    In Chicago, the doctor tells Joe that things are going well. Later, Avery arrives in tears. He notices she's not wearing her engagement ring. She explains and sobs, blaming Dylan. After she thanks him for listening, he leans in for a kiss. "What are you doing?" she snaps. She doesn't want a rebound thing. He points out that she keeps returning to his side. The lawyer suggests he's misreading things. He's never stopped loving her and suspects she feels the same way. She insists that his feelings are not reciprocated. She'll move on once he's moving on his own. Once she steps out to call Phyllis and informs her of the breakup, his therapist comes in and tries to help him exercise.

    Avery surprises Phyllis at Yack's bedside. Phyllis tells her the crisis has passed; he's going home today. Avery says Joe is making progress but she came home to see Dylan. Phyllis muses that she needs to smooth things over. Yack dreams about the Peruvian prison and yells out in Spanish. Phyllis asks, "Since when are you fluent in Spanish?" Yack covers by saying she makes him feel like Don Juan.

    At Sharon's place, she and Dylan wake up cuddled together on the sofa. Sharon asks if they're okay. Dylan reassures her nothing will jeopardize their friendship. They share an awkward hug and he goes. Sharon realizes he forgot his wallet. There's a knock. She's saying, "This must have fallen out of your pants," as she opens the door - it's Avery. They snark about Dylan. Sharon says he was the only one who stood by her. Avery realizes Sharon has feelings for him. She confronts her about how the wallet fell out of his pants. Sharon taunts her about Joe. Dylan enters. He thought Avery was staying in Chicago. She snaps at him about his text to stay and reads it out. Sharon admits she sent it. Avery won't let her explain. "She wants you for herself." Avery rants and storms out. Dylan tells Sharon he needs to take care of this. Alone, Sharon looks at a photo of Dylan and Avery from his wallet.

    At Avery's place, she and Dylan argue about Sharon. Avery accuses him of feeding her psychosis. He can't walk away from a friend. Avery thinks it's more. Dylan says he loves Avery, but she is accusing him of being more than friends with Sharon because she has feelings for Joe. They argue about Joe and yell at each other. Dylan wonders how they got here. Avery says he always needs something to protect. Dylan asks if they're over. Avery sees two people trying to fix something that can't be fixed. She puts her ring in his hand and flees.

    In Chicago, Joe begins to use his legs. He tells Avery this means she can go home to Dylan. They bicker. Joe doesn't want her guilt. She hollers that's not what's keeping her there - it's Dylan. His top priority right now is Sharon. Joe insists she go back to Genoa City tonight. It would be too easy to let her stay. He leaves to report his progress to his therapist. "Goodbye Avery." Avery's text to Dylan goes unanswered.

    In Chicago, Avery gets a text from Dylan saying that she made her choice and he made his; she should stay and finish what she started. Joe reappears and she tells him Dylan told her to stay there. Joe thinks he's just angry. Avery won't stay and bother Joe either. He tells, "Don't go."

    At the hospital in Chicago, Joe is failing at physical therapy. Avery orders him around. He's glum and wheels off to see a doctor. Dylan pops up. She thought he was babysitting Sharon. He thought they should spend some time together. Avery admits she's taken a room in the hospital to stay closer to Joe. Playing drill sergeant with him isn't working anymore. He doesn't trust Joe and suggests he's exploiting the situation. She thinks Sharon is doing the same to him. They bicker until Joe rolls back in. Dylan takes off. Avery recaps the argument she just had. He admits that he needed her at the beginning but not now. She's still not going. They get back into the therapy session and Joe impresses her with his progress. As she gives him a hug, Dylan looks in.

    In Chicago, Joe stops his workout. Avery orders him to pick up the weights and use them or he'll get one over the head. Joe says this won't be fixed by a pep talk. She tells him she's grateful he's still on this earth. Joe gets back to work. Avery grabs her phone.

    In Chicago, Joe tells Avery, "I'm here, you're here, that means there's something worth fighting for." She tells him to stop talking and start moving, and smiles.

    At Sharon's place, Michael agrees to go to the hospital with Avery, but doesn't want Lauren called. Later, Noah and Faith arrive. Sharon learns a reporter upset Nick and he punched him. Faith asks about the murder trial. Sharon says some people think she did something very bad because the person who hurt Austin and Courtney is making it look that way. Noah and Faith believe she's innocent. Nick appears. Noah takes Faith home. Nick complains the kids are going through hell because of her. Sharon mentions Sandy and hollers if she's to blame for what they're going through then so the hell is he!
