    Billy and Amber. (
    Restless Rant
    Week of September 22 - 26

Things picked up quite a bit this week in Genoa City! Daniel's 'sketchy' art show was fast-paced and full of great dynamics between the different characters, Michael 'Ball Of Stress' Baldwin got one shock after another, and the Mustache wound up in a rare, weakened state! Plenty to rant and rave about this time around - here goes…

Billy/Amber/Daniel/Colleen/Lily: Where to start? Even though the idea that Daniel's sketches would warrant a showing in New York City was totally unbelievable, it was amazing to see these characters interacting someplace different - two thumbs up! Billy, much to Daniel's chagrin, stole the limelight somewhat with his Cheshire cat grin and bad boy charm. Daniel sure wrestled to remain unaffected by 'Liam', but he failed miserably - he so obviously loves Amber. Colleen, meanwhile, is playing a losing game - and everyone knows it but her! What I'm seeing is that, for Colleen, this has become more about one-upping Amber than about actually having feelings for Daniel. Even Lily can see that Colleen is making a fool of herself - I was digging Lily's obvious irritation with her BFF - and by the way, don't you think 'Drinking Lily' is the best version of herself ever?! Did I mention yet that I love Billy? He's going to cause so much upheaval - and be totally gorgeous doing it! Yay! Fabulous casting! Bravo!

Michael/River/Eden/Lauren: I know everyone is waiting to see what I say about Eden, so here it is - she has got to be the most unpopular new character (with fans) in recent memory! From the minute Michael opened the door to his new sis, she was cringingly belligerent and rude. She was even mean to poor Noah, who has nothing to do with her father going to jail! Are we supposed to buy this? That River, the dulcet-toned, peace-loving guru, raised this creature? In an Ashram? Something is seriously off with this character. I think maybe they've tried to write her in such a way that we can draw similarities between her and the ever-grumpy Michael, but there is no logical reason she would behave like Michael - she'd be a product of her environment - right? Moving on, Michael's evolving feelings for River are being written wonderfully - and who does conflicted emotions better than Cristian LeBlanc? As for Lauren, I would still like to see her get something to do besides hand-hold and run interference for this dysfunctional family. Please.

Gloria/Jeffrey: So we're back to him threatening to turn her in?! Please, no! Say it isn't so! This has got to be resolved! As for Jeffrey calling the Feds on River - I loved it! I thought his jealousy and nasty behavior was just right for the character - and was a great catalyst for the evolving drama with Lowell/River and his family. Michael confronting Jeffrey was great too, but I missed Kevin's comic relief in this scene. Oh, and Gloria's shock at discovering Eden's existence was right on too! She was actually speechless, sort of.

The Victor Situation: I'm sure Sabrina fans loved the ghost/dream scenes with her and Victor, but I found them corny and predictable. Does this sort of thing have to happen every time someone dies on a Soap? Yeesh! I loved the gentle Nick rushing to his father's aid though - he really is a sweetie. The whole thing in the hospital bugged me too - Nikki was awfully snarky and outspoken for someone who really should be staying away - Paul was bang on when he told her it might be time to back off! Ya' think? On the whole, I'm waiting for further clarification on what happened in Mexico, because I can't get a grasp on where Victor is coming from. He's an extremely strong individual, and to think that he is deliberately letting himself become weak to the point of being at the mercy of others, is frankly, bizarre.

Sharon/Phyllis: I'm settling in now with the renewed animosity between this pair. At least they were able to agree that what's happening with Victor is unfortunate! Phyllis's insecurities are showing after the 'letter' - she's really determined to keep tabs on Sharon and her marriage. But oddly, she almost seems like she is trying to escalate the issues between Jack and Sharon, which I don't quite understand. Sharon's insecurities are also showing - she wasted no time in assuring the doubtful Phyllis that her marriage was fine, and that it is going to last - even though doubt was written all over her own visage! I felt Sharon's anger toward Jack though, when she made that phone call - the embarrassment of having to have Phyllis tell her that Jack isn't where he said he was! I'd be kicking his butt too! As for Jack, where Sharon's concerned, I'm not liking him one bit for going behind her back! Slimy! How quickly he has forgotten his promises!

    Look out Jack! (
Jack/Adam: Old-school Batman and Robin - that's what they look like to me! I get a chuckle out of this truly odd couple! Cocky Jack sure pushed the envelope with that Mexican bartender! Lucky for him he got out with all of his body parts intact! As for Adam's idea that they make up the portions of Victor's story that they couldn't actually find out, wow, that's one bad idea. For a smart kid, he's sure a slow-learner where Victor's concerned! Incidentally, Jack checked their flights online via his phone - couldn't he have accessed the web and found out that Tony Amato is a mobster in, oh, 10 seconds?! Hello!

Cane/Chloe: Ah, the reluctant hand-rub. One baby step toward coupledom. Do you think they'll start getting close just in time for Cane to find out the baby isn't really his? Ho hum. Oh, for the record, I hope conflict builds between Cane and Jill. Every time they're in a scene together and he looks irritated with her, I find myself wishing he'd blow up at her - I don't really know why…I'd just like it.

