    Restless Rant
    Week of April 23 – 27:

To switch things up, this week’s edition of the Rant will be a day-by-day breakdown hitting on the events that stood out. Sound off with your comments after reading!

    Monday - Cookies To Sell?
Mark it down in the history books – Victor claimed to be powerless! Of course, this was when Nick asked him to call in a favor with the judge on Daniel’s custody case. Unheard of! Later, Phyllis was ready to rip Daisy’s face off – loved the intensity, and this stuff still makes me think Daisy will end up dead with people like Phyllis and Lauren as suspects. At Crimson Lights, Sofia got up in Harmony’s face a bit (finally) and Harmony pretended Sarge was her boyfriend. Didn’t see that coming… Elsewhere, Ricky told Daisy he’ll be digging up dirt on his former boss – I still can’t decide if it works for me that he’s such a slimeball, but he's definitely shaping up as a viable nemesis for tough cookie, Phyllis. Best scene of the episode – Jack opens his front door to Victor and asks if he’s selling cookies. Spew your drink across the room funny – it’s always such a treat when these two face-off with their one-liners!

Tuesday - A Generous Percentage For Lying.
Genevieve irritated me today, running from Victor to Tucker – and why would Tucker help her after she screwed him over? Meh. Lauren finally got to point her gun at Daisy – don’t tell me she wasn’t dying to do this since the day she acquired it! The whole thing that bothers me is how unrealistic it is that Daisy would even be allowed anywhere near Lauren, her building, her family, or her business. Delusional Daisy then ran to the penthouse looking for sympathy from Daniel – just bizarre. Over at Devon’s studio, he inexplicably encouraged Harmony and Neil to dance together, and then they all went to celebrate Devon’s success – except Harmony did a runner because she’s addicted to Neil, Neil left the party to chase after Harmony, and Tucker dumped Devon and Ashley to schmooze with Genevieve at the bar! Egad.

    Wednesday - Temptation.
Today, Neil and Harmony held an inane conversation at the Chancellor estate. First off, Neil’s an arse. Why is it that he holds himself and his family members to such high standards in every aspect of life – yet he is utterly incapable of self-control when it comes to cheating? Secondly, this storyline feels irritatingly predictable – soap opera love triangle 101 - how about some totally unexpected twists ahead? Meanwhile, down at the station, Michael yelled at Phyllis for not telling him Lauren had a gun, but gave Jill a free pass. Huh? The scene with Lauren in her cell having a flashback was much appreciated as it gave a vivid reminder of why she is acting the way she is right now. Best scene of the day – Katherine working at Fenmore’s. Love Katherine, loved the comic relief!

    NuKyle. (Soaps.com)
    Thursday - Best Brothers.
It’s good that Cane is continuing to make an effort with his mother, and that Lily is backing him up, but honestly, Genevieve comes across as such a dud sometimes that you couldn’t blame him if he gave up. At the station, Lauren wasn’t happy to see Michael canoodling with Avery, and I think that’s fair – Avery did fight to get Daisy released and wouldn’t listen to anyone who advised her against it. Elsewhere, the SEC agents made the rounds – for anyone who still cares about Beauty of Nature this could prove interesting, but for those of us who believe Victor will end up with it regardless, it’s tough to get too hot and bothered. Over at the courthouse, Chelsea came through on the adoption – hurray for feel good moments! Across town at Newman Enterprises, Victor went into tyrant mode and fired the ever-faithful Michael. Michael, this could be the best thing to ever happen to you!

