Adam shows up at the ranch complaining to Victor that he changed the locks on Sharon's house. Victor tells him to go ahead and sue him. Suddenly the D.A. appears - he has questions for Adam about Sharon's escape. Adam tells them if they'd spent half as much energy getting the truth as they do in trying to railroad him, Sharon's funeral would not be today. He tells them to go to hell and leaves.
At the Club, Adam tells Leslie about Sharon's house. She says it will be difficult to fight the eviction unless Sharon bequeathed the house to him in a will.
At the church, Noah and Nick are with Doris, who complains about Sharon losing her way and not listening to them. A breathtaking flower arrangement is by Sharon's photo - they're from Adam. Victor arrives and comforts Doris, who tells him he was the father she never had. Diane tells Noah she's sorry about his mom, but it's Jack who embraces him. Phyllis speaks to Nick, and they agree to talk after. Jack and Diane see her comfort him. Jack muses about Adam stranding them far away from where Sharon was, and Diane asks Victor's permission to speak to Nick. She offers her condolences. Nikki arrives, putting gum in her mouth before joining Doris. Abby and Daniel come in. They greet Noah. Billy and Vikki follow, and Daniel tries to get a moment with Billy, but can't. As the service gets underway, the D.A. stops Adam from going in by serving him with a restraining order. Everyone turns to look as the cops drag Adam away. Outside, Adam finds his flowers and card tossed on the ground. He looks at the upper window of the church. As Nick talks about how Sharon was the first true love of his life inside, Adam scales the wall. As the service concludes, Adam drops in from the bell tower saying he's not leaving until he has his say.
Adam walks into the church and asks Sharon to forgive him - she wouldn't have died if he hadn't talked her into running. He says he'd give anything to have her back. Adam then talks to Hope, saying he knows he's done things she wouldn't approve of, but he wants her to watch over Sharon. He also wonders how to go on without her. The priest appears. Adam asks why God took his mother and Sharon from him. The priest sits, and lets Adam know the funeral is tomorrow. The priest goes as Victor, Noah, and Nick arrive. They argue about who is to blame for Sharon's death. Victor asks Adam to leave and let them mourn in peace. The priest reappears to break it up and Adam exits out the back. Noah worries that he'll crash the funeral.
Neil and Leslie meet for lunch at the Club. He thinks she asked him because of Sharon's death. Leslie says she also enjoys his company and finds him attractive. He accepted for similar reasons. They talk about Sharon and Victor. Adam walks in and Leslie tells him she's so sorry. Neil says he is too. The D.A. appears and arrests Adam for aiding and abetting the escape of a felon. Leslie follows him to the station. Neil gets a call from Lily asking him to watch the twins. He says he's suddenly free.
At the police station, the D.A. tells Adam they trailed him to St. Martin's and then he ditched the tail. Leslie says it's not a crime. Adam tells the D.A. he left hoping Sharon would contact him, and she did. He tears up as he explains that by the time he got there, she was gone. Leslie tells the D.A. to charge Adam or let him go. An officer tells the D.A. Sharon's remains arrived. Adam confirms he saw the body - she was wearing his engagement ring. He asks to claim her remains, but the D.A. says he's not her next of kin.
Nick and Noah arrive at the police station as Adam is still trying to claim Sharon's remains. Adam asks Nick if he could handle it. Nick says Noah and Doris will be doing that. Adam asks to be involved, and appeals to Noah to think about what his mom would want. Noah gives Adam his ring back.
Adam stands in a corridor thinking of the last time he spoke to Sharon. He flashes to the accident, and then an officer takes him to identify the badly burned body. Adam grimaces and says it's Sharon because she's wearing the ring he gave her.
Adam knocks on Doris's door. She doesn't want to discuss anything with him. He blurts that he identified the body. Doris sobs, "No, not Sharon." Adam says he's very sorry. He tells her about the accident. Doris blames him. Adam says he loved Sharon. Doris counters that he used her. Adam insists he didn't trick Sharon into being with him. He shows her the letter Sharon wrote to him, and the letters to Noah and Faith. Doris calls them suicide notes. Adam disagrees. Doris tells him she's glad Sharon didn't marry him again - he will not help plan the funeral and will not be welcome to attend it.
Adam stops at a diner and asks for directions to the Shut Eye Motel. He leaves Sharon a message saying he's almost there. Adam heads to the motel and knocks. The proprietor lets him in. Adam leaves Sharon another message, and then sees the letters. He reads the one with his name on it, which says he and the kids are better off without her in their lives; she'll always love him and will miss him forever, but this is goodbye.
