    Quote HOT PINK:
Quote lynnw: Hi Hot Pink I hope your Memorial Day weekend is going well so far. It was pretty busy this morning but this afternoon, I didn't do much. It's too hot to be outdoors. Wendy's husband is sick now. My husband had to take Matthew to his soccer party at 4; wendy and will had to be somewhere else.

The meat market had bacon wrapped filets on sale today and I got us one apiece for our dinner. They're really good. Had garlic breaad and potato with it. Even Cracker liked it.

Will your friends let the deer loose when it's grown? I've never heard of anyone having one for a pet. Guess they could be tamed if they're with people.

Everytime I tried to take a nap today the phone rang. I finally cut it off. We've started getting weekend calls from sales persons. I registered for the do not call list again this afternoon. They say charities are non exemept. I wish I knew some way to get them to stop. I read that you should get their name and if they call back they can be sued. Might be worth a try. Guess I need caller ID.

I'm taping a movie that sounded good. Have to watch it tonite.

That dessert I made, the strawberry dessert is a keeper. Even my husband said so. We had to sample it. You break off pieces of 3/4 of an angel food cake in a 9x13 pan, mix 2 boxes of strawberry jello and 20 oz. of crushed strawberries, then spread over cake and smooth. Let it sit for an hour till set, then mix 2 boxes of vanilla pudding with 2 cups milk, stir till firm and spread over cake and top with cool whip.

We have to go to Wendy's church tomorrow since Will is joining the church and will miss homecomming at our church. I sure hate that though. A distant cousin's husband is preaching it.

By the time I clean up, it'll be time to settle back for the night. See you later.

Hi, lynnw - It has been HOT here. Haven't been outside except to check the mail with Kaitlyn. Uncle is taking her home in a few, and I'm going to Food Lion to get some bacon for our breakfast in the morning. Don't have it often, but we decided it would be good the the blueberry muffins I'm making. They won't be homemade - I get a box mix from Aldis that has a can of wild blueberries and we really love them. I cut them in half when they come out of the oven, slather with whipped butter (less cholesterol) and put in the toaster oven to let the butter melt. The muffins are really good that way.

I'm sorry Wendy's husband is sick now. Guess the entire family will have it before it runs its course. That's usually what happens in our family. Isn't sharing fun? It's great that Will is joining the church. I remember what a special event it was when we kids joined the church (and got baptized).

My friends will let the deer go when he gets old enough to fend for himself. But, that might be a while. I told my friend her hubby will have to take it someplace (far) away from their place in the country so he won't end up killing it when it's deer season. Of course, I hate the thought of killing those beautiful animals.

That strawberry dessert sounds fabulous! I will definitely have to make it one day. Christopher would definitely love it. I'm betting it would be good with peaches, too.

Sorry your nap kept getting interrupted today. I woke up with a migraine and was hoping to spend the day taking it easy. But, Thomas wanted me to keep Kaitlyn for the afternoon, so there went that idea. We had a good time, though. She drew some pictures for me and had a great time playing with Sassi. Unfortunately, Sassi didn't have as good a time as Kaitlyn did and she ran and hid for a while. Kaitlyn wanted to spend the night, but I told her she couldn't this time. Maybe next weekend.

Haven't had bacon-wrapped steaks in quite a while. I know they were great. I got some ribs for us to have tomorrow and a can of the Bush's Texas style grilling beans with chili's. I like them, but don't if Christopher will. He can have french fries with them. Don't know if we'll be doing anything special on Monday. Thomas doesn't have a grill anymore, so he can't grill burgers and hot dogs for us. But, maybe he's planning something. We shall see.

Hope Matthew had a good time at his soccer party. Did they out special awards? Christopher was so proud when he got his first trophy playing soccer.

Well, time to get the kitchen tidied up. Hope you, Hubby and Cracker are doing well and will have a great night. Take care.

I hope your Sunday is going great Hot Pink...I can hardly see to type or read; my left contact has been bothering me so I finally took it out and put a new one in but it seemed irritated so now it's out also. I just don't care for the eye dr I went to, or the contacts he prescribed but the ones I've gone to for years stopped taking the insurance so I had to find one who'd take it. I'd hate paying out of pocket since an exam is 180.00 at the old place. That's not counting the cost of contacts. I may try another dr next visit but there aren't but like 4 who take our insurance around here.

I was telling Wendy I might try peaches next time I make that dessert and she thought that would be good.