Katherine: Looks like something is up with Mrs. C - she's getting obvious information wrong (Lily's baby?), and is forgetting things (oh, THAT ultrasound photo we saw). Esther is right to be concerned - this is a very curious turn of events. It's almost like Katherine is too stressed out - she just isn't herself…

Y&R seemed to get into a groove this week. Unlike Dick Dentner, who couldn't find his own butt with a compass and a map, the writers seem to know exactly what they're doing and where they are going with these storylines. Let's hope this trend continues - for the most part, I'm digging it, man!

Please be sure to comment or leave a rant of your own! When doing so, please remember the guidelines, in particular, that it's fine to bash characters, but not the actors/actresses that portray them, or their physical attributes or skills. And don't worry about disagreeing with me - it's all in fun!

Please get a new Eden if she is staying.
I also hope they get a grown up Abby.

Thanks for the rant Candace. I must say that I am loving NuBilly with his bad boy charm and I'm still undecided about Eden - I'll wait a bit more before chewing her head off. As for Trampoleen, well I think she's making a complete fool of herself. I like where the show is going right now, there's a lot of action!

Great rant Candace, although I love Eden. Never estimate the power of genetics couple with teenage angst. Monsters can happen anywhere! I too preferred drinking Lily. Please writers, let's see more of her and less of Silly Dilly Lily.

    Thanks C!

    **Spoiler Alert**

Eden does become a tad bit more sympathetic next week. As of Monday's show she had stopped shrieking and spitting accusations, but was still fairly negative and I still find that hard to swallow when she was raised by peace-loving, positive-spin-on-everything people - supposedly that's all she knows is the 'Ashram' outlook on life...

Her behavior to some extent could be explained by stress and teenage angst, but I'm telling the truth when I say that I was cringing whenever she was onscreen this past week.

Here's hoping the character settles in - I'm all for it.

Good Rave Candace, are you one of the people in the back ground on the computers at Restless Style? everyone takes up for Sharon she lies and manipulates like the rest. she is sneeky I think she is a snake in the grass just like Brad and Colleen, and speaking of Colleen she doesn't have a right calling Amber a skank. she takes all of Ambers left over in men. and at first I wanted Daniel and Amber back together but not any more He is such a jerk.He keeps saying He cheated with Colleen to get back at Amber but now he is just it in for the roll in the hay.I think that Mrs. C helped Amber to change for the better.I think that Billy will go after Lily even if it is just to get at Cane. I still think that maybe Billy and Cane knew each other in Australia because He said He has been there He told some one at the art showing if I'm not mistaken. I think that are in a plot to get the Abbot Chancelor money.
and I think that Jeff and Gloria will fool Catherine into selling her shares because she isn't thinking right. and that is how they will get a piece of Jabot.I wished Gloria wouldn't be scared of Jeff turning her in about the cream he does thing illegal all the time.I just wished someone would slap that smerk off his face.
Eden is a spoiled brat. I hope that Noah keeps telling her off. she is a bitter person. we will have to see what is in store with the s/l's and see if we get shocked every now and again.

With the exception of this actress being too old for the part, that is why I get the feeling she is over acting the part. But give her time, and I know she'll find her nitch in the GC community...after all she's just a teenage girl filled with fantasy in her young head.. She will learn what the real world is like soon enough when she learns that her father kept the truth from her. He will be acquited and they will live happily ever after. Chuckle.

I knew they needed a young person for Noah to enter act with now that he is older. Looks like it might be be Eden.

All's not great in the paradise of love and war!
Someone's not a happy camper either way maybe perhaps Daniel or Lily.

Amber's just trying to find a man of her own, but Daniel's the stupid one here being with Colleen who doesn't love him at all and using herself as an open "trampoleen garden tool" of sorts.
    Billy, oh my!

He's hitting the skeds with his brother's ex-wife Amber and really making Daniel mad with jealousy at this point! (lol)

    Poor Lily,

having to look at her ex-husband Daniel's porn nude artworks of her best friend Colleen's drawings and getting really juiced up on lots of champaigne at the New York Art Gallery Show isn't really helping, because she misses Cane very terribly.
She brought this on herself, of telling her man (Cane) to marry Chloe/Kate beause of a baby that isn't even his or born yet!
Now that was the dummist thing for Lily to even suggust this to Cane in the first place.
    Victor Situation:

I hated how nasty he was really being with his kids and giving the hospital slip of not going to the nuthouse for medical help.
Nikki should've kept her mouth shut, if she isn't willing to help her own kids save their father for his own wellbeing.

Your Rant was fabulous! However, I can’t wait until dizzy Chloe get her just due for breaking up Cane and Lily with her deceptions.

Your rant about Jack and Adam was hilarious. Yes, Jack should be thankful he made it out of the Mexican bar with body parts still intact. IMO, Victor will deal with Jack and Adam in a manner, they least expect it.
