    True talk. (Soaps.com)
    Restless Rant
    Week of May 7 – 11:

There’s a bit of a shadow over "Y&R" going into this week. It's getting a tad weird, and suddenly it’s not as recognizable, as many favorite characters are only being seen in fits and spurts, perhaps due to the increased cast size. It’s frustrating to see potential storylines with the likes of Gloria and Jeffrey, or Chloe and Abby, dangled before us once every couple of weeks and then go missing again.

    Monday - It’s A Blueberry!
Today, Victor and Sharon kissed twice. Here’s what’s up – a woman being attracted to a powerful older man like Newman is nothing new or extraordinary, but in this case, she’s been married to both of his sons and her children call him ‘Grandpa’, so it’s just a place most women would never go. Further, Sharon is supposed to be stronger and more self-assured than ever, yet this is coming across as though she's hit bottom and has nothing left to lose. Elsewhere, Ashley told Jack about Genevieve and Tucker’s hidden past. If we’d seen Gen and Tucker discuss their past when she first arrived on the scene, it might make more sense, but honestly, there was no good reason for them to keep it secret! Silly. The Nikki/Jack angst tugged at my heartstrings, even though I don’t really believe Jack will put his son ahead of his own desires in the end. As for Kyle, his hook-up with Eden actually made her interesting for a brief time. While I’m uncomfortable with the SORASing of the character, NuKyle brings a certain flavor to his scenes. Bravo for Sofia having the guts to get the straight poop from Neil on his feelings for Harmony, but the minute he admitted it, she should have kicked him definitively to the curb. Phyllis and Nick checked into the hospital for a false alarm crisis. I have to admit that Nick was cute with his ‘blueberry’ talk – made me smile. Over at McCall, poor Ashley walked in on Tucker and Harmony in the sack. I was as shocked as Ashley at the turn of events! I say do away with spoilers – this would have had ten times less impact if viewers had known it was coming. Well done!

Tuesday - Smacked Across The Face.
Still stunned by Tucker’s actions, I was really able to feel Ashley’s pain and confusion in this episode. I also felt for Tucker, who was clearly appalled with himself and feeling desperate. Bravo to Mrs. C for throwing Harmony out of the house! Meanwhile, unaware of Harmony's romp, Neil confessed his lady troubles to Devon, who disappointingly, didn’t call out the serial philanderer to the degree I would have liked. Across town, Nikki found Sharon and Victor together at the ranch and reacted as expected. Victor took it to the playground level by taunting, "Say hello to Jack Abbott!" I’ll tell you what; anyone who gets willingly involved in Nikki and Victor’s emotional games deserves what they get.

    Wednesday - Slinging Mud.
Another member of the ‘Guilty Absentee Father Club’ resurfaced today, as Paul met Ricky for a chat, which went exactly how you’d expect – Ricky tried to manipulate him. Kudos to Paul for catching on immediately. Later this week, Eden also finally clued in that she’s been cohabitating with a psycho, and gave him the boot. I had to admire her. At the penthouse, Phyllis awkwardly told Avery her good news as they plod their way toward being something resembling normal sisters. Daniel returned, and seemingly had a lobotomy while he was away, because he proposed to Daisy. Daniel has always been a grassroots guy with integrity – he’d never do it this way.

    Best! (Soaps.com)
Over at the park, Jill indulged in a little mud wrestling with Genevieve before setting off for Australia. I liked the gathering that resulted, and it was all fairly amusing – especially Delia in the mud in her dress – like we didn’t see that coming!

Thursday - Crazy’s Busting Out All Over.
News of Daniel’s insane scheme began to make the rounds today, beginning with Daisy taunting Lauren and Michael in Gloworm. Couldn’t you just smack her? Over at Crimson Lights, Paul listened to Avery’s story about Ricky’s ex-girlfriend and didn’t appear to jump to the same conclusion we all did, which is that Ricky actually killed her! Daniel downed a few shots and married Daisy, with Kevin’s support. I was disappointed in Kevin for not coming up with a sneaky and diabolical alternative. Slacking. Loved Michael and Phyllis making up! Friendship is so often undervalued on this show.

Friday - Started On A Pole And Wound Up In A Bottle.
Easily the most entertaining episode this week – plenty of veteran characters we love to watch. Joined at the hip these days, Chelsea and Adam made their way over to spank Victor, and were taken aback to find Sharon there, obviously in the middle of something suspicious. Loved Adam’s true talk to Victor about getting naked with Sharon! Anyway, Victor laughed at Chelsea turning down $10 million and I could see his point - it is a bit ridiculous that she’d walk away from it. It’s great to see Victor not get his way though. Out and about in Genoa City, Nikki made the rounds, telling all and sundry about the shameful situation with Sharon and Victor. The Nikki/Sharon showdown at the Club was a real treat! Nick and Adam’s disdainful and dismissive reactions to Sharon trying to explain what she’s doing with Victor, should have been a wake-up call, but instead, sent her off on a knee-jerk reaction date in Chicago with Victor. Gah. At therapy, Jack began to bond with Sarge, and experienced a twinge that might herald the beginning of his miracle recovery - we'll see! Elsewhere in town, Daniel’s brain went completely AWOL as he got Daisy drunk and left her passed out with Lucy. What are they doing to Daniel? Maddening! Anyway, Phyllis found her and they all headed over to Jimmy’s to find him necking with that desperado, Eden. No words.

Freakin disgusted at the breaking up of Tucker and Ashley, especially the way they are going about it.

Devon is about to earn the biggest hipocrite badge of honor, I can just feel it.

Thanks Candace, look forward to your Friday Blogs and like the new day by day recaps even better. I also agree that there are way too many players in the field right now. Hate to see a core character like Ashley leave to make room for so many and unnecessary new ones.

Good rant. I like the new day by day rant. There are some interesting happenings in GC right now, but like you I think there are so many characters that they are chopped up too much so that each one gets some air time. The show needs to be a two hour show.
Re the come back from Sharon, Nikki should take heed to the saying that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones That wss the best zinger of the week.

I don't think it was a good idea for Phyliss to interfere with Daniel's plan & convince Daisy that Daniel is playing her. It may backfire.
Sharon is completely out of control. She has proven that she is still not the strong person she claims to be. As for spending her time with faith, well that didn't last long.
Wow, now Kyle is out drinking and chasing girls already, & moving in Eden's circle. They grow up fast in soapland.
It surprised me to see Kay throw Harmony out, she is usally pretty broadminded & accepting of peoples foibles. Tucker's lack of character really got him in trouble this time. I feel sorry for Ashley. Wonder how that will affect his relationship with Kay.

Candace, excellent blog this week. How could Daniel profess to love his daughter so much and then get Daisy drunk and leave her with Lucy sleeping in the next room. As for Sharon, she's got to be the neediest woman in town. So glad Nick & Adam are not fighting over who's going to rescue her this time. Loved watching Nick smile again. Phyllis is the only woman that can put that smile on his face. I, too, wish Sofia had kicked Neil to the curb. He's a real sleaze! Did anyone (besides me) feel a little chemistry between Avery and Paul?

I'm sure the show wont even be recognizable by fall. It looks like its going to be a show about teens and twenty-somethings. On Friday, we saw things to come, when Billy was advising Kyle about his sex life.

And what about Reed? He was just there recently to meet his new brother. Why isn't he drinking and picking up on girls. What s joke all this rapid aging has become. Can't wait to see Faith and who next? Delia? Stop it already
