    Admission (
    Restless Rant
    Week of May 28 – June 1:

Well, the Memorial Day holiday made it a short week for "Y&R," so the Rant begins on Tuesday with Jack’s pool party...

    Tuesday - A Good Man.
Jack decided to throw an impromptu pool party with Abby acting as co-hostess. I’m missing Abby having her own stuff going on – since when has she been into familial hand-holding? Anyway, Nikki soon got in on the action, and the rest of the invitees made for a rather motley crew as Daisy managed to tag along, and Eden showed up with Kyle, only to end up asking her ex, Noah, to move in with her! We really could use some clarification on what happened between these two in Paris – even if one of them had a flashback it would make viewers feel included in what they’re feeling/not feeling. Harmony had a frustrating day, first stumbling into Crimson Lights when Ashley was there (awkward!) and getting her hand-slapped by Devon, and later accepting Sarge’s invitation to a pool party, only to wind up with egg on her face when she had to confess why she wouldn’t exactly be welcome at the Abbott pad. I couldn’t help wondering why she doesn’t just leave town, but then remembered that she’s back living at the swanky Chancellor estate – guess there are worse places to stick it out. In other news, Ricky, fresh from creeping his own father out by showing up at Jimmy’s in place of Craig the informant, blackmailed Daisy into getting him access to Phyllis’ penthouse. Across town at the Club, Danny and Christine shed their goody-two-shoes reputations and indulged in some hot sex in the afternoon! How great was it when they came downstairs all rumpled and flushed afterward, only to find Phyllis and Paul, of all people, gawking at them! Perfection.

Wednesday - No Way In Hell.
As the Abbott pool party continued, Nikki informed Jack that since Victor, aka, the King of the World, was aware of their engagement, they could now proceed. Jack may think paralysis is his only problem, but he’s also as blind as Adam in the garden shed if he can’t see that Nikki is obsessed with Victor! The best point of the day was made by Kyle, who asked Jack, "What’s the rush?" Meanwhile, Eden convinced Noah to move in and they went to the apartment where they had a run-in with Ricky and Noah flexed a little, ahem, muscle. Ricky didn’t exactly seem to be shaking in his boots. Earlier, Ricky found Dr. Tim Reid’s card at Phyllis’s apartment and was eager to look him up. Who else would expect to get confidential information from a psychiatrist but Ricky? The flaw in this storyline is that while Paul is putting the pieces together about Ricky at warp speed, cunning, suspicious, master-manipulator Phyllis is barely registering him on her radar, and Daisy, who appears to have lost her super-psycho powers when she married Daniel, is letting Ricky walk all over her. It doesn't ring true. Both of these women should be one step ahead of Ricky and two steps ahead of Paul. Don’t get me wrong, I love the storyline with the past coming back, but not all aspects have been entirely believable. Anyway, it was a nice nod to the past, and quite amusing, to have Phyllis, Paul, Danny, and Christine sitting at the same table in the Club – loved it.

    Tension (
Thursday - The Worst Of Me.
As Ricky’s mission continued, he visited Tim Reid, who all these years later keeps his old client files in the middle of his living room. Seriously? As if he even would have been allowed to keep them. So there they were, and lo and behold, Ricky found Phyllis’ file in the very first box he opened. Gah. Over at the Club, Paul was fit to be tied over the suspicious death of Craig Hunt and was about ready to slap Christine, who’d decided it was the right time to play devil’s advocate. Over at the Fenmore/Baldwin residence, Lauren gave Michael the cold shoulder and evil-eye as they discussed the possibility of him becoming D.A. Enter Avery, who made Lauren seem selfish with her enthusiasm on Michael's behalf. In a nice twist, Lauren relented and we enjoyed a feel-good moment...right up until Michael uttered the name, "Heather Stevens." Elsewhere, Daniel took the plunge and slept with Daisy again. Such an uncomfortable scenario! At the penthouse, emotions were all over the place as Phyllis admitted in front of an apologetic Danny and supportive Nick that she sees the worst of herself in Daisy, and then later, reached out to Avery and asked her to be her maid of honor. Good soapy stuff.

