Nikki watches as Logan and Nick’s doctor wheel him down the hall for an MRI - until she hears Victor’s voice, “Hello.”
In Victor’s office, although Karen and David bicker about whose fault it is that Nikki lost the campaign, Nikki voices her worries of what Victor will do once he comes home and sees the video of David and her kissing! After Karen says her goodbyes to Nikki, and her shallow well-wishes to David, she leaves David and Nikki alone. “It’s been an experience,” David says. Hearing he’s leaving for the airport in a few hours, Nikki appears disappointed.
Just then, Nikki gets a call from Logan who says, “I’m at Memorial Hospital. Your son Nicolas is here with me.” Calmly, Nikki hangs up, thinking it’s a prank, until her secretary comes in saying Dr. Logan Armstrong is on the phone again. When David picks up, Logan demands to be heard! After Nikki gets confirmation from her secretary that there is a Dr. Armstrong at Memorial, she takes the phone and hears that Nick is alive! In shock, Nikki drops the phone and cries to David, “He might be alive!” Nikki rushes out as David picks up the phone and says, “She’s on her way.”
When Nikki gets to the hospital, Logan shows her into Nick’s room! With tears of joy, Nikki gasps, “Thank God, you’re alive!” With a smile, Nick opens his eyes and says, “Hi Mom.” Later, Sharon and Jack arrive and are in shock. After talking to the doctor, Sharon asks Nikki, “Do you know anything else he’s been through?” Just then, Nick wakes up and says, “Hey, Sharon, I’ve been waiting to see you. No welcome home kiss?” As Sharon leans in to kiss his head, Nick takes her in a passionate kiss and refuses to let her go! Although Sharon says, “I know you’re sick but…” Nick replies, “What? I’m not allowed to kiss my wife?” When Sharon tries to explain that they are divorced, Nick doesn’t remember and demands to see his kids! After Sharon promises to bring Noah by, and Nikki says, “I don’t know where your daughter is right now,” Nick says, “Call Cassie's cell phone, tell her to come.” As easy as possible, Nikki informs Nick that Cassie died in a car accident, but Nick screams through tears, “Where’s Cassie? I want Cassie!”
In Nick’s room, while Nick is asleep, Logan assures Nikki that Nick’s memory loss is common but that he has a strong sense of mental health. Later, in the hallway, David tells Nikki he’s decided to stay in Genoa City in case she needs him and to see where things are going between them! Suddenly, Phyllis rushes by and goes into Nick’s room…
At Newman, Kay cheers on Nikki and says, “You’re looking at the new state senator of Wisconsin!” Suddenly, Karen announces that the polls will be closing soon then gets a call about the latest exit poll results. However, Karen briefly reminds Nikki that her alleged affair with her campaign manger definitely cost her some votes. When Vikki arrives, Karen conveys that Jack is gaining on her… then the final winner comes in…
At Newman, Nikki sighs, “I can’t believe it’s over just like that.” Although everyone says Nikki gave it her best shot, Karen reminds her it’s time to make her concession speech. After she briefly calls Jack, Nikki refuses to ‘play nice’ through her speech and says, “The people need to know who the real Jack Abbott is.”
In Victor’s office, watching David comfort Nikki, Victoria rants to Kay, “How could my mother risk the election - and her marriage!” Later, as everyone is ready to leave, David offers to drive Nikki home and Karen flips! “Even now, after you’ve ruined everything,” Karen says then looks at Nikki. “Do you think this is the first time he’s done this? He’s the reason you are not senator!”
At Newman, Nikki, David and Karen make calls to collect votes for Nikki. Later, watching the news, Nikki hears a citizen say, "Who needs an ex-stripper for a senator." Karen changes the direction and starts preparing Nikki for questions from the press such as, "Where's your husband." Karen tells Nikki to be honest then they head to the voting location!
At The Club, as Nikki is talking to a reporter, Neil approaches and cheers her on by saying, "No one is better for the job!"