I don't think Matthew got any awards since their team didn't win the championship this year. I think this was a bad weekend to have a party anyway, a holiday weekend and all.

The steaks were good. We don't have them often but I thought since it was a holiday we would. I grilled burgers for lunch and 3 pieces of boneless breasts for lunch. My husband stopped out at church, today was homecomming, and ate. I sure did want to go but had to go see Will at his church.

I bet Kaitlyn was glad to see Sassi. Kittens are a wonderment to kids, maybe because they're so small. Sassi may not be so small anymore though. I did get like a 20 minute nap in today and my husband is still sleeping, for like 2 hours. Wendy wants to run to the cemetery in a bit and see the flowers. My sister and I put some roses on my mom's grave for Mother's Day. I forgot about the vases till yesterday so I stopped by to get them and they were gone. My husband asked the man who mows and he said they were in 1,000 pieces last week. Guess the wind blew them off. Mine wasn't expensive, a goodwill one but it was low and good for the cluster roses I put in it. We have vases on the side of the stone so that may be all the flowers we put out there from now on. I know it's hard to mow around flowers and we aren't suppose to put them there.

Cracker is at the door wanting out. I may let her explore a bit. Have a good Sunday.

Happy Sunday to you, lynnw - Sorry your contact lens has been bothering you. I always have trouble with my left contact lens as well, so I stopped wearing them. Sure wish I could have laser surgery to correct my vision. But, can't afford it since I don't have the supplemental insurance anymore. Hope your eye will get better SOON. Maybe it's allergies?

Glad those steaks were good. It's always nice to have them on special occasions or holidays. We're having ribs later, which reminds me I'd better get them started so when I finish this post so we won't be eating at midnight. Got a couple different kinds of barbeque sauce to try and will put each one on half the ribs to see which sauce is better. Don't think we're doing anything special tomorrow since Thomas doesn't have a grill any longer. He usually enjoys cooking burgers and hot dogs on holidays. We'll probably finish the curry up tomorrow since I got fried chicken at Food Lion for dinner last night.

Kaitlyn was very happy to see Sassi. She wants to hold Sassi continuously and Sassi goes and hides when she's had enough "loving." Right now she is in the bedroom sleeping, I think, and Sami is asleep on top of the couch. Since Christopher is in his room, it's nice a quiet. I didn't get to sleep until nearly dawn this morning. Thomas and I were texting around 6 am and I finally fell asleep in the middle of it. He was at a friend's house and he and several other folks spent the night outside talking. Needless to say, I haven't felt like doing much since I only got about three hours sleep.

I went by my Daddy's grave for a little while the other day. The town always puts a flag on the graves of our veterans so I didn't need to put one on it. I'd like to get a permanent flag to put on it soon so Daddy's grave won't seem so bare. Last time we put silk flowers on it, someone stole them. Don't know why people would want flowers from someone's grave.

How was the ceremony at Will's church? Hope you enjoyed it.

Well, better get into the kitchen and put those ribs on. I'm going to boil them in seasoned water (salt, pepper, cayenne, chili powder cumin, garlic powder) to give the ribs some flavor while they're cooking), then I'll finish them off with the barbeque sauce in the oven. Just hope they will be good.

Hope you, Hubby and Cracker will have a good evening. And, hope Cracker enjoyed her jaunt outside. Take care. Talk to you tomorrow!

Happy Memorial Day Hot Pink....not much going on today. I had my glider rocker cushions recovered and went to pick them up today. I was surprised that he called on a holiday. Later I went to Tanger Outlets and looked around. Lots of folks over there. My husband has gone to the garden to plant a few tomatoes.

You're right about people stealing flowers off graves. So far at our church I don't know of any that have been stolen but the pastor lives right next door. Lots of times after a high wind, I'll drive around the cemetery and flowers that have blown in the woods I pick up and put under the overhang at the hut. The wreaths on the tops of the markers are suppose to have the names on them but mostly don't.

Wendy just called and said the little boy she keeps broke his leg. They were at the beach and he stepped in a hole. He's just 15 months old and had just started walking, he was slow starting and had to take therapy. Now he'll be in the cast for 4 to 6 weeks.

How did your ribs turn out? I meant to have some this weekend but never got around to buying them. Guess we'll have l/o hot dogs and chicken for dinner tonite. Amy's family is suppose to come back today, but I look for them around dark. The boys will want to stay and fish as long as possible. My sister said she'll have all three of her grandkids for 3 days next and the same the next. Their mom teaches and has workshops off and on all summer. She said they fight so bad and her husband gets ill so she thinks she'll keep them down at their own house.

