We first met Devon Hamilton in 2004 while he was helping to build Victor Newman's Rec Center. Growing up in and out of foster homes, Devon's jagged attitude toward the Walnut Grove kids was at an all-time high! At first when Devon met Lily Winters, he acted as though he too was rich and attended a private school on the other side of town. However, after Lily realized the truth, Devon began to warm up to her by filling Lily in on his 'real' life.
After Lily found out that Devon was going to be kicked out of his current foster home, she persuaded her mother Dru - who had also grown up on the streets - to get involved. While Dru's husband Neil wasn't too keen on the idea, Dru and Lily believed in Devon and took him into their home on a temporary foster basis.
In time, Devon told them about his childhood, growing up with a mother on crack and a father who left him as a boy. With the help of the Winters, he learned to read, write and handle all the expectations of a normal everyday life. After Dru started to go through the channels to make Devon's stay permanent, his social worker found out that Neil wasn't on board and scheduled to have Devon sent to a boy's home. Not wanting to go, Devon ran away and was later found sleeping at the Rec Center by Victor Newman. Victor stayed there with Devon until Neil gave in and arrangements were made for the Winters to be his permanent foster parents.
Everything seemed to be going well for Devon until no one remembered his seventeenth birthday. Remembering back to when he was a kid, Devon skipped school and went to the zoo. After he hadn't shown up at home that night, Lily's friend Sierra told the Winters about it being Devon's birthday and his mention that his grandma used to take him to the zoo. Darkness had fallen at the zoo and Devon found that he had wandered into a lion's exhibit and was trapped! Luckily, Lily's Uncle Malcolm was able to save him and pulled him out in time.
However, after Devon went with Lily to get the Winters car, Lily lost control and hit Neil! Badly hurt and needing surgery, Devon was encompassed with deep guilt and blamed himself for the accident. In the end, Neil was fine and Devon was able to let go of his guilt.
Feeling grateful for his new life, Devon sought out his mother and found Yolanda strung out on crack. He tried his best to help her start a new life, even convinced the Winters to take her in for a bit, but in the end, no matter what Devon did or who he had become, was enough to tear his mother away from drugs.
After starting college, Devon came down with meningitis and lost his hearing. With the Winters support and his will to learn to make the best of it, Devon successful underwent surgery for cochlear implants and by the miracle of science is now able to hear! During the ordeal, the Winters made him their son by legally adopting Devon!
However, in December of 2006, Devon faced his most difficult test yet when he became the prime suspect in the Carmen Mesta murder!
Devon had to deal with the news that the daughter his Aunt Tyra has been raising as her own, is actually his half-sister - her mother is Yolanda as well. Devon helped his new sibling, Ana, deal with the truth about her parentage, and they collaborated on music together. Soon, Devon had another shock - Tyra wasn't his blood relation. He ended up cheating on Roxy with her, which also hurt Neil, who was dating her. Devon eventually reunited with Roxy, and is currently pursuing a career in music, having signed a contract with McCall Unlimited to work on an album with Noah Newman.