Friday - The Smell Of Seafood.
This episode was pretty darn good! Abby and Chloe bonded over their dislike of Carmine – foreshadowing of a coming triangle with any luck. Ashley tore into Jack about this surgery he had planned – classic Abbott family dynamics! Billy and Victoria asked Chloe and Kevin to be John’s godparents – just weird. Phyllis got nauseous at the sight of Jeffrey…and his seafood, and later discovered she is pregnant. This was an unexpected twist! The scenes between her and Nick keep surprising me – this new, mature approach is somewhat intriguing. Sharon, in a rather eye-popping red dress, seemed like a bit of a fish out of water on this episode. If she’s going to make it her mission to defend Adam to everyone, why isn’t she with him? As for Chelsea and Adam kissing, this is a repeat of the Chloe/Kevin situation. They have an amazing vibe as friends, yet are being pushed into a romantic relationship despite having no sexual chemistry. At the church, Baby John was christened - I was disappointed that John Abbott's ghost didn't appear to visit his namesake. Hopefully we'll get to see that before long.

The real delight of the day, of course, was NuKyle blowing into town - what a mess! You have to love it when a freckle-faced ten year-old goes on a trip and returns as a tough-talking twenty-something in a leather jacket with Adam Newman hair. Only on "Y&R!" Anyway, in no time flat the stuff was hitting the fan for Nikki and Jack – "You’re holding the hand that bashed my mother’s head in!" Just awesome. The icing on the cake? Kyle striding into Victor’s office and announcing that he plans to move in at the ranch. Good for a giggle!

Candace, you missed posting that Ashley and Tucker's marriage is heading into severely rocky ground.

Posted by Candace_Soaps.com at Friday, April 27 2012 11:23 AM

HeyMon, I didn't remark on that because it's just sort of starting, and I avoid talking about spoilers in the blog.

I'm so over the BON storyline. If the SEC is so concerned with how Genevieve acquired her money, wouldn't ill gotten gains mean the sale of BON to her in the first place would be null and void and revert back to NE? Why would Vic be so worried now about how Genevieve got her money? He would be re-instated as the rightful owner, wouldn't he? I don't get the reason why Tucker and Sofia play acted a business break up, that was so lame. And Harmony and Neil have chemistry, but it's not endearing at all. I'd like to see him keep it in his pants and stay true to his wife, for once. Harmony is no Drucilla and he can't wish her to be that way no matter how hard he tries! PS-I love Adam and Chelsea, especially if that gets him out of Sharon's orbit. Think Phyllis and Nick are not pregnant, at least I hope not!

I'm also sick of BON. At this point I don't care who owns it, just stop this boring storyline. Loving the new and mature Phick! It's nice to see them talking, bonding, supporting each other and acting like a real couple. There's more to these two than just sex and a baby would be a welcome addition for them. I agree that Chelsea and Adam make great friends, but there's no romantic chemistry between these two. Since Adam is not chasing Sharon, I really hope she won't go after Nick again--and if she does I'm hoping Nick will turn her down. Used to like Neil, but he's such a hypocrite! He wanted Sofia when she was with Malcolm and now that he has her, he wants Harmony. Sorry, but I don't see/feel chemistry between Neil & Harmony. Neil needs to realize that he's got a good wife at home and stop chasing after another woman. Now that Victoria has her baby, I'm hoping she'll relax into motherhood and stop being so moody. Although I do think after the adoption proceeding was over, Victoria should have immediately gone over to Chelsea and thanked her and not waited for Billy to take the initiative. Candace thanks for the rant. You always do an exceptional job and I look forward to it every week!

Why are these soaps so desperate to age everybody? I remember when some of the great stories came out of character's teenage years, like Victoria & Ryan & Cole & Daddy's whole controlling issues, Nick & Sharon & their teenage love & Cassie growing up & her subsequent car crash.
If they had aged Kyle by 3 years & brought him back it would have been great.
It just seems like such a waste of good story lines in a desperate rush to age characters.

I am wondering if they are planning to kill off old Murphy. I noticed in the coming's and going's that The guy's from the diner are going to make an appearance and Kay mentioned that Murphy was sick. Kind of makes you wonder.