Cracker hasn't been out today but has been in the window. My husband was going to take her out this morning but someone came to see him for a bit. She seems content being in. That's good cause if we go somewhere this summer, she'll have to stay in for a few days.

Guess I'll be back after work tomorrow. Only good thing is it's a 4 day week. See you then.

Happy Memorial Day to you as well, lynnw. I'm having a very lazy day. Did fix bacon and pancakes for breakfast, so tonight we'll be having chef salads to offset the calories from this morning. Christopher and I both had insomnia last night. Hate it when that happens. Throws us both off for the day.

Bless that little guy's heart. Bet he doesn't understand what is wrong and why he is hurting right now. Hope he'll heal quickly and that the progress he was making won't be hindered.

The ribs were really good. Boiling them in the various spices made the meat quite tasty. I mixed the two barbeque sauces together, one spicy and one regular and brushed them with it before putting them under the broiler. Bet they would have been even better if I had finished them off on a grill. But, we don't have one, so I make do with the broiler.

I can understand why your sister's son-in-law has problems with the kids fighting so much. My two are fine by themselves, but sure are noisy and ornery (okay really BAD) when they are together. Last weekend when Kaitlyn spent the night, she was so sweet; but, when she got back from church with her brother, it was a different story. T.A. was great, but she kept picking on him and was quite ill herself. They are at the mountains with their mother this weekend. I'm guessing they are staying with a family member who has a place there since they can't afford hotels, etc. Hope the kids are having fun. I really worry about them when they aren't with us.

My neighbor's husband is doing better. They moved him to a different facility on Friday and he seems to be doing quite well. Hopefully, he will make a full recovery.

My cousin Billy just stopped by to see me. He sure is a sweet guy. I used to spend a lot of time with his grandmother, my Daddy's oldest sister, and he and his siblings were always there, too. It's always great to see him.

Sami is sitting on the arm of the couch growling at Sassi. Wonder when that's going to stop? Hope it's soon. I am so hoping she will learn to like her. Sassi tries so hard to get her to play and loves chasing after her. That's when Sami finds her favorite place to hide. Glad Cracker has stayed inside today. I know that keeps you from worrying so much when she is outside.

Well, time to go do a little cleaning. Hope you, Hubby and Cracker are having a nice day and will have a great evening. And, hope Amy and family get back home safe and sound. Take care.

Hi Hot Pink...It was sort of rough getting back to work but only 3 more days this week, then 5 the next. We sure have things alot easier with that new girl. She washed all the dishes today and a good thing since the other girl or myself didn't have time. She also washed and cupped the blueberries on my list. Hope she's a keeper.

My husband is going to break me before I get out of school. I told him to fix the boys either cheese stix or pizza for lunch today. I come home and he's fixed both. I told him that was suppose to be for 2 days. Matthew and Will were also up here so maybe he needed to. Next time he will have to ask which one they want and not fix both. He could have taken them to the grill down the road for what those things cost.

Zachary has a ball game tonite at 7. I may go. Avery's is tomorrow at 5:30. After work I had to run to the next town to get a mirror for my car and it was right across from the place we took Macy on that day she left us. I didnt even look over there.

I would imagine when Sassi gets a little older she won't try to get Sami to play with her and she'll quit growling. They may never be playmates but maybe they'll co-exist peacefully. I don't remember the cats I had playing with each other. I sure Cracker wouldn't play with another one. She'd probably be growling also.

I ate the couple pieces of l/o angel food cake from the dessert I made. There are a few cheese stix l/o and 3 slices of pizza so I may get my husband to eat that.

I went to the tanning bed Saturday and got too much. I went on Wed and Fri and didn't burn like this; but I was in a different bed Saturday and it was hotter. May not be able to go anymore this week.

I'll let you know if I went to the ball game. Talk later.

Talk later.

Hey, lynnw - I was going to post this earlier, but I had to go to Walmart, then take Thomas to get his truck. Of course, as luck would have it, he didn't have any gas in it, so he called me when I was about half-way home to come back and get him. Tomorrow evening, Christopher is going to have to take him back to get the truck after getting a can of gas so it will start. Got some Chinese on the way home and just finished that a little while ago. It's owned by the same folks who run the one close to my house, but their food it A LOT better. Just might start going there from now on.