At the Club, Hilary tells Lily she found a wedding dress and shoes. She thanks her for her help and says she and Devon hope Lily and Cane work things out. Lily says it's hard to believe, but Cane appears and wonders why. "It's too late for regret." Nearby, Neil watches the video of the girl leading Devon into the bedroom. Upstairs, the girl in question wants her money. She whispers to Colin that she and Devon didn't have sex. Colin thanks her and then makes Devon believe he slept with her. Devon shakily asks, "Are you telling me I cheated on Hilary?" Colin says, "Mmhm." Colin reminds him of the girl undoing his shirt. Devon remembers nothing after that, which makes no sense since he had nothing to drink. Colin says he heard them in the bedroom. Devon cringes and still doesn't think it adds up. Colin shows him the video and says it will be their little secret. Devon hates himself and doesn't want to lie. Colin says what she doesn't know won't hurt her. He can't keep a secret again. Downstairs, Lily insists to Cane that she doesn't want to be with Joe. He has a right to be upset, but not to make their children pay. They argue heatedly until Neil intervenes and tells him not to talk to his daughter like that in her place of business. Cane comes back at Neil for his own behavior. After, Lily tells Neil she's ruined the life she and Cane had; she's ashamed. Neil wants to take all her pain away. Up in her suite, Hilary tries on her veil and flashes to Neil telling her and Devon, "Karma's a bitch." Downstairs, Neil encounters Colin and Devon, who excuses himself. Colin asks if he got the video. Neil says it was exactly what he needed and he deposited the money in his account. Colin asks when he'll reveal the video. Neil says that will be up to Devon. Colin confirms that Devon didn't actually have sex with the girl, but he convinced him he did. Neil muses that the longer it takes to come out the worse it will be for them. Colin marvels at his ruthlessness. Neil says they took his joy and happiness and he's going to return the favor. Upstairs, Hilary tells Devon he looks exhausted. She asks if he had fun. He says fun isn't the word for what happened. Hilary tells him about Neil's surprising visit. "Now everything is going to be perfect." Downstairs, Colin checks in with Cane, who says he saw Lily kissing Joe. Colin suggests they go to Vegas. Cane says he misses his family and hates what's happening. Colin asks what he'll do about it. Cane approaches Lily, who wonders if he wants to work things out. He's not sure he can forgive her, but she's a good mom; they'll work out a shared custody agreement. Up on the pool deck, Devon sits brooding and drinking. Neil appears and asks if he didn't get enough last night. Hilary joins them. Neil muses that everything is fine after all.
At the Club's pool bar, Lily comments on Cane's drinking as Colin watches. As they argue, Joe appears. He tells Cane he's embarrassing himself and his wife. In their suite, Hilary frets to Devon about how much there is to do for the wedding. They discuss her marriage to Neil and Devon assures her they'll last. Hilary is 100% sure she is marrying the man she will spend the rest of her life with. Lauren arrives with wedding dresses and Devon leaves. Hilary has trouble finding a dress. Lauren flashes to her own wedding and produces another one. Hilary blurts, "I can't do this." She rehashes hurting Neil. Lauren says she deserves to be happy. They discuss marriages and whether Lauren and Michael, and Cane and Lily might reconcile. Downstairs, Nikki is concerned about Neil's revenge fantasies. "Please tell me you're not going to act on this." She suggests he focus on positive activities because Hilary and Devon are going to be married and there's nothing he can do about it. Neil assures Nikki he won't drink. Nikki argues he should talk to somebody. He says he is. At the pool deck, Devon comes upon Lily complaining about Colin offering Cane a drink. Colin decides Devon should have a bachelor party tonight. Cane apologizes to Devon for blaming him for Lily's behavior and agrees to join in. Lily tells Joe that she told Cane what happened between them was a one-time thing. He asks her to have dinner with him. She says, "Why not?" Elsewhere, Michael joins Colin, Devon and Cane. Colin called for a lawyer to get him there for the bachelor party. Colin goes to get something and Devon is called away. Michael and Cane hold a conversation about their wives' cheating. Michael says he and Lauren cared enough about their marriage and kid to try after she cheated; maybe Cane could forgive Lily her indiscretion. Devon and Colin return. Colin has four women with him. Cane and Michael take off. Devon awkwardly accepts a champagne. Soon he's woozy and a woman is helping take off his shirt as Colin looks on. When the girl takes Devon to the bed, Colin videotapes and grins. On the pool deck, Joe flirts with Lily over dinner. She wonders if it's a mistake. He thinks it might be just what she needed. They talk about Cane and Avery's treatment of them. Lily says Cane wants custody of the kids. Joe thinks she still wants a future with him. At Hilary and Devon's suite, there's a knock. Hilary assumes Lauren returned but it's Neil. He tells her he won't do anything to ruin her wedding. Hilary knows Devon would love for him to be there. Neil says he won't be there; it would be awkward for all of them. Downstairs, Michael urges Cane to forgive Lily again. He then spots Lauren with a veil. She is ready to try forgiving him. On the pool deck, Joe counsels Lily to move on. He kisses her as Cane appears. She tells Joe he shouldn't have done that. In Hilary's room, she tells Lauren about Neil's visit. She can finally breathe easy. Downstairs, Neil tells Nikki he visited Hilary; she was right about him needing to move on. Neil's phone beeps - he watches the video of Devon and the girl upstairs.