    Friday - My Father’s Pet.
The day kicked off with Michael’s amusement at having seen Phyllis chatting with Christine, Danny, and Paul at the Club. Another terrific little 'wink' to the past storyline – like an inside joke for long-term viewers! This whole episode turned out to be like that, in fact, with all of the old flashbacks – amazing - and really well-done as far as cross-referencing them with what was occurring in the present day. Ricky really enjoyed himself reading the notes from Phyllis’s file and chuckling over the similarities to Daisy. He also got lucky again when Tim called to give him a big tip-off. Over at Gloworm, the air was rife with tension as Victor and Billy went another round, while Sharon dropped a bomb on Victoria - she slept with Billy. Take that! It did seem like a bit of an odd choice on Sharon’s part, though, to admit that it was on the eve of his marriage to Chloe when she was the maid of honor, since it didn't make her look very good. It was fun when Victoria called Victor up and shared the news, though, "Hey Dad, you’re dating Billy’s sloppy seconds!" Too funny. Over at the penthouse, Avery and Phyllis bonded some more. It makes you wonder if Avery will be the one to defend Phyllis when Ricky brings her past to light. Today's episode also had the goodbye between Danny and Christine, which actually managed to bring me tears. I’m still trying to figure out if it was the nostalgia or what... Speculation has it that Noah is gay, that's his big secret.
Would be very interesting to see the reaction of Nick, Sharon, Nikki, and The Mustache to THAT revelation!

Thanks for the recap. I used to watch this show years ago when Danny and Cricket were the big item. Remind me though, didn't Michael Baldwin do something terrible to Cricket/Christine? Like rape her or attack her or something? If so, why are they all huggy-kissy now? I remember he went to prison way back when, but I guess I missed their make-up scene. And I believe everyone thought, at the time, that Phyllis tried to run Cricket down. I am liking this blast-from-the-past, back when the stories were really good.

I guess Ricky is now going to take over for Adam as the writers are trying to redeem one psychopath, they have to replace him to do so.

I agree with most of what you said but no way did I think Avery made Lauren look selfish in regards to not being happy with Michael's job offer. Lauren or any wife does not have to rubberstamp everything their husband wants. Lauren has valid concerns and she was not only worried for herself but also Michael. She has played second fiddle to his career every since they have been together and who can blame her to want to have Michael ease up a bit and not take such a stressful job. I found Avery's unasked opinions obtrusive and overbearing. Michael and Lauren both told her they were talking things over and she kept saying how Michael must take the job. This was between Michael and Lauren and was none of her business. She is not part of their marriage and is just a new friend to Michael. I don't know why she would think she should have any say in what Michael and Lauren decide. I did like Likey's discussion in the end, as Lauren put aside her concerns for Michael but I still believe her concerns were valid.

Were the flashbacks real? I been watching this show for a very long time. I started watching Y&R because I worked a night shift at my job. After that I've been recording the show daily. Has to have been over 20 years I've been watching. I just don't remember these scenes. Did they just dress up for the 90's? Everyone looked the same to me, like they hadn't aged. They didn't look young in these flashbacks, especially Danny. I remember what he looked like when he was young, Cricket too for that matter. I remember not liking Phyllis at that time, but then, like the same old story line's of today, she was redeemed and we all began to like Phyllis...or at least we didn't hate her as bad. Then there was the Phyllis who did her best to save her son from Nick and the cops after Cassie was killed and he ran across the country with....was it Lily? I don't know. It just seemed that these were not flashbacks, but the characters dressing up like it was the 90's? Maybe old stuff from the cutting room floor? I don't remember Phyllis and Dr. Tim getting together? But I remember hating Phyllis for breaking up Danny and Cricket. I don't even remember the accident? But I also remember Danny and Cricket having a chance to get together, just like this week and them not taking that chance. I know I'm getting old....but these flashbacks just didn't seem real to me. Please were they real and is there a place that I can go to see old shows?

I remember when Brock was on the show all of the time. When Catherine and Jill fought over Catherine's husband. I remember there were flashbacks of Catherine husband's car going over the cliff. I remember when Cricket, Paul, Danny, Traci, Jack and Ashley were young and use to throw the pool parties. I remember when Traci was teased by Lauren when they were teens....I just don't remember the flashbacks they used this week. I was looking forward to some old time Y&R!

I'm positive that the clips shown on Friday were the original. In fact, I remembered most of them. If you'll notice, Paul wasn't wearing a hairpiece and Danny & Phyllis looked soooo young. Cricket never changes. Reuniting Cricket and Danny was cute, but I didn't feel any real chemistry between them. Like so many others, their time has passed--time to move on.

Sharon really made herself look bad by telling Victoria about her one nite stand with Billy. She should have told the entire truth and told her that Billy was one of three men who could have been Faith's father. So many fans think Jack is Summer's father--wouldn't it be a hoot if Billy turned out to be Faith's real father (lol)!

Liked seeing the old clips, but hate that Phick is going to be ruined again! I disagree that Phyllis has never paid a price for her sins, because she's paid more than most.