It's great that the new girl is doing so well. I know it makes it easier for you and everyone else. Hopefully, the next few days will pass by quickly. I know you're ready for a nice break.

You'll definitely have to tell Hubby to fix just one thing for the boys for lunch. It is way too expensive to fix two different things. If Christopher didn't live with me, my food bill would be cut in half, and most of my other bills would be less as well. But, I know boys usually eat a lot. so you're probably right about Hubby having to fix more food since Matthew and Will were there, too.

Hope Zachary's team won their ballgame tonight. I have to admit, I'd rather watch baseball, too. It's good that they play in the late afternoon, evenings since it's so hot during the day. I never seem to dress appropriately. Thought it would be cloudy and raining when I went to see my aunt and wore my capri pants. Once I went outside, I realized how hot it was and wished I had worn shorts. But, the capris do hide the awful scars on my left knee and leg. Too bad Sassi has scratched the dickens out of my ankles because the capris don't hid them. She likes to sit on my foot, especially when I'm wearing tennis shoes, and ride on it while I swing her back and forth. I need to exercise my legs, and her weight on my foot is kind of like the weights my physical therapist had me wear during my sessions with him.

Sami hasn't been growling as much the past day or so, and she's stopped growling and swatting at me when Sassi is around. So, maybe she will stop doing it altogether soon. Sure would be nice. It would be nice if they could get along, or at least peacefully co-exist. Right now, Sami is lying on the arm of the loveseat and Sassi is lying on top of it above Sami. I think Sassi got miffed with me because I wouldn't let her sleep on my shoulder. Knowing she has so many fleas fight now has made me wary of letting her sleep near my head. Just what I need - fleas!

I took my aunt and uncle some mini red velvet "whoopee pies" I got at Starbucks this morning. Hope they liked them. My aunt's birthday was yesterday, and I'm glad I got them for her. She was my Daddy's favorite sister and is one of sweetest people I've ever known. She and her remaining sister are the last two of my Daddy's siblings and I treasure each moment I'm able to spend with them.

I'm so sorry you bot burned at the tanning salon on Saturday. I've never been to one and, now that I can't lie flat on my back any longer due to all of my injuries, don't think I could go to one now. So, I've scratched that off of my "to-do" list along with teaching my g'kids how to bowl. I can just see myself showing them how to throw that bowling ball and going down the lane right along with it. Not a pretty picture! Thomas told me this evening that he and Uncle will teach them to bowl for me.

Well, got to do a little cleaning before bed. Hope you, Hubby and Cracker have had a nice evening and will have a good day tomorrow. Take care!

Quote lynnw: Hi Hot Pink...It was sort of rough getting back to work but only 3 more days this week, then 5 the next.

Hi Hot Pink...I hope you're having a nice day and it's not too hot. There is a nice breeze blowing but still hot out. My husband was putting the mirror on my car and I walked out there barefooted. I started to cut behind the bush going back as not to walk on the rocks but didn't. I was standing on the deck and a big limb fell, right about the time I would have been under it if I'd gone that way. Kind of scary. You really have to be careful if you're under trees since they're full of dead limbs.

I bet those red velvet pies were good. I've heard of red velvet cupcakes. My son in law's aunt in PA use to send my husband the chocolate whoppie pies whenever someone came down this way.

I wish I still had an aunt or uncle living. My last aunt, my dad's sister, died over 2 years ago but her husband is still living. I think of things I'd love to have asked her on the history of our family but didn't. Same with all my mom's kin. I could have learned so much. Oh well, hindsight the say is 20/20.

Avery has a ballgame at 5:30 which I'll go to. Zach's was cancelled last evening due to the weather. I fixed a hamburger casserole for dinner. It was easy and will last 2 nights, at least for my husband.

I stopped at Wendy's to see the little boy's cast and it's from hip to his foot but she says he's learned to get around pretty good.

I'll stop and get ready for the game. I'm taking my soccer chair since the bleachers are hard and I can sit in the shade in my chair.

See you later. Have a good one.

Hey, lynnw - I've been trying to get some cleaning done today. Get so tired of the clutter. Just wish I could stand long enough to get it all done in one fell-swoop. But, I have to do a little then rest a while. I will keep on though, and maybe everything will be done by the time I go to bed.