After all the crap that went on between Phyllis/Sharon/Nick, and that was started a very long time ago, I'm sick of all of them!!! Very tired of this story line! This started way back when Casey died and Daniel ran off with...whoever!!! Like I said, it was so long ago. This story line has gone on forever!!! When it first happened, I was thrilled to see Nick with Phyllis!! There were big fights between Sharon/Nick and Phyllis/Nick fans....Please let this story line be over!!! Now, as far as Lucy goes, if Phyllis would have left Lucy with Victoria and Billy, then maybe Daisy wouldn't have been passed around so much. Victoria and Billy were willing to let Phyllis be "Grandma" and Daniel watch Lucy grow up and be around her. Lucy should still be with Villy!!! Daisy may have come back into town and tried to get her daughter back, but there would have been a better chance of Villy keeping her because Daisy abandoned Lucy in the church. Billy could have said he didn't know it was a bad adoption? I don't know, but I'm really tired of some of the story lines and I'm sick of Phyllis. Michael didn't get upset with Jill for not telling him about Lauren's gun because she isn't his best friend, like Phyllis is supposed to be. Yes, Phyllis should have told Michael about the gun because Lauren has been a little crazy lately!!! I don't see where Phyllis is any more mature or acting more adult. She keeps changing her mind about her sister. One minute they are sisters and the next she's saying that Avery is just like their father? I cannot stand Phyllis anymore. She's just as dirty as Ricky.

I love Neil and Harmony and I think she is a lot like Drucilla. But, I agree that he shouldn't be messing around while he's married. It's obvious that he's not interested in Sofia!

Tired of Nikki running back and forth to the Turd! She says she's done with him but keeps making excuses to see him. I don't buy that she wanted the Turd to know that "Today" was the adoption day....She looks old and tired and she is just nasty and mean to anyone she doesn't agree with. Ashley is the same way and I'm tired of watching them yelling at each other all the time. Gen may not be the best person, but I was excited to see her with Jack. Give us some new people on the show to couple up with some of the standard couples, instead of the same swaps over and over!!!

That should have read that I'm tired of Nikki and Ashley yelling at everyone. Seems like they are just pissed off all of the time.

Also, I meant to say Give us some new people on the show to couple up with some of the standard "characters," instead of the same couple swaps over and over!!!

    Hi Candace!!!

I really like the new format! This way it seems like we can get more details from each episode...Cool!

I was FINALLY GLAD when Sophia got in Harmony's face! As little as it was (should have been harder)it was about time. And about that conversation between Neil and Harmony (hating the fact other than making Neil a disrespectful character after all these years) was uncomfortable. LOL
What gets me is that Harmony acts like Neil was the one chasing her FROM THE BEGINNING. But if memory serves me correct, she was the one flaunting her hands and body all over him. Now acting like a lost vulnerable puppy dog...really???

I do not like how they are portraying Genie Francis (Genevieve). She goes back and forth wherever the wind blows making her look so incompetent. It does not do the actress or the character justice. (in my opinion)

Daisy....What can I say??? She's definitely one in a million (different personalities). She runs lose while Lauren goes to jail and has a trial. Ok, so you can already see that this is going to break her and Michael up by putting him with Avery. I kind of like them (Mike and Avery) together, but Michael has been such a stand up guy for him to break up this family. For Lauren to be totally tormented by a brat like Daisy...Not realistic. Lauren has to go to trial and jail for being a victim. Please....

    One more note....

I do like the fact that Victor FIRED Michael. I was tired of seeing Micheal being portrayed as a 'puppet' for Victor doing all of his dirty work (along with his family)and keeping his hands clean. Getting away with everything.

I agree with the previous postings on aging Kyle so fast. You miss out on storylines that would have been better used. I mean even a few years would have been better. Even the previous actor (he was cute)could have pulled off the surprise look of finding out that Jack was involved with the person who KILLED HIS MOTHER! (Totally forgot about that connection)

And Jack should have known better and told Kyle about his impending relationship (be it short lived as we all know) with Nikki. Being all consumed in that STUPENDOUS SURGERY talk. (That would mean the END OF SARGE! AND WE CAN'T HAVE THAT...yet).

    Thanks! Have a nice weekend.
