahooooooo! Friday was the best episode!

The Newman Board trying to overthrow Sharon (I wish they had succeeded). This I wish they would take her away in a straight jacket. She is pathetic.

Genevive and Billy both finding Victor?!! What?! Didn't see that coming. This is sooooo good and unusual given the fact that Victor can't stand Billy and has done everything to destroy his marriage to Victoria. They must have a new Head Writer that appreciates not leaving an audience hanging for months.

What about Jack holding onto his guns and kicking Nikki out of the house! Yes!!!! She and Sharon and two peas in a pod and she wants her cake and eat it too. The best part was when Jack STOOD and walked away. Especially after the scene when he said he had a meeting with his therapist and spoke with Sarge....What! That was a nice surprise.

It just hurts that I have to wait until Tuesday to be satisfied on the fall out. LOL

I think Victor is faking his so call amnesia...

Wow! I have never seen Sharon mad!

    Have a great long weekend!

I'm hoping Victor doesn't come home anytime soon, because it's just too much fun watching Sharon thinking she's going to run Newman, and all the time Tucker is using her. Gen will try to keep Victor away from GC, but now Billy thinks there is something going on between him & Gen.

Posted by Insomniac at Friday, August 31 2012 09:53 PM

Why did Niki think Jack would be OK with her running off after Victor? Poor Jack! At least it gave him the strength to walk out on her, literally. Phyliss is really going to be in trouble with Nick now that Ronan said they were having an affair. The rest of the week was just so so.