I'm so glad you didn't get hit by the falling tree limb! Someone up there must have been looking out for you! When I sit on the front porch, I can see all of the dead tree limbs on the trees, and I hope they won't fall. A couple of trees are leaning pretty badly towards one of the townhouses across from me, and I hope they won't go down during a bad storm. Again, I'm very glad you decided to walk a different way!

The red velvet pies did look good. I may have to try one soon. I love Starbucks lemon pound cake the best, though.

I'm going to have to start taking notes when I go visit my aunts so I can have a written record of the stuff they tell me about my family. I'd love to write a book of stories about my family so I can pass it on to the g'kids and other family members. You never know how much people truly mean to you until they are gone.

Hope Avery's team wins tonight and that you will enjoy the game. I'm looking forward to when T.A. and Kaitlyn are playing various sports. I'll be the loudest Grams there, I'm sure!

That hamburger casserole sounds good. Don't know what we're having yet. I was planning to go to Walmart and Aldis in a while, but Christopher has to take Thomas to get his car from a friend's house. Thomas partied hearty this weekend after bouncing at a local nightclub on Saturday night. Went to a friend's house from there, and didn't come home until Monday night. When I took him to get his truck last night, it wouldn't start because the gas tank was empty. So, he's going back with Christopher later to put gas in the truck so he can bring it home. I may make Christopher go with me when he gets back from doing that.

So glad the little boy Wendy is keeping is doing well in his cast. Bless his heart.

Well, it's time to do a little more cleaning. Again, hope you will enjoy the game. And, hope you'll have a wonderful evening. Take care.

Hi Hot Pink...I just got back from Walmart getting groceries. I'd normally stop after work but I was so tired that I just came on home and laid down for a while. It was so hot in the kitchen today with the steamer going; in fact, the floor in one place was wet from the steam. We had tacos for lunch and even though I love them, they just didn't taste good to me, may have been the heat. I got a chicken sandwich from Walmart and even that wasn't good. I should have eaten a bowl of cereal.

Avery's team won big last night, 1 to 14 I think. Zachary plays at 7 tonite and I guess I'll try to go. You'll love it when yours start playing. Maybe your grandson can start playing soccer this fall. The little ones are so funny to watch sometimes. When Will started playing he was goalie sometimes and didn't like it so he'd leave his post and kick the ball down the field. Now, he loves playing that position. They change.

Wendy goes on Ancesty.com and has gotten some of our families history. We have some distant relations buried in the woods about a mile from the house but have never been over there. The woman who owns the land is a bit curious.

Did someone steal the gas from your son's tank? Since it was empty, I wonder.

I think I'll try to watch one of my soaps before the game. Hope your afternoon is going good. I need to turn the air on but Cracker is in the window. Maybe she'll move soon. It's rather warm in here.

Hi, lynnw - It is way too hot out! Didn't go anywhere until 5:15 or so to pick up my prescription and then on to Food Lion to get something for dinner. We have a choice of pork chops with potatoes or a nice chef salad. I'm leaning towards the chef salad, but I'm sure my son would rather have the pork chops. We shall see.

There has been a tummy virus going around and so far, knock on wood, I haven't caught it yet. hope you are feeling better now.

So glad Avery's team won last night. I know he and his teammates were as well. Hope Zachary's team wins tonight and that it won't still be too hot out there. I'm usually miserable sitting in the heat watching ballgames and I've fainted from the heat before, so I have to be careful when I'm outside when it's hot. I am looking forward to T.A. playing and am hoping he will be able to start playing in the Fall. I know he'd enjoy it.

I go to Ancestry.com sometimes to look up stuff. But, I can't afford their membership fee, so I tend to look up stuff that is free. It is very interesting, though, and I hope I will be afford to join the website soon so I can find out more stuff about my family. I did learn that my grandparents daughter that my Grandma said she lost was named Margaret. She told me when I was a teen that she had lost two babies. I can't imagine having 12 mouths to feed.

Luckily, no one stole Thomas' gas. The tank was nearly empty when he drove it there. The driveway he parked the truck on had a downward slope, and what gas was in it wasn't able to get to the engine in order to crank it. He's going to have to start putting more than $5 in it whenever he gets gas from now on.

We're thinking of going to get a milkshake later this evening. Wanted to last night but it was too late to go when we decided to go. There's a Sonic close by, so we may end up going there...unless I can sweet-talk into going to Maggie Moo's for an ice cream sundae instead.

Well, I'm going to see what Christopher wants for dinner. Hope you will enjoy Zachary's game. Take care, and have a great night. And, again, hope you're feeling better.
