Week of January 16 – 20:
Well, it was a week that delivered plenty in the way of drama and tension, with just a dab of romance here and there. Let’s get right to the thoughts:
Just wait until I’m done with these people.
So, it looks like Chelsea’s going to be a force to be reckoned with – she’s already managing to get Billy and Vikki feeling sorry for her despite knowing full well she’s a con artist. I’ll be disappointed if world-wise Billy gets too taken in by her – c’mon, even Keeley can see what she’s about! Like all good soap opera villains, Chelsea makes viewers positively squirm with the desire to have her gone from the screen. Having Cane tell Chelsea that she picked the wrong mark for her con was a nice bit of foreshadowing too – makes one wonder if he’ll get involved again at some point. The Cane/Billy relationship reels me in every time. Chelsea is also working with someone – no doubt her mother, who is due in town before long – double trouble!
On frozen pond.
Cane and Lily’s little skating date was a nice bit of romance inserted into the rather heavy week of drama, but they really need more to do – they can be happy and still mix in with other storylines so they don’t become isolated.
Well, the Victor/Sharon union was seemingly short-lived, but the hullabaloo created a lot of great interactions among the characters involved – I could go on all day. The scenes between Adam and Nick, and Adam and Victor were riveting – miss a facial expression and you miss a lot. Nikki and Katherine discussing Victor at Gloworm? Awesome. Heck, we even got to see Lauren doing her thing this week – loved that! Tying it all into the business storyline/sting against Adam worked exceptionally – Victor was really working it from behind bars, wasn’t he? Every conversation and event had some degree of tension until near the end of Friday’s episode when Tucker told Ashley the truth, Victor kissed Nikki, and Sharon warned Adam. Can’t wait to see what happens next - and that’s what it’s all about. What do you think Victor will do to Sharon for warning Adam?
It was pretty hard to buy the fact that Ronan was able to magically coax all those memories and details out of Nikki, but if it brings us closer to sorting out this Diane mess and moving on, I’m in. The next step is to see how it all fits together, as it still seems Nikki only played a part in Diane’s death.
Wow, Eden went from chill hippy-gal to bunny boiler in nothing flat! In all seriousness, I see her point in being miffed about the Daniel/Chloe kiss, and love that she sent the photo to Kevin to stir up trouble. As for Ricky, he’s just got the creepiest, iciest vibe…
Oh Angelina, if Kevin drowned you in Long Island Sound, we’d forgive him. Kevin’s pure rage at Angie’s confession was brilliant to watch, but Angelina continues to be too cartoon-y to connect with on any real emotional level, which is disappointing because had we been able to identify with her in those scenes, it might have been a turning point.
Smack of the week.
You know it’s going to Devon, who as predicted in last week’s rant, acted like a stubborn arse upon learning that people actually wanted to help him hear better. Thank goodness he came around quickly!
Having it all.
Jack toasted Genevieve to 'having it all', but I’m pretty sure since he’s too dumb to recognize Patty, or her voice, when she’s standing right in front of him in his living room, that he deserves whatever clout to the head is coming! Methinks Gen’s dipping into her Canary Island account to buy up Beauty of Nature out from under Jack’s nose, and Patty’s going to finally snap as the wedding nears. Calling Paulie!
